Day 28 (05 Sep 2012) Painting started today. According to ID, they will finish 2 coats in 4 days. Then the last coat will be done after carpentry is up. We will need to get our downlights fast. Need them to be in next Tuesday for installation.

Day 27 (04 Sep 2012) Didn't have the time to go down today. Anyway I doubt that there will be anything done today as we are now waiting for the carpentry to be ready. The carpenter took all the measurements yesterday already. Went shopping for MBR pendant light in the evening but didn't find any to our liking.

Why dun go for quartz if she likes lighter colour?

Yes, so far they are very prompt and responsible and never shy away from their mistakes or try to talk me into accepting the mistakes. I just felt that most of these could have been avoided in the first place if the communication was better.

Day 26 (03 Sep 2012) The window for the bay window went up today. But alas... Another miscommunication between ID and contractor. I'd wanted a casement window. In fact my whole house was fitted with casement windows. They installed a sliding window for me instead. ID was very apologetic and promised to change it ASAP. Actually I really felt sorry for them. Maybe a big part of their margin goes into all these mistakes. If only these mistakes can be cut down.

The bathroom wares are gonna burn a big hole. I spent easily 4k just for 2 toilets. Of course you can save some by not equipping all with the full ra ra like rain showers. Let's see, you can have one resort style, one hotel glam style, one modern style, one English style... Ok I've run out of styles for your toilets. Hahahaa

Finally confirmed all the paint colours and laminates today. Also changed 2nd floor toilet vanity top to quartz because we cannot find a matching marble. Now just needs to wait for house to complete. Have already set aside 28 Sep as the move in date. Hopefully everything goes well!

I think it will look nicer if the plank is of the same thickness and curves up instead so you have a split of sort where one side curves down and one curves up

Day 25 (01 Sep 2012) Today is marble choosing day. Went to the Hafary factory at Sungei Kadut to choose the slabs for our vanity tops. Wow! We have never seen so much marble before! Finally chosen this Didyma slab. Intend to cut out 2 slabs for the 2 toilets. Only problem is that I will have 1.2mX1.2m left, and the guy said must buy the whole slab. Anyone interested to share with me please pm me. Else I may have to use it to make a coffee table.

We went to wall story at kallang leisure park in the evening to confirm our wallpapers. On our way back, popped into Mega Discount store to look see. Bad move! One hour later, we walked out with 2TVs, a fridge and $4918 poorer!

If it's just reno, it's probably about $95k. That should be close to the final figure, though do note that 1. I did a lot of hacking and tiling works. In fact, I replaced almost all the tiles inside the house. And I have a taste for expensive tiles 2. I am using caesarstone quartz for kitchen top, island top and integrated dining table. 3. I am using marble for all my toilet vanity tops, total of 9ft. I'd probably say my ID's quotation is pretty reasonable.

Day 24 (31 Aug 2012) Tilers came in to complete the last bit at the drainage area. I'd wanted to buy them dinner today but they declined. So I bought lunch for them instead Nasi Ayam Penyet and Cheng Tng from the nearby Bedok food centre. Somebody from Wall Story also came down and took down measurements for our wallpaper requirements. We are going to need 4 rolls! Thereafter we will need to confirm the paint colours so that the painters can start work on the painting portion.
