  1. Got a friend using the iphone in Singapore. Ownself cracked by using help from internet.
  2. ha.. ya, my colleague forward me the picture. I know for pastries.. Polar is halal cerified, recently Old Chang Kee is halal certified. We sometime buy snacks for Meetings.. so have to be particular about what we buy as we have many muslim colleagues. So the safest is to buy Polar usually. Now 1 more choice, Old Chang Kee
  3. Usually banquet muslim menu is not "halal" certified, unless Muis comes in to give a Halal Cert for the day.
  4. Of cos some dishes may not be possible due to the ingredients, but they will let you know. My experience, most dishes can be done, cos can substitute ingredients, but it might not taste exactly the same.
  5. You can take their chinese menu or even mix the dishes. We often do that for our d&d.. our muslim colleagues see the chinese menu dish, they can request the same one to be cooked for them too, by the muslim chef. They can have a no pork no lard menu, and the other poultry is all from halal suppliers. And on top of that, if the ingredients and kitchen is certified by Muis, definately no problem.

  7. Of cos you and ur wife are welcome. But Heee.. oda, we just started renovation.. will invite you guys up when there's more stuff up ? Now the floor's not even done yet
  8. LadyLuck, I sent you the menus and info. Take a look
  9. You can see the clipsal and legrand products on their website. some of the prices are found in this thread, courtsey of another forumer. http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?s=...st&p=232306 I also checked the prices with CCM, and should be buying within this 2 weeks. Just no decide on the range.. I seen the cables behind the hdb switches, they are of same colour usually, so you need to take note of earth, neutral and live points if you want to ownself fix.
  10. Only few days into the reno, will try to post more pics when there's progress
  11. Wiring done, Materials Delivered
  12. After months.. the renovation on our 5 room flat has finally started. We got our keys in June, signed up with our ID in early July and finally start our reno in end Oct. Have benefitted greatly from the wealth of information shared here, and also got to know many nice neighbours View from our living room
  13. Since you are doing for room doors, why don't just change the door ? Since the room doors are not fire rated, they shouldnt cost as much as the main door. Btw, thanks for having us at your place yday
  14. Let me forward you their Chinese Menu when I get back to work as it's in my office pc ? PM me your email address ok. The grand ballroom at Mandarin, max is 100 tables, not sure what's the min for that ballroom or there's other available ballroom, as I was looking for those which can hold at least 60 tables. What I know is they will be starting progressive reno for the whole hotel starting from Nov 07 all the way till end 2008. When's your big day ?
  15. No worries, maybe u pm what else u need to know. Since I already settled my AD venue, and also currently on search for d&d, I see what info I can pass u.
  16. Was out whole day attending to reno stuff. I will check with my colleague when I go work and let you know. How many tables are you looking at ? Im currently also sourcing for venues for my d&d, and it includes 20+ tables of muslim on top of the chinese tables..
  17. oh ya, forgot to mention, Mandarin's menu is no pork no lard, even for the Chinese Menu, and their polutry are halal. There might be a fee involved for the Muis to come and cleanse the kitchen. You want to know more ? I can check with my muslim colleague as they are in charge of it for our d&d.
  18. Hi, LadyLuck, Would you be interested in Meritus Mandarin ? I understand they cater to same menu for both Menu for Muslim and Chinese Tables. I saw their ballroom, it was renovated last Oct, quite nice now. To serve the problem of the Halal Cert, as all hotels banquet departments do not have halal certs, usually what most is to get Muis to come and cleanse the kitchen, crockery and utensils. It will be sealed until they use it. Btw, Swissotel can hold >100 tables for their biggest ballroom. The other 2 ballrooms are max 60 and 30 respectively, depending on which ballroom you take.
  19. use those website to check, reliable ? else can mafan you, Mace?
  20. Erm. I can't comment it's too much or not. It's your comfort level. Some items are quite detailed. For my case, it's a mixed of both. Maybe it's important to include the type of materials to be used, and the whole dimension. If you are quite sure, you wont change the design or colour, then it's good to include the details. It can be good or bad, but since you have not any reference or know of pple who use him, it's actually safer to include the details. But then, he might stick very strict to the quote and anything slightly off, he will charge.
  21. JS21, what kind of detail are you talking about ? Most Signed Quotations do have level of details. If you are not comfortable with him, maybe it's not a good idea to sign with him.
  22. Anyone bought R22 aircons recently ?
  23. My fridge will be placed next to my row of cabinets at the end, so even if without a base, I will still need to decide how much space I need to leave for the fridge. Would prefer a base so it looks in line with the cabinet and also for washing the kitchen floor purpose. For washer, I will put a long base, as I would be probably getting a dryer. For that, Im considering the Depth now.
  24. I remember one of the forumers from our estate paint over the door to another colour.
  25. Thanks. Actually the fridge I have in mind is <70cm. But my HTB ask what if I want to change to bigger fridge in future. My ID says a 90cm Base is a safe dimension for 1 side door fridge , but Im thinking is it a bit too big ? For washer, Im constructing for both dryer n washer, side by side. Looking at a top load washer and front load dryer.
