The best and most economic flooring are tiles. They are able to last very long. For timber, laminates or vinyl, the maintenance of the surface can be a pain in the ***. Cost wise, the depreciation of using tiles is way lesser than woods or vinyl. But when aesthetics come into play, it is a different ball game. I would definitely go for tiles. Not so much of a hassle for maintenance.

Actually, i think HDB works on a complaints only basis, like most government sectors. THe golden rule is "do anything, but do not get caught".

Actually selling should engage agents to save time and money. The commission might look big, but considering the time and adverts they put in, it saves the time to talk to just one or two agents. Moreover, it is caps the downside of sinking in advertisement cost. Buyers can just flip the adverts by the agents to buy. no need agents.

Marble is quite slippery when wet. Might not be a good choice for old folks and children

Hacking have to be subjected to hdb's approval. You can start sourcing for quotes and ideas to go about your new place.

I just done up my unit. Workmanship normal but the contractor is prompt with the repairs. Heard from him that he is currently specialising in basic id for BTO units. Price wise, he is not the cheapest that I have sourced, but more definitely more responsive and responsible than the few I have looked up for.

My friend has just done up his BTO unit kitchen cabinets, painting and miscellaneous stuff for less than 10k from some new start up renovation company. They provide basic ID for your new house.
