  2. Hi Dino, Does your upstairs neighbour consist of 'heavy' or hyperactive people? As I asked around, it seems that the hollowness in the false ceiling can amplify the sound... For my situation we gotten used to it after some time, cos we can't control their movement mah. However there was a time the kid was playing Ping Pong ball & it was really irritating, so my husband just went upstairs to tell them nicely. They explained that they also very hard to control their 4 active grandchildren, so hope we also understand...Nevertheless the sound reduced.. It's a give & take thing lor
  3. Hey everyone, Ho Bee was featured in MyPaper on Dec 5 - check it out
  4. I just had my housewarming with Neo Garden as caterer. It was GOOD ! The caterers were on time to set up & the way they set the table cloth also very nice. All my guest commented the food very delicious, esp. the Chicken Curry, Chocolate Eclair, Almond Jelly & Fried rice. I had my party on Sun afternoon, so on Fri they sms me to confirm. Then on Sun morning they sms me again to give me the hp no. of person in charge to bring the food ( in case no show or any problems). Then after the party they sms me again thank me for choosing them. Very happy & satisfied with their service

  6. Hi CPE, Been looking forward to your blog for so long, now finally seeing it ..WOW I'm totally BLOWN AWAY.....SO NICE .....Your house look really fresh & cosy..the colours are very refreshing, complements really well with the whole environment... My favourite part is the living room & dining area, just by looking from the pics can imagine feeling really nice & happy being there I can see that you're a great bargain hunter too, must learn more from you I almost became your neighbour u know, but somehow at that time the COV there was out of my budget..The environment there very good, lots of greenery & fresh air..U also got very good view, really look like resort from hotel window leh CONGRATULATIONS on your SUCCESSFUL reno I think it was worth every penny that u spent with Ho Bee..Great turnout
  7. heheh, in terms of Feng Shui i have the curtain long enough to cover the mirror door when sleeping
  8. really spooky leh ...but i observe my upstairs neighbours house is quite dark always (maybe save electricity?) with a lots of clutters inside. Like got uncomfortable feeling when look into it. Reading this make me feel even more scarier..
  9. hahaha..instead of jumping she'll roll ard the house ..the bouncing was so bad that even my lights were vibrating at each sound, so my hubby screw the lights even more tighter in fear that they may fall. Yesterday night someone upstairs was playing marbles loudly, so i took a stick and knock the ceiling a few times, then the sound stop. Guess i found my new 'weapon' now Hmm, in that case it'll be a big waste of money to install false ceiling if it doesn't work. I get what u mean, like laminated floor if no put rubber in btw the floor and the wood, there'll hollow space, so when drop things on floor the sound will be louder..i guess is same principle for false ceiling Anyway Thanks for your feedback guys If i get a house next time, i'm definitely choosing the highest floor
  10. thanks Art Ching...hahaha ya at first it was funny, but the sounds are starting to get on our nerves... although inform the neighbours very nicely they're very defensive & uncooperative..so i guess if we can't change the environment, we have to change ourselves...dunno if it's worth investing in soundproof ceiling or not..actually to install false ceiling now also troublesome & not cheap also ..sigh
  11. Hi anyone, Can a normal false ceiling reduce the loudness of sounds from upstairs neighbours (especially foot sounds from FAT kids who love to bounce around ) Your kind advice is deeply appreciated
  12. Oh, i hv forgotten to put my feedback here. Anyway Movers_101 did a good job. They came on time, were really careful with my stuffs. Very friendly boss too, who came along to move ( it's a family business). Good value for money
  13. Hi Mivec2.4, Really really appreciate your kind compliments Thank you p/s: yes, you're right, those little rectangles are indeed tiles
  14. Hi mivec2.4, Sorry for the late reply.. my kitchen cost abt $3300 (cabinet + top)
  15. In terms of lastingness, still depends on maintenance i guess.. the installer say that if the washing detergent always get on the Granite, it can change the granite colour. So whenever i wash dishes, some detergent tend to spill on the granite, then i always 'kan cheong' faster wipe off. If you're a light kitchen users, solid surface shld be good enough.. It cleans easily with soap and water.. Also no the need for periodic sealers like granite For me i'm just particular abt scratches, cos i like to use big heavy pots (may tend to drag), so will feel very heart pain if see scratch on black solid surface ** some tips for solid surface ** Solid surface countertops are virtually maintenance-free. They are perfect for busy people who do not have a lot of time to spend on cleaning and maintaining their kitchen. They are also perfect for people who like to give out parties, bake for the family, or cook for friends and loved ones. Solid surface countertops can take a lot of abuse, so it is the perfect material for kitchen countertops. Solid surface is the ideal material for bar countertops