  1. hi jamez, Yeah, more designer style, more money come out of your pocket That's why called Designer mah. Design to get your money out. The items we seen there are really plain and simple, so dun get your hopes too high when you visit them. But then again, how long people will stay in your toilet to "Xing Shang" (appreciate) your bathroom accessories. Think they will be more impressed with your other rooms. But then again, there are all kinds of people in the world, you never know. That are solely our opinions. Of course, at least the toilets must be decent enough that people can do their business nicely. By the way, do you know there's a Moving Out Sale at METRO Tampines at Century Square (up to 70%)? Most of the items on sale are Clothings, Bags, Shoes, Bedroom Stuff, but dunno if its still on. Maybe you can check it out on the Friday newspaper. So how is the progress of your renovation works? Hope to see more photos.
  2. Hi xiaomumu, OIC, thanks for the info, maybe we will visit one of the paint shop near our house to get the Nippon catalogs. Right now we only had the Dulux catalouge (got from the mailbox). We just talked to my contractor and he explained that some items in the Package are actually below the market price and they are only making profits from other items in the package such as the Painting and Rewiring. We actually saw one Electrician Jeffrey being recommended by one of the members and now trying to get the quotation from him to see if our contractor is making high profits. We felt that since people is running a business, of course need to let them have some profits, but we also want to have things done in our Dream House, so very dilemma now. Yeah, my freelance contractor uncle also advice us when getting 3-in-1 and EasyWash type of paint, need to paint the Entire Wall at one go, no breaks allowed, if not, patches will surface after the paint dried. So now will just stick with the normal paint type (as included in the package) since we are not cleaning the wall so much.

  4. Hi everyone, Another update from us. Most of the Kitchen Wall Tiles were placed (the floor cement is left to dry so we could not go further into the Kitchen Area) and the Floor Tiles for the Study Room had arrived. The Kitchen Entrance was also done up with some tiles on the side. The Living Room Window Grilles had been replaced and the Living Room is back to square one again with lots of stores. Kitchen Entrance with cement patches. Kitchen Wall Tiles are almost completed. Floor Tiles in the Study Room. Hopefully they can complete the whole floor tiles and skirting by tommorow. Our New Living Room Window Grilles, the old one was kinda rusty and was adviced to change. And the Living Room became the storage area again. That's all for now folks. Good night.
  5. Hi eR1c, Yeah, agree that email is better that everything is also in black and white, so there will be no misunderstanding between the both parties. Thank you so much for the Pointers, will be taking this list down when doing "Spot the Defects" exercise, anyway maybe bringing our friend along too, more eyes can see more. So how long do they need to rectify the defects? Are you still in time to move in before the Chinese Lunar 7th Month 13 August 2007, Monday? All the best to you. Remember to post your house photos when it is done. Thanks Hi xiaomumu, Thanks for posting your quotation, may we know what is the kind of paint they use? The normal one or the 3-in-1 or Easywash? Mine is 1K and using normal paint and only limit 1 colour per room. Glad to revive your renovation memories, but our house is really much more simpler than yours. No budget. Thanks for the photos and the colour comparison. Really need some advice or visual aids to decide on the wall colours. Really thoughful of you, xiaomumu!
  6. Hi lifestyle, Mind posting the Electrician Jeffrey contact and the package you got from him? Currently my electrician is quoting 2.5K for the whole house rewiring, but will require additional 300 to move the MCB down to adult height due to the new HDB regulation (my house is 4S Resale). Thanks and hope to hear from you soon. !!
  7. Hi Mr Chong, Thanks for the advice, but still have some questions to ask. What do you mean by the next 27 days? Does it mean that we need to visit our house and spend a few hours there every night or need us to sleep overnight? What do we need to do for a proper move-in procedure? And what's the difference between 1-3 to 9 days? We found a website on this topic, dunno whether its applicable: Moving Into An EMPTY House Hope to hear from you soon Mr Chong, once again, thanks for your help on this.
  8. Hi applefreak, No problem, happy to share any cost savings sources. So do you have any "lobangs" to recommend too? Still trying to source for my DVD mini Hi-Fi. Went to Hong Liang and quite reasonable priced, at least cheaper than C**RTS.
