  1. Today, I went to my place and the worker was laying the laminates. I watched him to do so as I sat at my usual spot, reading. Then I realised something, I wasnt disturbed by the traffic outside at all! Why? Cos the worker's radio was on, that too at a low volume. In conclusion, the cheapest way to counter traffic buzz - soothing music of your choice!
  2. Thanks Ben. The wall colour for MBR goes very well with the floor laminate as well. Floor laminate is Supreme's Oriental Teak. I know what you mean about it being complete - the middle portion seems to lack something right? Let's see, K will probably be open to the idea. We'll admire the wall a little more and see if we need another strip or two! Thanks Relacker! The colour scheme is indeed simple and nice. K calls this 'design painting'. Not much design there but it is indeed different. More pictures will come sooooooon, maybe Friday ok? Cos that is when the carpentary works will be installed. !! Yup Ch*ls*a is cheap but I was hoping for a greater variety actually but luckily we managed to find somethings that suited the concept and preference. Plus, with K around we automatically get more discount then the stated price ---- and Mudster bargained for a further $10 discount! What to do, he has skin as thick as a rhino's! Handover is scheduled for 5th May 2007 (Saturday).
  3. Hi HappyDay Good to know that you have signed with K. You are certainly in good, honest hands! Do pop by my t-blog to see my reno progress. I will be posting more pictures once my carpentary is up. All the best for your reno!
  4. Hi hi people, sorry that I havent been updating the blog. Have been really busy lately. Anyways, latest updates - 1) Painting is done! Colours look soothing and of good taste! 2) Lights have been installed too. Let there be light! 3) 1st round of chemical wash done! 4) Air-con units are up too! Today, stuff from Teka and Poh Joo was delivered --- looking good What's happening next week - 1) Monday - Tuesday: Bedroom laminates 2) Thursday: Carpentary arrives 3) Friday - Saturday: Carpentary installation It's been pretty good so far. K has been accomodating and always there to answer queries and solve problems. Thank you K Mudster has taken some photos, let me see if I can get him to upload them tonight!
  5. Hey hey everybody! Great to see people checking out Ideal House ID! I'm with Mr K! 3rd week into reno now, we hope to be done in the next 3 weeks or so.
  6. Hey joyz! Your home looks perfect! So don't worry, reno looks tip-top, love the carpentary laminates.
  7. Thanks everybody! Mudtser and I settled for colour combi A! Your feedback was most invaluable! Hey storeberry, I think there are a number of outlets that Hongtar has. If you are interested in a quote, you could try calling 6789 2312 - this is the number for e tampines outlet. Booooo to H*B, until now they havent sourced for decent looking handles for my windows yet! You are right about their 'efficiency'! Hey Cheesecake, what u see there is mere design painting. Let's hope it turns out well! Chose A, eventually - the original colour that K suggested! Mudster and I too ya ya so we asked K to give as a drawing with red! So K was right!! True true, cos if we dont give em a deposit they wont start work. So when they ask for 50% deposit, we bargained for 30%. I know got to give, but I rather play safe and give lesser!
  8. Hats off to you Relacker, this is intensive research you have done! Maybe I shld clarify that initially we had no plans for the recess area behind the door. We wanted to leave it empty. It was K's idea to fill up the area and he suggested doing up the recess, FOC. It is more for show as I intend to reserve the dry area in the bathroom for toiletries and make up. The vanity area, I hope, will accomodate to that. About the depth of the wardrobe, I am currently using a wardrobe with the same measurements (47 cm - interior. 50 cm - exterior) that was purchased off the rack. It does suit my needs and is able to hold all my wanted and unwanted clothes. I really hope I would be equally happy with the built in wardrobe. I do like the idea of changing the direction of the door! Will sound this out with K! Thanks again, Relacker! I really appreciate your genuine comments.
  9. Hey Krisie, I hope ur hubby wont hate me for saying this, but I seriously find that Mitsubishi is over-hyped. Their's is a good case of excellent marketing strategies! Toshiba is cool. I got Sharp Plasmacluster as we arent heavy users and dont need an inverter. Continue with the friendly debate, it'll be the winner's choice! Good luck!
  10. Oh dear, why so ex huh? You got lots of lights and lighting points?
  11. We are chatting Ahblur! Yeah, I agree! I was checking out ur t-blog, just a little more to go huh? Soon soon, be patient and u will be the Queen of ur house!
  12. Yup, we have been monitoring the price for Sharp Plasmacluster for more than a month now. The price hasn't fluctuated. Also, Hongtar allows for phone booking. They will be down on Tuesday morning to do the piping works. But need to make pre-payment of 50%. Mudster bargained for 30% and so we'll be making 30% payment today.