or vanity countertops where spills and stains are most likely to happen. Solid surface countertops can still look beautiful and new even without the extra care. Solid surface countertops can stain when you spill food, drinks, chemicals, or any liquid with color on the surface. However, because they are nonporous, the stain does not penetrate deep into the solid surface. The stain would not be permanent. It can easily be removed by wiping it out or scrubbing the affected surface. Their regular maintenance only requires washing the surface with a solution of soap and water to maintain their shine and beauty. Solid surface countertops do not need sealing unlike most natural stone countertops. Their tight seams and nonporous surface prevent molds, mildew, germs, and bacteria from inhabiting and growing on the surface. You can have a sanitized and germ-free kitchen with a solid surface countertop. Difficult stains There can be some stains that cannot be removed by simply scrubbing them with soap and water. If you find yourself having a hard time removing a stain on your solid surface countertop, you can try soaking the affected area with a mild household cleaner such as Windex or Lysol for approximately 10 minutes. Afterwards, rinse it with water and wipe with a soft Scotch Brite pad. You can remove dry and hardened particles such as gum or food by scraping it off the surface using a putty remover or a blade. To clean further, wash the area with soap and warm water. Be careful with the blade or the putty remover because it can scratch the surface of your solid surface countertop. However, if you do scratch the surface, you can always remedy this problem by buffing it with a brush or polish. Chemicals to avoid When cleaning difficult stains or when simply giving your solid surface countertop its regular maintenance, never use harsh cleaning chemicals such as Liquid Plummer or Drano. Also, do not use floor stripper cleaners and oven cleaners because these harsh chemicals can warp the surface or diminish the color of your countertop. It is very easy to remove stains on a solid surface countertop, so there is no need to use harsh chemicals that can only compound the problem.
  16. Actually at first we chose solid worktop, but we really wanted black colour, and for black solid surface when scratch will be quite obvious..otherwise solid table top is oso ok lah, my company pantry oso use it, still looks good after few years..If no good won't be selling in the market liao
  17. wow, Corian..this is the 1st time i'm hearing this type of material...google it up & found these: http://www.countertopsofthefuture.com/Soli...ian/corian.html "Corian products are very attractive. In addition, Corian is deemed to be more sturdy and durable than granite counter tops. You also can realize a cost savings in most instances by purchasing Corian products as opposed to natural granite. While you might not be able to increase the asking price for your home as high with Corian as you might be able to accomplish with granite, Corian will nonetheless add value to your residence in advance of putting it on the market." Wah CPE, you must post pic and let me see this Corian worktop leh
  18. Yup i thought it was cool too when i first saw it, didn't specifically ordered, came as part of the cabinet package. It helps the cabinet door stays lifted up hands-free, until you close it down Hi Smartfool, No prob, i was quoted $100 pft for supply & install the granite top
  19. Thanks mivec2.4 Yup, they are laminated
  20. I bought mine at $80. It depends on the size of the decal, and how much material you use. Also the more different colours you have, the more materials will be used. Compared to getting a painting, i think i'll still choose this one - more interesting n hv personalised touch Whatever design u hv in your mind, not necessarily from their catalog, they can also do for u
  21. Yup, it's from Modishop at Suntec City. U can refer to their website below: http://www.modishop.com/shop/index.php
  22. hahah..after you snap try telling him you will put in renotalk, see he will turn pale or not, cos he very shy one After next time whenever he see camera he will 'siam' - runaway Thanks Starscream! Really appreciate your comments
  23. Hi Dove, Thanks! So far the maintenance is ok, cos we use the sponge kind of mop, which is a bit wet only (as long as doesn't drench the floor) to clean the stains & dust, but very fast to dry, so won't harm the laminate floor We oso use floor detergent formulated for laminate floor, which has linseed oil soap to protect the joints, and against swelling (written on the label) . U can find this at ntuc or other household stores . Yes you still can see the joint lines , but it's kinda like part of the design, won't protrude obviously, due to no gap I bought the sponge mop from the auntie provision shop at abt $8 Hi Simple Guy80, The TV console i actually bought from vhive at $369 only. You can see the spec from their website in below link (model no. SS1567G OY 6) : http://www.vhive.com.sg/listing.php?cat_p=...c=32&from=3 For the Display cabinet I bought from The Green furnishing at Woodlands civic centre at abt $400 +. Wish I'd bought at Vhive instead since it’s cheaper. The only plus point for this display cabinet is that the 4 sides/ corners are wood, so it’s more stable and protected.