  9. Hi applefreak, The shophouse is located to the side of the Bugis MRT station outside Bugis Junction. It is located to the end together with a row of dried goods shophouses and it is the only shop that sells bathroom accessories there. Here's the name and address of the place: JOO LONG 321 Victoria Street #01-06 VICTORIA STREET WHOLESALE CENTRE SINGAPORE 180321 TEL: 6298 4810 FAX: 6298 4653 Says on the invoice that they are Importer, Exported & Wholesale of household & Bathroom Products. The old uncle is very friendly and is willing to share his experience. Hope this helps.
  10. Hi Celeste, Welcome to Reno T-Blog! Your house really look so nice, can say its really to up the 4-star to 5-star hotel. So warm and classy. Are you using warm lights throughout the whole house? Cos all the photos are having a orange tint. By the way, mind telling us how much you spent on your renovation, your furniture and electrical appliances? Maybe can let us know where you got them too. :) Thanks for sharing your house photos, hope to hear more of you soon.
  11. Hi deathcoth, Our 4S resale flat (84sqm) is recently undergoing renovation, so here to share our experience with you. It took about 4 days to hack all the tiles and around 1 week to relay all the tiles back. Then again, it also depends on the manpower and the workers' dedication. Hope this helps.
  12. Hi jamez, Just Googled and found some websites that might be useful too, check it out: How to Remove Stains: Petroleum Jelly, Oil, Grass Stains How to Remove Crayon Stains From Tile Floors Removing Stains From Porcelain Tiles We will be waiting for your 'recipe' too. Now all lies with my wife, she is the one who is good with colours, she is a very trendy fashion shopper you know. Actually thinking having green shades in our study room (I requested for that ), purple shades in our guestroom. not sure for the masterbedroom and living room yet. And we are going to settle on the paint next weekend. Talk about making choices. Yeah, with all those things lying around, it definitely makes the space looks smaller, so really have to consider the postion of the furniture wisely too. Well, judging from my own experience, the cleaning will probably pause after the 1st week. Stupid idea but maybe you can consider putting some fans to blow away from the living room. WOW, Sunday also working, what exactly are you working as? So "Pai Mia" (bad life). Guess you're home by now, so have a good rest.
  13. Hi jamez, You're welcome. Yeah, heard alot of members searching for renovation stuff at IMM, so happy shopping. Is Ho Kee good? Not really sure, just happen to went there once while searching for Kitchen Basin and toilet accessories. They had advertised a few times during the Saturday newspapers. Quite a good range of selection, but in the end, we were recommended by our contractor to an old shophouse near Bugis Junction, since we are not really looking for designer stuff. We got 2 round mirrors, 1 set of 7 toilet accessories, 2 sets of glass shelves, towel bar, toilet roll dispenser and 1 stainless steel kitchen basin for 345. Maybe you can give it a try if you have time to source for better prices. Looking forward to see more of your house being done. All the best!
  14. Hi xpat88, !! Thought these links might help a little : 7th month., Hungry ghost festival 7 Month Reno Possible Move In In 7th Mth? Any Thing To Take Note 24 July 07 (tue) Ok To Dong Tu Moving In.. To Mr Chong: Does sleeping overnight in the new house means officially moved in? The issue we are having is that our house might not be ready before the 7th lunar month and heard that it is best to move in during the 7th lunar month. So we are thinking maybe we can sleep overnight before the start of 7th lunar month, which is 12th August 2007, Sunday so it means we are officially moved in. Is it correct to do so? Does putting a Mirror under the sun for a few hours and later use it to reflect the whole house area is able to remove most of the "YIN" qi within the house? Please advise. Thanks! !!
  15. Hi eR1c, Thanks for the correction Kinda blur blur when it comes to dates. So how's your "Spot the Defects" exercise? Hope that you did not find anything not nice. Email? The renovator too busy to receive phone calls? WOW, his business really BIG. !! So RP is RePurchase, thanks for the note. Yeah, hope everything is done before 10th August then we will have our own "Spot the Defects" exercise. !! Anyway had spotted a few oredi. Do tell us what to look out for ok? Need to knock tiles to see whether they are hollow? Hi jamez, Yes, Parquet is really classy and nice but also hard to maintain too, must be really careful, not for people like us, really clumsy and lazy:P So better stick with something that can last and easy to maintain. Thanks for the compliment, but kind of think of it, white is kinda hard to maintain in the kitchen, with the oil and smoke going around, think we are going to wipe the walls once a week. But the whole idea is to make the place look bright, cos too dark will make us feel even more drowsy and lazy But is thinking of painting the wall a darker colour to contrast the floor. Will leave all that to my wife for the colour coordination since I had my choice of floor tiles. !! So how's your renovation going on? With the kitchen entrance wall knocked down, your place looks really BIG now. But how are you going to prevent the Kitchen oil and smoke from coming into the living room? Just curious. Have a HAPPY Weekend! !!
