  1. Hi, I engaged Ah Keong as my electrician for both my place when I moved. His workmanship is good, responsive, competitive pricing and he will recommend what lights to buy. If he feel that certain installation is not required, he will let you know. You can try contacting him at 9383-2155. No harm getting another quote
  2. is it as simple as just removing the existing wall switch and then rewiring it to the newly bought switch? will it damage the wall paint or anything?
  3. sorry for the late posting. had problem with the broadband connection at home Before Installation After Installation not using timer. will just get my electrician to tap it to the light point
  4. i think it's difficult if your TV is currently mount to the wall as the hole which the wire goes through would most probably be right behind the TV. Guess you need to bring down the TV first. Alternatively, my electrician uses those white cable casing and guided the wires through but that is still with the TV being brought down first
  5. yup...had heard from ppl that as long as the ventilation fan is fixed inside the house i.e not protruding out, you actually do not need a permit. but being a typical singaporean (kiasu, kiasi), better to be safe than sorry you never know when HDB will fault you and then turn around and say "it's the rules". had encountered such incidents with government bodies too many times until scared the contact: Jasmine - Central Aluminium Tel: 6368-3313
  6. Hi all, would like to give my 2 thumbs up to Jasmine from Central Aluminium. the process of installing the ventilation fan via Jasmine was straightforward and worry-free. I contacted Jasmine about 2 weeks ago and within a few days, she arranged for her worker to assess my WC window. Last Monday (7 Apr), she asked me to fax her my floor plan and provide her with my NRIC to apply for the approval HDB permit, the approval was granted on 10 Apr and by yesterday 15 Apr, my ventilation fan was up. And it only cost me $200 nett (fixed panel plus the KDK fan model 20WUD) I will post up the picture before and after when i get home tonight
  7. i bought my L-shaped sofa from Lorenzo last year and recommended my MIL to buy from them too early this year. What i like about their product is quality and the delivery service was also good. in addition, if they had any free gifts during the time of delivery, they will give it to you too. For example, I bought my L-shaped sofa in Mar 07. During that time, there was no free gift entitlement. But when they delivered it in May, they gave me a free square leather stool that can be double-up as a coffee table or side table. And when I check out their store, that stool is worth $188 or $288 i am a happy Lorenzo customer
  8. sure...will take picture and post once it's ready not sure about the brand of the ventilation fan as we only talk about the costs and the need to take measurement first. if yours is a top hung, you probably need to pay for the cutting of the glass or acrylic sheet to fit the fan as per what Bluefly said
  9. hi, just to share. i had just contacted a company which was recommended by another thread relating to the installation of ventilation fan. The lady quoted me $200 (approximate) inclusive of the ventilation fan (not sure which type or model) and to change the existing lourve window to the push out top hung type (should be the same as bluefly's picture). She is arranging for her colleague to view my place and then she will write to HDB on my behalf to seek approval.
  10. Hi bluefly, how much did it cost you to change the the window to a casement type?
  11. i paid $1850 for the following electrical installation: - 18 downlights - 1 normal MBR light - shifting of TV point - shifting of 1 light switch - add 1 telephone point - shifting of 5 power points - changing the existing main power board - additional of 5 power points
  12. During lunch, I went to look at Fujioh and Rhoyxon. Fujioh's tempered glass hob and the most recommended hood (the one in 45 degree) is selling for $1218. For Rhoyxon, they have different pricing depending on the hood you choose. Their hobs are all made in Italy but for the hoods, you can choose either made in Italy or China. Of course, the package with the Made In China hood is less expensive and comparable to the price i got in Bellari. It just sets me thinking: is Bellari really such a good buy then? considering that it's an italian brand (i presume it's made in italy as it was confirm by some in the forum) but the prices are much cheaper than Rinnai, Fujioh and Rhoyon. Only Ellane is cheaper than Bellari....hmm.... Oh yah...just to share further but not sure true or not lah according to the Rhoyxon salesperson, the difference between tempered glass hob and stainless steel hob, other than better visual, is that it's easier to clean. However, she said that we have to be careful when cooking if we are using tempered glass. She said that we cannot put the pot which we just took off the fire stove and place it on the tempered glass and we had to be careful not to drop deep-fried food (just fried) onto the glass or else it will damaged the glass....not sure how true it is but just to share
  13. thanks bluefly for sharing the info. One question: who did the writing to HDB? You or the ID?
  14. Hi, How much you paid for the Rinnai hob and hood? From the Rinnai website promo, it's selling at 1188. For the Bellari hob and hood, the same number of burners, it's only 938. That's why I thought Bellari for it's design and brand, will be a much better buy
  15. i am about 80% confirmed on getting Bellari hood, hob and the glass panel. Their prices are fixed...even told the lady that if she gives me a good price, i get the sink from her too. But she said she can't as all prices fixed. What I like about bellari other than the design is the cut-off gas mechanism and the power of the suction (sucking the board). Also, the price quite comparable to Rinnai's website promo.
  16. We used EL for our reno 1 year back. Her design is good and thoughtful. But i think she can do better in terms of project monitoring skills and also when things don't go out well, should think harder for solutions rather than go the easy way out. You can PM me for more details
  17. that's funny. i went to the one in changi and the guy gave me a detailed quotation on the spot. it even included things like cooker hood and hob, wc etc and my budget was only 15k.
  18. Hi, I used Citimap Movers (tel:67542555) the last time. Very professional and affordable. They wrapped everything for me prior to the moving.
  19. Hi, not sure if this qn had been asked. if my resale 4-room flat had been announced for SERS and my wife (who is the co-owner) has a private property in her name, can we select a 5-room flat as a replacement?
  20. i got mine from Brentwood at the Furniture Mall...think it's on the 2nd floor. the brand is dunlopillo and came with a free pillow and bolster....according to the sales person, the mattress i bought, it's anti-flip meaning i do not have to flip it every 6 months...costs me $799 which i thought was reasonable
  21. thinking of getting the eubix system for my place too. is it very easy to install? does the track need to connected to at least 1 power point?
  22. i went to chew interior over the weekend and i am astonished at their quotation. the quotation from them was so much lower than the other 3 IDs i went to. The most astonishing part was that their quotation include things such as toilet bowl, induction cooking hobs and shower sets. Other IDs i went to, their quotation only includes the labor charges to fix those items only and I had to purchase it separately. Is the quotation too good to be true?
