  1. Hi eR1C and MaCe, Thanks for your information on your rewiring packages. Just wondering, when is your rewiring done? The reason given by my contractor for the high price (2.5K) is that the wiring material (e.g copper) had risen during these few months, but we are not sure if this is a fact or not? Can anyone provide any insight on this? By the way, anyone had lobang on Amasco Twister™ Model : AMC-48 ceiling fan? Thinking of installing one in the living room. The cheapest quote we got is $80. We went to the BH Lightings promotion a few months ago, the price was around $59, but does not include the regulator, remote, delivery and installation. Another thing is why is the price of stand fan so expensive? A typical stand fan cost ranges from $40 to even $100. Why is that so? Just manage to get 2 stand fan from COURTS selling at $19.90 EACH. Last month we tried to get a stand fan from GAIN CITY at $19 but was sold out. Hope to hear from you guys and gals soon. Thanks!
  2. Hi everyone, Here are the second day (09 July 2007 Monday) of hacking photos. More destruction was sighted in the Kitchen, Living room, Guestroom and part of MasterBedroom. The MasterBedroom bathroom was not hacked, the reason we reckon is that the workers need a place to pay their "water bills" if you know what we mean. 2 holes were also found at the each side of the kitchen walls, do not know whether they are defects or damages done by the workers. Anyone any clues? Kitchen Kitchen Bathroom More photos! Living Room Guestroom MasterBedroom Next comes the third and the final day of hacking!
  3. Hi everyone, We are back with the 1st day (06 July 2007 Friday) of hacking the tiles photos, so sit back and enjoy the destruction. Nothing much was done except for the 2 bathrooms, noted from our contractor that they are most difficult areas to hack the tiles. MasterBedroom Bathroom Kitchen Bathroom Next comes the second day of HACKING THE TILES.
  4. Hi eR1c ,Can you send us your painter name and contact? By the way, do you have any photos of the work done by the painters? If have, can you send us the link too? Thanks! So there's a package that actually states the number of sockets to be installed? We actually thought that the price consists of the existing power points and the shifting of the points is free of charge. So how many single and double sockets are included in your package? Maybe you can send us your electrician name and contact too? :)Is there anything else included within your package? Really hope you can provide us these information as we are really new at this.
  5. Hi applefreak ,Thanks for your very prompt response ! The electrician informed us that it is required for the HDB fire insurance, so maybe we can get more from the HDB. Is it compulsory to buy from HDB? Or is it just the cheapest in the market?By the way, may we know which company fire insurance you bought from? AIA? As for rewiring, we verbally told the contractor that we are going to add only a few extra power points, plus shifting the position of the existing points, they were OK with that now, but not sure if they are going to go back on their words later
  6. Hi LinDa ,Nice green wall you got there, can you give us the brand and the colour code for that? Thanks! P.S.:Thanks for visiting our Reno T-blog too.
  7. Hi everyone, Thanks for the prompt response again. Hi MaCe ,The MCB need to be lowered as the contractor says it requires PUB testing, so that it will be covered under the HDB fire insurance. Our house is near to 20 years old and the previous owner last did their renovation 12 years ago, so we did the whole house rewiring just to be on the safe side. By the way, anyone knows what are things should be included in a whole house rewiring? Hi applefreak ,So we guess we can ask to remove the item of painting of whole house from the renovation list if we are able to engage the ICI or Nippon paint company to do it. We have saw the advertisement for that on the newspaper but did not know what is the difference between the 2 packages? Anyone can provide any insight on that? Another thing is regarding a pest repellant liquid that can be added into the paint. We asked our contractor regarding this but he said that it would be another extra charges. Anyone can provide any insight on that too? Hi 1000 miles ,Can you provide us the name and contact no of your contractor? The reason given by the contractor for 2.5K is that the wiring material cost had gone up during this period, thus increasing the cost. We have previously posted a topic on this and seems like it is the current market rate. Here's the link to the topic:Rewiring By the way, do you have a T-blog or personal blog that we can view your house? That will be really cool. Once again, thanks for the prompt replies.
  8. Hi everyone , Thanks for the prompt reply for my question. We went for another look of our house with the contractor, carpenter and electrician. Get to know more things in details, maybe can gather everyone's reviews on them. 1. The painting of whole house (cost 1K) only includes sealer and white paint. Any other colour paints requires us to buy the paint ourselves and pay the workmanship, that is quoted around $200. 2. The electrician comments that the Main Circuit Board is required to lowered down due to HDB new regulation, hence it requires extra charges as it requires more wire for the extension. By the way the rewiring of the whole house costs 2.5K. Is it worth it? 3. The selection of tiles for the living room is limited to $3 psf and the tiles for the kitchen ceramic tiles is limited to $2 psf. Is that the market rate? Hope to get advices on these questions. Thanks in advance.
