Yep, they removed the old one nicely before pasting the new one. My mom was there to open the door for the sub-con, she mentioned an older guy Mr Neo plus 2 workers was there. Mr Neo said must look for my main contractor, cannot go to him directly...not ethical coz he got the business through my main contractor Alex. Haha.... My main contractor must be a 'good' guy with all these sub contractors...all of them always say must let him know, they won't accept add-on by-passing Alex. The electrician uncle was also like that... I PM you my main con number and cost....not sure if you would get charged the same though...maybe different window numbers and all..... You can try contacting him to see if he can help with the small project.

The quite plain black TV console I got from the same furniture shop. It was shown in the catalog only in white...hehe...I asked the shop if they have it in black and this is the end product after 'customisation'. Black slightly glossy exterior. The top is a piece of glass. Inside laminate is a dark walnut color.

The 8 feet wardrobe I got from neighbourhood furniture shop. Waited a very long time for this. It only arrived around 6.45pm today...took 3 guys to fix it up.

Forgot to update the window film earlier : Not bad workmanship. slight bubbles at the very end corners, but it could be it's not fully adhered yet when I saw them around Wednesday. The sub-contractor replaced them Tuesday late afternoon. I forgot to take a closer look today when I was at the unit....oh well, not a big concern to me, so I didn't check again. Much better than the previous owner's whose film stopped very short of the edge of the window, so can see about 1cm of glass collecting dirt.... This is one of the loose pieces I found lying around...stuck to curtains mostly. haha... I asked for plain white color to get the frosted glass effect.

My 'old fashioned' dining table. I dunno...my sister keeps saying marble is old fashioned...but I thought it looked ok. Color is an off-white with the natural markings of marble (some brown, some grey, some beige) In the midst of setup ~ Closer look : ~

Haven't been able to update at all past week. Mostly finished, but found a corner under aircon trunking not painted...but that's about all I spotted....Actually is my mum spotted when she happen to be sitting down and look across the room... LOL.... I dunno how to check or really ok? Next is the headache on packing and moving.....Any recommendations for movers?

Sorry not of help in all the brands you listed. Any chance you would consider Toshiba? Haha....My parents and sister both using Toshiba for >5 years, so far no problems... Servicing is by Carrier though...I dunno if they bought over Carrier or the other way round. I also got Toshiba for my place.

Where To Get Those Metal Shelves For Storage In The Storeroom?
koori replied to pinkytan's topic in Living, Dining & Storage
Haha....maybe you should have tried another way to ask the question like 'what metal is that slotted angle made of?' Is that what you are trying to ask arh? -

ahboi ~ on second thought, wait for my sticker film to be up first, then see see the workmanship before recommending/getting contacts...just in case.... *cross fingers, cross toes, touch wood* ! Haha.... Thanks for the tip ~ I offically wave white flag liao. As my sis says, me keyboard user should stick to keyboard work, earn liao then pay the experts to do. Already throw to contractor go get sub-con experts to take off the window sticker and replace. Currently waiting for contractor to arrange coz I added so last minute. LOL.

Article on comparison here (some angmo website, but I thought the comparison in table form was nicely listed) : http://www.abellastonellp.com/products_comparison.cfm Main issue with solid top is that it is not heat resistant. Must remember do not place hot pans/pots or watever on the counter top, will leave a mark. Not sure about the pricing though. There are several brands of quartz in the market. iQuartz is just one of the brands.

My fault.... I am avoiding cabinets that are located high up if you notice, I got no top kitchen cabinets as well. It's my personal problem lah. Was considering that I can't climb up often...so the less stuff up there near the ceiling that needs maintenance the better. Hi~ nothing much done to the other 2 bedrooms. Likely spare rooms for parents' if they wanna stay over or future rental room. haha... Not sure who my contractor look for. I will try asking him if he can give me the individual contacts. Must have the patience and time to remove the film....do-able, but very tough! Especially frustrated when the film starts coming off in smallish strips! I do not recommend the penknife. The scraper works better..... hahaha.....Not sure if the professionals will have it easier. Maybe it's just a walk in the park for them. Sofa is $1099, GST included.

Dunno what model you were looking at, but I got Electrolux vented dryer (7kg) at Courts for $629. Just for reference. Not sure if true, but sales person told me no difference 'performance' wise. It depends on your preference on the location of the freezer. Probably good to talk to sales persons to see if there is a different talk for your case. Was told this : If freezer on the bottom, means you dunnid to bend down to get stuff out of the bottom drawer (usually used to put veggies) as they will be located to the higher parts of the fridge instead. However, now it means you got to bend down to dig for your frozen goods located at the bottom of the fridge. For me, I think I will buy frozen meats and stuff (e.g. icecream) more than veggies......so I went for top freezer. LOL

Last delivery received today: Fridge, microwave ~ The design at the side which i mentioned quite a number of posts ago...this is where the plug for the fridge went through to connect to the power outlet.

