  1. Hi guys!! We have talked to Alan just now. Many things have been confirmed. This friday we will have gas piping up, done by city gas people. Abt the kitchen: only yellow glass backing for us! At least we still got yellow! And ayazumi, yeah, pink and yellow is a nice combo so i am glad to tell you that after meeting Alan, hubby and I literally ran to Pickle and Rail shop to order two fibre glass EM chairs in this combo! Its on sale. I prefer this shop's chair than Lush Lush or Cormfort Living, feel that the quality of replica stuff ia much better. finally i have succumbed to the IT chair. Haiz....
  2. --- carpenter's drawings --- After we signed with Alan on Sunday morning, we had 4 hours to discuss details with his carpenter immediately, and decided laminate colors right on the spot.. When others got days to choose laminate and paint colors, we got a few mins to decide only... Haha, not that we complained, we knew exactly what we want so decision making is just fast enough. But, for carpentry details, as we were trying to be clear and fast as much as possible to talk things to the carpentry, we missed out a few important details and we gave Alan many calls after that to tell him so... And he was kind of unhappy as he thought we decided to change major things. Tonight we will sit down with him to confirm again all these details.. Hope he understand we are not fussy people. Drawings: 1/ shoe cabinet: 2/ bookshelf and study table: Yeah, we are going to have a yellow bookshelf. Finally can have a yellow item! 3/ wardrobe: The wood laminate color is to match the wood color of our systemind platforms in both living room and master bedroom. 4/ kitchen: It has been so difficult to have a yellow cabinet for kitchen as I wish.. Our kitchen wall tiles came in pink n white. It's just impossible to have a yellow color next to PINK. I hate HDB's design team. Really.. So, we are going to have a very common kitchen nowadays: black and white kitchen. About the glass backing for area btw top and bottom kitchen cabinets, we are going to try yellow there.. But we are asking Alan if we can put design pattern sticker on his glass instead.. At first we thought of strips but it's not so nice so we want pattern now.. Especially after seeing the kitchen of this blog: ---here--- Need Alan's answer first.. Oh, we can't do tile overlaying as its costly and would make hdb wall tiles a waste of money.. Haiz... Sometimes, it seems like buying a standard hdb flat is a much better choice as you can do anything you want with the floors, walls and bathrooms. For a premium flat, especially when you buy it as a sale of balance flat, you can't do anything unless you have load of cash to waste.
  3. --- the perfect LED panel as faux sky light --- My hubby has spent his precious free time to look for a perfect solution to the faux sky light. He came across a local company who carries many LED products, with very clear info on each of the product and the boss' knowledge will put all other salesperson we met to shame. We should have ordered our other LED lights from this guy instead... Haiz.... The website: www.vtxsolutions.webs.com The one we gotta buy: The size of the panel is 600x600.. Squarish, not exactly what we are looking for: a rectangular size.. we got no choice but accept this squarish size as the area to install this panel is quite narrow, a rectangular size doesn't fit here (it only comes in 600x1200, just too long or too wide). Price: $280. We need to design a frame so the light area will look like a window, like this:
  4. Anytime will be good enough.. thank you.
  5. hi.. i am your neighbour, at block 618. could i visit your beautiful home??? do you join the facebook breeze group?
  6. Hi there, really a good looking house. I love the two bathrooms the most!
  7. Yeah!!! Finally signed with Alan and discussed carpentry works in details on the same day. :dribble:
  8. May I ask for the shop that you bought your green rugs from? Looking for one currently. Many thanks.
  9. Oh.. I love the design of the house!!! Very nice.. The ikea hacked dining table is adorable!
  10. Apparently, he refused to sign contract as he believes working without a proper contract means total trust in him. But we didn't believe so, so we parted ways. Anyway, recently we learnt that he seemed to have many many many problems with clients,, due to his "no contract" method. cos since he didn't write down anything, he didn't remember any details abt the projects he is doing, unless people provide him with details in time. But many time he decides on things relying on his memory only, and he screws up most of the time. In short. We now feel relieved to stop working with such a contractor.
  11. Oh oh... Nice kitchen. Thanks for posting it here. I like the glass panel in btw the shoe cabinet n the sink area.. Very "pocket-friendly" n still useful as a panel.. How do you find it so far? I would not have any dish rack at your position. Will just use a table top dish rack to dry the dishes.. Cos I have thought of the weird position at the corner since the beginning.
