  1. You want to see SilesStone, just visit Builder Shop showroom at changi road east, you can get actual address from their website. Seriously if you want white color, CaesarStone 1141 is good enough.
  2. Seriously the gap is not big, just seal with silicon, when the silicon is hardened, it will act as a sturdy support for the base cabinet too. I am not asking you to squeeze the whole tube of silicon into the gap; just squeeze enough to cover the gap + a bit more then use your finger to slide along the edge to make it even and good.
  3. Congrats in getting your own place. From photo it doesnt look dirty, in fact your condition is so much better than ours when we first got ours; indian owner rented out to foreign workers, whole place infested with ants, roaches and bed bugs, smell like rubbish disposable center. The toilet is the squatting type and it was so black as if 10 years never wash. This is how it look like now... after a major overhaul. Living room Kitchen
  4. Mike, $100 pfr kitchen cabinet cant get good workmanship and material, that i can bet on it; not surprise they use hollow plywood in the construction of the carcass or panel. External uses the cheapest poor quality laminate and internal thin white pvc. Or else where got profit?
  5. There is extra work involve if you want Blum hardware, that require extra fee, and that extra fee is labelled as installation fee. I would suggest you let your carpenter buy the Blum hardware, cos they can get trade discount, if you buy, you wont get the trade discount. Some carpenter dont charge you for installation fee if you let them buy the hardware cos they earn from the trade discount and charge you the price from catalog.
  6. Just checked mine... confirmed no gap and the hood is secure to cabinet by 4 screws, bottom of hood and bottom of top cabinet is level.
  7. Should be able to see from this picture. I think if your carpenter rework for you, also cannot be like mine.
  8. If you want Blum hardware for your kitchen cabinet, you must let your carpenter know in advance so they can prepare the cabinet for Blum installation; installation fee apply. You dont keep quiet, go buy the Blum drawers and surprise your carpenter; if the carcass (base cabinet) has been assemble, you will burn an extra hole in your wallet.
  9. Go download it yourself from Blum SG website.
  10. Just relax and enjoy the moment with the man you love. Learn how to count your most fertile date. If you rush it in your mind, your body will tense up, harder for his sperm to reach your egg.
  11. iQuartz is also quartz but their thickness is 15mm, not sure if they have 20mm and 30mm, their color also limited. If you dont mind the thickness and the color, and if they can offer it cheap to you (rough gauge $150-$200 pfr), you can go for it. CaesarStone is between $220-$250 while SilesStone is between $180-$280; both brands subject to size of slab and color.
  12. Mine almost no gap. This is due to the carpenter bring my hood back to factory to custom fit when building my top cabinet. Let me go home tonight and check again.
  13. aiyo... not your fault. i'm lucky, my MIL staying opposite block, already instructed her to check on renovation progress twice a day and tabao kopi and bao for all workers onsite. if 'm there personally for those 1 off installation like aircon installer, tv installer (wall-mount), city gas (connecting gas to hob) will get kopi $ ($10 each person before or during their installation progress, not after).
  14. Actually my aircon installer also brought the wrong bracket, can use but not 100% suitable so after they go lunch they went back to their company to change the bracket. They themselves said they feel paiseh cos this is the first time they get kopi $ before they start work and the owner even tabao kopi and buy bao for them for tea break, they said sometime they also get tipped but usually after they finish their job.
  15. This is very common due to your mortar base is not flat or your wall is slanted. Your carpenter should seal the gap with silicon. Since now you discover ants and roaches in your kitchen, i would suggest you squeeze some roach and ant bait (poison) into the gap and seal it up with silicon, you can buy at home-fix, cost only a few dollars.
  16. Sorry to hear about your experience. Lucky my friend whose is a architectural designer together with his groups of workers, completely tear down the interior and rebuild it in a month with kitchen counter top arriving a week later. Everything nice and good, no hiccup at all.
  17. aircon installer everywhere also got bad review... its funny how $10 kopi $ (each) can go a long way. they sweep, they vacuum, they do a good good job before they go.
  18. Should go for CaesarStone 1141 (20mm) quartz instead of LG Hi-mac 100% acrylic, I worry it will be an eye sore for you in 5 years time. How long is the 2 L-shape kitchen cabinet? You can calculate yourself, just X $250 pfr. Will not burn a hole in pocket.
  19. Should not have unless warped due to moisture in wood suck dry by aircon. Laminate if got sound means your cement floor is not 100% flat or/& the installer didnt lay a foam sheet to absorb the unevenness before laying the laminates.
  20. Top-mount sink is still the most popular. There is this brand that Hensley used to carry a decade ago but dont know why they stop it. Simply love their top-mount sinks... Suter Inox AG.
  21. There is a very bad thing about Blanco sink, if you cook often, after a few months, there will be sticky residue on the side wall that cannot be easily clean off, if under-mount, there is simply no way to change the sink. Doing top-mount you can still change the sink to something stainless steel of similar size.
  22. i bought them from big paint shop frequent by contractors, along Upper Changi Road, near to Kembangan. There is a strong smell when painting it to the floor, no smell after dried.
  23. Use quartz for counter top lah, since you already spent so much on cabinet hardware... Blum, Hettich... hehe. Dark soy sauce, red wine left overnight on my quartz also cannot stain it, what are you waiting for? Last Sunday while scooping the noodle from the pot i accidentally hold the handle which is too hot, got to set it down fast fast on my quartz. Guess what? No burn mark at all. Can you do the same to Samsung full acrylic counter top?