More pics of the bed. I chose a greyish colored synthetic leather for the headboard...Think it looks more like taupe in most of the pictures. My plain Akemi bedsheet in this photo~

Took leave specially today to wait for stuff at the unit. More pictures less talk~ First arrival, sofa. The two throw pillows were complimentary. 2nd arrival, my super single bed frame and mattress. The bed frame is FOC from the purchase of the mattress. The free mattress protector and pillow that came with the mattress as well :

Tried to remove the window film during the weekend.... For those who are keen to try, the youtube video method works....though not as well on my really really old window film. It doesn't come off as cleanly as shown on the video. The reason why I wanted to remove the film and replace was I suspected the film is discolored after all these years. The windows never looks clean even after massive cleaning. Alex was kind enough to get his workers to clean the windows too during general cleaning...but it still looked grimy somehow. It looks fine from afar on the photos....but in person you can see the 'brownish' tinge. And the film I pulled off is really brown tinged. This is as far as I got before I gave up....started at 1pm, gave up around 6.30pm. Took 5.5 hours to remove 2 big panes + 3 small panes of film. And those 'whitish' stuff you see on the window are glue residue....which will take even more time to clean~ Waving the white flag....I surrender! Sad to say, I have arthritis. It's usually associated with the old age, but I have a medical condition that causes this...haven't hit 40s but already have 60 year old bones..未老先衰。 This work is super unfriendly on my finger joints....had red swollen finger joints by the evening..inflammation coming liao..... Decided to let the professionals earn the money instead. Called Alex, my contractor this morning and he'll arrange. For those considering DIY removal, you might have better success than me.... [i doubt anyone else as suay as me to kenna arthritis in mid 30s.] Stuff I found out : 1. Let the water soak for longer the better, more water the better. 2. Stainless steel blades / flat edged scraper do not harm the glass at all. No scratch even when I scraped pretty hard.[Disclaimer : Try on a small not noticeable area first. I'm not sure if there are different 'grades' of glass out there. ] 3. Glue residue actually just sits 'on top' of the glass. Spray lots of soap water, flat edged scraper actually can scrape them off. [i did read off the net that vegetable oil / peanut butter {because of the oil content} works to dissolve the glue residue, with some rubbing, as well. I didn't have either of these with me at my unit so haven't try, but both are easy to find stuff as compared to strong chemicals and confirm no harm to your skin....so would probably have tried if I did manage to go on with the DIY ] Sobs. First DIY try and have to abort it halfway. Not even 1 room's window film completely removed.

back splash ? Usually made of tempered glass between top and bottom cabinets. I don't have this coz no top cabinets.

Thanks for the guide! I did read your blog, but didn't read all of it..this chunk didn't register in my memory at all... haha....alamak, should have read it earlier, didn't know ikea have tool sets. I just went ikea yesterday and not feeling like going again. Really tedious waiting for the shuttle bus, it doesn't follow the estimated timing posted on ikea's website at all. Oh well, there are lots of hardware shops around my new place, shall go walk walk this afternoon and see what is available. For hand-drills.....is there anything wrong with re-chargeable types? Not enough power arh? I was considering a bosch screwdriver cum drill rechargeable set leh....though not the mini ones though. I think won't be able to drill concrete. I have handled power drill before (helped mom ~ she's the handywoman around our place, not dad. LOL), so I know concrete walls are tough. thank you. I'm sort of glad it worked out...haha...kitchen is the place where a lot of my budget went to. Must be swee else I heart pain. hahaha.... Wow. You can guess my plans? haha...I plan to put the dining table at the corner connecting to living room. Resale flats tend to have more space in kitchens I think. I wanted a place to sit while showering. Went googling shower benches and show the contractor photographs ask him to do. Haha. I think he had to think quite long coz he got to siam the glass door and still have enough space for the very big me to get in and out of the shower area. I totally wasn't able to visualise when he was discussing with me saying he will do diagonal bench, bottom will leave it open so can put shampoo if I want.. Glad it turned out still pretty....and useable!

Er....my ostrich head in sand mode talking...Is it only around that cabinet door area you took a pic of? Can remove that cabinet door and throw it out first and treat the remaining area with that spray you got? Or is it not just on that door you took a picture of? Worried for your nice scanteak table....

Look on the bright side. One less item to maintain. Heard bathtubs are a pain to clean.

The shower screen door full view ~ Cannot open the glass door full 90 degrees due to the shower bench. Alex kept telling me not recommended coz my bathroom very small.....will have problems with the glass door. I insisted so he came up with this diagonal shower bench with the wider seat at the other side so my big backside can fit lor. hahhahaha. see my very big reflection on the glass door?

Overall view of the kitchen from the living room : [i switched on the lights coz my HP camera captured blobs of grey without the light....when in person it's totally not that dim. Must be my HP camera is 'dim'. ] The broken mirror saga I mentioned about 2 weeks ago? I went to buy another piece of the mirror. Lost the case with the seller...3 weeks since delivery was really too long. The screws were already done on the wall, so all I had to do was to adjust the hanging tabs on the back of the mirror to the correct length and aim the tabs to the screws on the wall to hang it up. Sounds easy right? And i took 15 minutes just to do this. Hahhaha.....I didn't bring testpen with me - needed that to loosen the screw to adjust the hanging tabs. Ended up I resorted to using my keychain. [keychain is in shape of a rabbit, and it's leg is flat...just like a testpen] LOL. Which reminds me. I should go get a set of screwdrivers and testpen and pliers and what other tools are usually handy in households arh?

Thanks for confirming it looks good! Haha.....actually me very newbie so a lot of stuff I leave it up to contractor to suggest and I just follow. And I was so fickle minded. First asked for granite, then decided to get quartz after seeing the blogs....
