  1. A perspective of the U S property market facing difficulties by mortgages turning sour , will it affect the market here, it's anybody's guess : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfR-rvFU0mA
  2. Well, here's a picture i took of the last box of donuts bought last week.......from Donuts Factory Suntec outlet....
  3. Hello gear box, I've recently 3 to 4 months ago used this direct manufacturer for my mum's 3 room flat: F3 Interior & Supply Pte Ltd Blk 1074, Eunos Ave 6, #01-181 , S'pore 409630 Tel : 6842 0455 Miss Tay is the sales co-ordinator, Johnny is the boss (or at least I think he is). Each bi-fold costs $180 inclusive of dismantling old door, and installation of new one. I don't know if they will charge higher if only one door is to be done. The lock is at the middle of the door , about waist level. I 've done 2 bifold doors for both toilets, plus one glass sliding door for kitchen/living room separator. Would have posted the pictures here but I have forgotten how.
  4. During Reno, these floor to ceiling pipes by the right hand side of kitchen wall /corner , undergoing cabinet installation.... The pipes on the extreme right hand side : Glass Doors placed on the front can be opened & shut from the front : Glass Doors Closed
  5. My mum's old kitchen had the same problem too, it's just HDB's design ....... so when we did the reno last month ...we boxed them up but with glass doors a part of the kitchen cabinets' design.....pictures below soon
  6. Halo Homeowner, Thank you for the very prompt response and the contact details for the kitchen hardware supplier. I have noted your remarks about the chrome basket and will check this out further. Thanx... : )
  7. Halo eR1c, Regarding the water pressure from your shower head in the master room toilet, the design of the head is of the thicker type than your common bathroom, hence as the water passes through the heater (where it is constricted into a narrow pipe for heating) the water pressure drops and with a larger volume head, the water flow is further weakened as it comes out. You may wish to buy separately a shower head with a slimmer design on the head.....similar to the one your common bathroom has. My mum's toilet had this problem too, so I bought her a new slim shower head (10 bucks) , I will post a picture below... and she is a happy mum now.

Hello wtg54. I have some mosaic tiles in sheets (30 cm X 30 cm) left over from my mum's recent reno of her kitchen basin ... I think you can have them for a couple of dollars per sheet as she does not need them anymore..... I think there are about up to 10 sheets , but have to check to be sure ? The colour of the tiles is light green in different tones as these pictures indicate : Please PM if you are still interested, maybe you will need 5 or 6 sheets only.....
  9. Hello white affair, I have just completed my reno for kitchen & 2 toilets ( resale 3NG at AMK 611). It's a simplistic reno under very tight budget ( <8k) , given that the condition of the flat was very original, with existing 30 year old mosaic tiles for flooring in kitchen and toilets. Some of the electrical wiring had to be repositioned, there were also additional lighting, power socket and SCV points/switches for the kitchen, living room and 2 bedrooms. I didn't have any false ceilings or L boxes, so the job was completed in less than 2 days. Although my reno contractor had his own electrician , this was done by an electrician I have known many years, he is doing this free lance out of his own free time and mostly during Saturdays , and if you are able to accomodate his " flexible hours" for installation, his charges will be most reasonable ( however please do not expect drastically cheap prices as material costs have gone up a fair bit during the last 6 months). If you are keen to get a quotation from him to compare with what you have on hand, please PM.
  10. Kajua, You may wish to consider using floor laminates as an option if you do not wish to hack the marble flooring and to remove the vinyl ( "rubber" ) tiles in the 3 bedrooms. I am not too sure if you should overlay over the vinyl tiles, but the people in the laminate business should be able to provide some recommendations. I have just asked for a quotation for wood lamination for my living room and 2 bedrooms (excluding store room) , pretty reasonable at $1180 ( about $2.80 psf) all in, inclusive GST and installation plus helping to move existing furniture from one room to another in the process of installation. My current flooring is giddy design vinyl sheets held on by glue to the cement floor, yes very old stuff like the one you described. I am not laying tiles, as this would be more costly and involve much more time and inconvenience . Yes, laminates are more difficult to maintain, but what else can you do for $1180 these days. If you would like the contact, please PM me.
  11. Hello blurqueen, As mentioned , it is perhaps better to engage a single contractor who can co-ordinate the flooring works, carpentry and painting as this would save you some time if you cannot do it yourself. I am in the midst of helping a friend to renovate her live in 3 room flat, just very basic works nothing fancy as she has very low budget. The works comprise: 1) Hacking the original mosaic flooring from HDB 30 years ago for the 2 toilets and kitchen, and then waterproofing and re-tiling the flooring. Nothing to be done with the existing wall tiles. 2) Replacing the old cast iron sewerage pipes from ceiling to floor with new PVC pipes and plumbing for sanitary ware. 3) Conversion of squatting to sitting bowl for the common toilet, install 2 new toilet bowls and basins. 4) Provision and installation of a 12 feet long kitchen cabinet, bottom hung only as she does limited cooking in the weekends. 5) Changing a new steel dustbin. 6) Timley Disposal of all hacking debris. The workers started hacking on Thursday and finished the day after with the tilers moving in to prepare the floor for cement screeding prior to laying the tiles ......very fast indeed. Upon completion of the flooring in 3 working days time, the cabinets will be factory built and installed on site with the next couple of days. All in , the costs of the above works , labour, plumbing and inclusive of floor tiles provided by contractor plus cabinets total up to be $5k. The appliances were self purchased like the 2 toilet bowls , 2 basins , a sink, taps and glass hob add up to another 1.2k. Hope this information is useful.......
