  1. thank you nextstep... your house is almost complete! =) i do hope everything will be smooth smooth too... (my first reno.. still has loads to learn along the way)
  2. this week is going to be meeting up with ID and finalizing the layout and quotation hopefully by end of next week can start the ball rolling to apply for permit.. wish me luck! hehe
  3. side track abit. just wanted to know after you collect your key for your new house, is there any SOP to follow and when is it the 'right' time to do it? I heard of things like throwing rice or salt around the house and some even roll pineapple etc... when do we do it? the 1st time we open the door? or we have to pick a date to do it? care to share?
  4. A piece of mind..I think still an early stage to see who can give me peace of mind.. I keep changing idea and one is very patient and the quotes are so far the best... Then suddenly another one came in with a design where 80% of my headache was solved the price looks very very attractive! However, during the first meeting,me and hub did not really like one of the managers.. (Find him a bit arrogant) Hehe. Not sure if they can give peace of mind..but They do have on going project and we were invited to see the progress and they keep inviting and claim we r welcome to see how they do the project in a way give assurance. I like the design of this ID... Tough decision...
  5. selecting ID is a headache now.. i read quotation until i wanna faint.. some give one lump sum of $$ , some very detailed.. every single one.. but total up expensive..lol which one is more accurate? if one ID able to do the work but not so detailed in the writing.. will u choose?
  6. wah! your bill is steep.. is it a norm for your kind of hdb? you really have alot of kitchen gadgets!! now looking into wet and dry kitchen. see how the ID can come up with the idea.. hehe.. i think they all wanna bang their head :bangwall:haha. feels i am not easy customer..keep changing..( want the ideal one for my house mah.. ) u r right about the storage space.. i look at their design.. many overloooked on the storage. honestly the pathetic utility may not be enough to put our things.. i look at my current house n the clutter.. then i look at their design.. i think hard to fit in despite the "bigger" space..
  7. wah!! super nice sink u have!! care to share contact n price? =) your house is coming together very nicely! may i ask about your master toilet? there is no glass to separate the shower versus the WC? i saw the door after WC...wont the water splash all over when u shower?
  8. am considering wood like tiles too! prices comparable with vinyl.. i have seen quite a few will explore more.. this journey is not going to be easy... so much to do.. thanks everyone for your contributions..
  9. u r right on the hood. not sure if this is useful. i threw away my previous hoob as i find it wasnt doing what it was supposed to be. after cooking (even frying an egg) my floor is oily and sticky so i see no point keep it. those using hood, is it useful? one of my friend mentioned it was good and she din have to do much cleaning after cooking.. i am hoping there is a hood that can help to minimise the oil and hence no need to mop after every single cooking.. experts out there? can advise?
  10. some pics of the current kitchen the yard area is the same as what i am currently having.. kind of dun like it coz of the cooking and it hinders the space of the kitchen.. tot of putting a door to close up the yard area and separate the kitchen n yard then have another wet kitchen again with door.. will it be too weird?

  12. vinyl versus "wood" tiles - those with vinyl flooring.. what is your verdict? brought ID to view and did a random check.. the current marble flooring cannot be retained.. likely cant even overlay.. so if going to hack am thinking of just put tiles instead of vinyl... maintenance tiles will be easier to maintain, am i right?
  13. thanks Oceaneleven! how is your electrical bill so far? u wash daily with dryer? yes..plan my whole house to aircon.. i think i missed out on this point.. thanks for pointing it out.. will have to rethink how to organise the kitchen. i wan the kitchen to look huge n spacious that's y opt for open concept.. but now seems hard.. the whole house look kind of dull...
  14. thank u thank u.. now have to talk to ID to reorganise my kitchen again... been wanting something like wet n dry kitchen but seems quite hard.. yes yes.. strong hood.. that i got to start reading about it.. fujioh is good? i heard brandt has a new one with no chimmy and strong suction (according to the sales guy). laundry.. u r right about the dryer but hub still prefers the conventional way and the option to hang the clothes out.. (must try to convince him) , we do plan for dryer and even some hanging system like what ahyong81 has installed.. =) and maybe a yard area to separate the kitchen n yard area coz my current ones has the laundry hanging quite near my hob... din want to repeat the same mistake...
  15. hi below is the link http://www.magneticinsectscreen.blogspot.sg/ got to diy.. i am planning to do for my house too.. u can contact the guy.. he is quite responsive via email. =) hope it helps!
  16. nice hanger on your ceiling.. care to share more review on this? m looking for laundry solution.. thank you!
  17. laundry in EM, been trying to scratch our head how to handle the bulk laundry.. in the end decided to create a yard area behind the kitchen not sure if it will be unsightly...do not want to use the balcony for laundry as we will make it into part of our living area... any ideas are welcome!
  18. sorry have to reorganise the layout again. many wants.. so have to think where to splurge... may leave certain areas alone.. main bulk will be kitchen. shld we do carpentry (wardrobe) for all the rooms instead of just master? any advise on this? i have two young kids. i saw many ready made to be quite nice too and not too costly. just that have to carry upstairs.. may be a hassle for the workers.. just my two cents
  19. dear all to those who does heavy cooking can pls advise is open concept kitchen good? how is the maintenance like? i cook daily and currently i do mop almost after every cooking as the oil will splash on the floor.. now wan to explore open kitchen but afraid i may have a bigger area to clean daily.. =( is open or close more practical? just need some advise. anyone using induction hob on top of the gas hoob? care to share your experience? thank you thank you