  16. Hi everyone, !! We are back with the Sunday edition update. !! Most of the kitchen wall tiles are up and the concret top for the Kitchen Basin and Stove were moulded. Also found a little chipped wall tiles at the back of the Master Bedroom Bathroom drainage pipes. !! Concrete Base and Wall tiles at the Kitchen were almost completed and the Wall tiles at the Kitchen Bathroom was almost done too, except they had not removed the top section for the Mosaic Tiles yet. Floor Tiles for the Study Room were not there yet, hence the uncomplete floor. Two Concrete Tops for the Kitchen Basin and Stove were moulded there. The chipped Wall Tiles behind the Drainage Pipes in the MasterBedroom Bathroom. !! Good eyesight hah? !! That's all for now folks. Have a good weekend!
  17. Hi jamez, !! Really think that your toilet wall tiles are STUNNING! Good move on changing the concept. !! Yeah, really have to make an effort to go and monitor the progress, luckily our new house is just a 10 mins walk from our current place, so just treat it as an after-dinner stroll. !! So where you looking for the toilet bowl and sink? Have you went to Ho Kee at Tanjong Katong Complex? !! Really excited to see newly updated photos, all the best! !!
  18. 21st July 2007, Saturday Met three of the workers who were doing the Kitchen wall tiles, so asked them regarding the unfinished floor tiles works at the Study Room, the unfinished skirtings in all the bedrooms and living room, and got to know that they ran out of tiles and would be getting them this afternoon so they can complete the job. Informed them that the Kitchen Basin and bathroom accessories were delivered so they can start to construct the Concrete Stand Top. One of the workers working on the Kitchen Cabinet Base. The Kitchen Basin and Bathroom Accessories (Total cost 345). The almost completed Fridge and Kitchen Cabinet Base. One of the workers laying the Kitchen Wall Tiles. One of the workers working on the Master Bedroom Bathroom Wall Tiles. That's all for now folks!
  19. Hi everyone, We are back with another 3 days of renovation update photos. So far they had removed the curve corners of the entrance to the bedrooms and the kitchen, began to lay the cement for the Kitchen Cabinet Concrete Base and built up the Kitchen Concrete Stand for the Kitchen Basin and Stove. Today they also began to lay the wall tiles for the kitchen wall, but the bathroom mosaic tiles is not up yet, wonder what's holding them up? Our kitchen basin and bathroom accessories are also delivered today so they can construct the top of the concrete stand. So here are the photos: 19 Jul 2007, Thursday Another look at the Living Room Floor Tiles Curve corners were removed, but the wall are chipped at the Kitchen Entrance. !! Nothing changes at the Kitchen, except for the Kitchen Bathroom wall tiles are up, but the gap for the mosaic tiles are not all the way up, notified our Contractor about this. 20 July 2007, Friday Nothing changes in the Master Bedroom and the Bathroom. The Kitchen Entrance was still chipped. Sides of the Kitchen Concrete Stand were done up, the Fridge base and Kitchen Cabinet base was almost done up too. The New Rubbish Chute Cover installed.
  20. Hi jamez, You got a very STUNNING common toilet there. !! Think your visitors will be so mesmerised before they can do their business. Seems like your renovation is going very well, really excited to see your house when completed. Keep us updated ok?
  21. Hi bitchy_bride, Happy to hear that your LOVE NEST is completing soon, ours still in the halfway progress. Hope to see your completed renovated home photos soon. CONGRATS once again.
  22. Hi eR1c, Thanks for the note, now really must hurry the contractor so that we can move in before 13th August, Monday. Hope they can complete by 10th August, Thursday, like what is stated in the contract. Hi xiaomumu, We are going to place our dining table next to the storeroom area, the only place we are able to place it. What is RP? Yeah heard alot of care needed for parquet floor, and also very expensive to have one too. Maybe you can fetch a higher selling price for that. Our lights cost about 600 and the electrical appliances cost 2K. So plus plus our total renovation, including the lights and electrical appliances is about 26K. Your's not designer style? Your living room says it all So stylish And your kitchen is so modern looking too. Orange so vibrant. Anymore photos to share? Really hope to see more. By the way, what's AD? Once again, MORE PHOTOS from you yeah?
