I would suggest you engage a Pro Fsm to go and audit your house. Open concept kitchen is no joking matter, if any of your household member "fears" fire, he/she is in deep trouble and it is very rare that a whole family is lack of fire. Especially when your kitchen is at the centre of the house, making the fire reaches every corner/everybody. Would suggest yellow/brown/earth colours for your house to minimise the effects of a kitchen(FIRE) in the centre.