  13. Actually Mudster and I liked red, option B but now come to think of it, option A is a safer option. Plus like what has been mentioned earlier, if I want colour, I can always play ard with the bedsheet colours. I havent had time to discuss this with Mudster, we've been busy getting wedding plans organised! Today we'll be popping by Hongtar (Tampines) to make payment for our Sharp Plasmacluster ($1800). Gain City could match up to the price. But because K wanted the air-con to be installed in two phases, Gain City wld charge $84 for the second trip. So we went for Hongtar, cos theirs is free! Anyways, both are established dealers, so had to grab the best deal!
  14. Hey people, thanks for all your comments. Actually our ID, K proposed colour scheme A but we thought that the whole house is brown theme, and so shld go for another colour so we thought of red. How ley, seems like everyone voted for A. !! I like it too, but dont u think it's so boring seeing brown brown brown all over e house? Actually only the furniture and carpentry is brown for the house. The living and dining room colours are whitish. Study room is green and guest room is silverish. Hmmm maybe brown wall huh?
  15. Hey people! Need your help here, which do u think is better? A or B? (A) (B)
  16. Nice colours Ah Kiat! I chose my colours on Monday but I can't remember the exact names. Green in study room, Silverish in guest room and either shades of red or brown in MBR! We're going for tone of white in living/dining area!
  17. Thanks FSP, when I bought the platform bed from Barang Barang didn't realise that the base would affect the performance of the mattress. I guess even two planks will provide the solid, flat base board that is needed. As long as there are no holes, like the striped planks. !! I guess I better call up salesperson at BarangX2 to check.
  18. Hi hi people. I got my Simmons Beautyrest Symphony for $1728 at Robinson's Spring sale on Friday. Any comments or feedback? I hope I made a good buy. It comes with pillow top but it is not non-flip !!
  19. Hi people, got a question. Do platform bedframes have a flat base for the mattress to lie on? Or are they striped? Apparently, for a mattress to perform optimally, the base got to be flat not striped. !!
  20. I would suggest tt u let HDB do the rectification 1st. I guess it's an accepted norm to hand over ur home to HDB for the 1st month after u've collected ur keys. It would be better that way, take it step by step. Once they're done, then your contractor can come into play. You won't want unnecessary conflicts. I hope tt helps
  21. Thanks Mudster darling Wah Mudster darling, me feeling stressed already! Don't know if I'll make a good cook
  22. Hey Joyz, I can't wait to see the floor tiles in its full grandeur! I'm so blur, did realise that u have a link to ur reno blog. Just checked it out! I like the colour of ur kitchen cabinets! In no time, ur place will done!
  23. Hi Ahblur, just realised that u got a Simmons too. My Beautyrest Symphony seems similar to the Tribute, it comes with pillow top though. Is it the same for Tribute? I cant wait to try it out!
  24. Thanks Ahblur, nothing to envy. The tiles are pretty much normal looking, but thanks to K's tilers -workmanship is good. Okay, I got Simmons Beautyrest Symphony, Queen for $1728 @ Robinsons yesterday. There was an hourly promotion at 9pm and so was able to get it at that price. Selling price is $2099. You might want to check it out. The Robinsons sale is till tomoro. You might get an even better deal Hey Cheesecake, I'm so pleased to see you here more often now We were actually deciding between King Koil and Simmons. The last time we checked out the mattresses at Robinsons was last November. So this time when my dear friend highlighted the spring sale, I had to go check it out. Of course, Mudster and I were still a little reluctant to spend a bomb on the mattress but somehow when well-wishers keep telling us that a good mattress is important, we relented. I really hope that Simmons would prove to be comfortable and relaxing as it claims to be and I can in peace. We went down again today, Mudster has taken more pictures. We'll wait for him to update k Hey Ben, thanks for dropping by. Good luck for your reno too!
  25. K sends his regards too! Yeah I've started disturbing him since yesterday and he has been very accomodating. Plus he'll call to confirm before making a decision - I like that My tiles are polished not matt. Today K went down to inspect and he reported that tiles have been done very well - flat! He said that after the chemical wash, the cement stain will go but he has warned us that the buffing mark can be seen. I scared le..I hope this 'buffing mark' wont be too obvious. Apparently, it's a manufacture's defect caused during polishing Oh yes, I almost forgot! Can I please announce that Mudster and I are the proud owners of our Simmons Beautyrest mattress! Got it at the Robinson's sale today!