  12. Hi, if my reno has restarted , i would be so excited and would scream "yahoo" right here... I was away with my family for a while, a break after more than 8 months just staying at home.. Then my daughter and I were down with flu and a lot of birthday dinner within the big family.. It's also kind of depressing to keep going to renotalk and nothing gets done for my renovation. Currently we met one contractor, likes his quote, but don't know if can sign with him... During the trip. We met my friend who is an architect. My husband discussed the ceiling design with the guy and got an "approval". So my husband will die die want to ceiling up. This has created a few problems for us finding contractors who could understand n be able to get it done.. Sigh.... My neighbours have started to fill this t-blog forum with their smooth renovation progress... Mine is not even done properly. And seventh month is coming........................................
  13. I also think landline is the safest, less threat on brain cancer as compared to cell phone.
  14. Hi pink whale, I went to the tile shop you said earlier. Thanks for the recommendation. I bought square mosaic black tiles instead. The honeycomb in black is really amazing, but my concern is the workmanship of the tiler who works for my bad contractor.. Ahhaha, I don't think at this state, the tiler will do a good job for me. So gotta play safe loh.. All my wet works r done by my bad contractor. Other contractors I am talking to right now wish to carry on without any wet works, as it'll be too troublesome for them to arrange workers for small jobs only. Haiz.. There goes my black honeycomb tiles..
  15. Wah, spider... Wish you a smooth Reno, with a good solution to your balcony's problem.
  16. not turning brown so easily, if you do some cleaning for it once in a while. @ my current place, no white pipe cleaning but it still looks good.
  17. Nice white walls.. Aiming for this for my flat as well.
  18. Is the gold/ brown fan from Lim's Art considered industrial enough for your taste? I don't have its picture to show you. But everytime we visited kallang leisure park, my hubby will look @ the fan and wish to buy it. He said it has vintage feel while being industrial.
  19. nice lamp. Such a pity that I don't know where to put this in my new flat.. Thanks for sharing.
  20. Aki is a good husband! Anyway, your toilets look great with white pipes. The yellow/golden/ brown ones were weird..
  21. We think we will use yellow for small deco items around the house. Maybe paint the ceiling @ passage way yellow as well. So that it's not too yellow and hyper-happy mood in the house. Hubby definitely loves to get the ceiling idea done. Thanks for your comment. Here is the company for the door: Website I only googled ah.. Not yet given them a call or read more abt this company. You can try first and let me know. Hahhaha...
  22. We have a quotation for the ceiling work. We feel it's expensive, and need your opinions. Please help. Fasle Ceiling works: Living 7.1 Supply and install L4400mm x W1100mm slope false ceiling with 3 nos opening for built in lights box (sky light looks alike) $540 7.2 Supply and install L4400mm x W450mm box up for trilles termination. $280 Carpentry works: Living 9.18 Construct L600mm x W900mm x 50mm thick frame in selected laminate finish.(3nos) acrylic panel by others. $900 9.19 Construct and install L3300mm x W75mm x H75mm trilles in selected laminate finsh. (5nos) $1980 We will have the slightly slanted false ceiling @ our platform area, right next to our windows. The faux sky light will be on this false ceiling. There would be max. 5 faux beams running from the wall of the windows across this false ceiling, towards the other end of the ceiling, and at the other end, there is another small area of false ceiling with 3 downlights, for additional lighting source, as recommended by this contractor we are discussing with. All details of ceiling will be painted white.. Drawing: We forgot to draw the false ceiling with downlights where the beams end. But hope this good enough for your imagination. What do you guy think? Just 5 faux beam, 75mm thick, cost 2K. We feel expensive but contractor said its standard practice to charge by per foot run and also workmansh for celing is normally more expensive.. Then the "window" frame for the faux sky light costs $300 each, with same explanation that it's not easy to do... Somemore, we were thought to supply our own acrylic pieces.. When we said we would help to source for the film (to be pasted on the acrylic to disperse the light evenly) ONLY. Haiz... My hubby thought we might be biased as we are now afraid every contractor just bull**** us n wanna get our money only. Hum...