  9. Hi Weireno , We like to know how much did you spent on your electrical wiring? And how much work is involved e.g. Changing of Main Circuit Box, Installation of Extra power points, Testing? We got a quotation of 2.5K for the whole house rewiring, but the electrician informs us that the new HDB regulation requires the Main Circuit Box to be lowered down a certain height, and so there will be extra charges since it requires more wires. We wonder if you are recommended with the same thing. By the way, your house looks nice even before renovation.
  10. Hi everyone , We are back with more photos of the house before renovation (last minute effort the night before start of renovation ) so sit back, relax and enjoy these old memories MasterBedroom MasterBedroom Washroom GuestRoom Here's more , GuestRoom StudyRoom Kitchen That's all folks, we will be back with the 1st day of hacking footage soon. Thanks for viewing our blog. P.S: We had this problem of loading photos, it seems like there's a limit of photos to be post on each reply. Are we right? Or it have to do with the length of the reply? Pls advice. Thanks!

We will be updating our T-Blog with the photos.
  13. Hey Guys and Gals, Thank you all so much for the WARM Welcome, we will surely keep updating on the progress on the renovation. We just came back from the discussion with the contractor, must say he is really honest and friendly. So far no problem with the items listed in the contract, so the hacking of the tiles will begin this Friday, next Monday and Tuesday, hope the neighbours can bear with that.!! We will try to take more photos of the original state before the hacking starts, for old memories sake:p That's all for now

  15. Hi yenfong, You can visit this website where they have comparisons of almost all the house loans avaliable: AskDrMoney HomePage HDB House Loan Page Hope this helps.
  16. Hi ahnah, thanks for the reply. Just curious, what is the more practised form here in Singapore? Seems like the Flying Star is more applicable here in our region? Is that true? Found a topic in Bazi Consultation by Mr Chong discussing the same thing: Feng Shui (the Various Methods), which one to adopt? By the way, how do we determined the 8 directions? What degree each directions range from? Currently we are not sure we are facing the North or North East as it is 25 degrees. Please advise. Hope this helps.
  17. Hi Mr Chong, Our corner apartment neighbour has a ba gua and red cloth hanging on top of their main door. What is the purpose of this arrangement? I read from Feng Shui books that corner house has "arrows" or qi rushing towards them, thus this arrangement is used to disperse the qi. Is that correct? If so, what effect does it have on the neighbours? We are moving in to the apartment just to the side of corner apartment. What should we do if bad qi is redirected from the corner towards our apartment? Does Aloe Vera Plant, Cactus and Fu Dogs help? Please advise. Thanks in advance.
  18. Another question, does renovating a house makes it a period 8 house? We read in some Feng Shui books that if the Period 7 house undergoes a major renovation plus the main door is changed during the Period 8, then it will be considered as a Period 8 house. Is that true? Found a topic in Mr Chong Consultation also discussing this : Is My House Belong To Period 7 Or Period 8? Hope this helps.
  19. Hi, Just read from some Feng Shui books that from 2004 to 2023 is Period 8. So what is in store for us? And what do we need to avoid? Please advise. Thanks in advance. Note:For those who needs some basic knowledge on Period 8, here one website to read for more: Period 8
  20. Hi Unsure, We are Feng Shui novices, just to give our two cents worth. Based on the Feng Shui books borrowed from Library, it says that a person luck is determined by Life Gua, and different Life Gua have different four lucky and four unlucky directions. For example: Person with Life Gua 2 (aka Kun Gua) Lucky Directions will be SW, W, NW and NE and Unlucky Directions will be N, E, SE and S. Similarly, a house has its own Gua, based on its direction and the date it was built. Thus living in a house, you need to combine your Life Gua and the House Gua to get the right combination. Thus we think its not necessary just to only face North, but maybe just to prevent facing the unlucky directions. If you are interested in the book, the title is Stories and Lessons on Feng Shui. Anyone who is more familiar with this, please feel free to correct us. Thanks.
  21. Hi , we just borrowed a few books on Feng Shui from the Library and read that there are actually a few forms of Feng Shui. Here is to list a few : 1. Xuan Kong 2. Xuan Kong Fei Xing (Flying Stars School) 3. Ba Zhai 4. San Yuan Dragon Stars School 5. Qi Men Dun Jia Just curious, which is the more practised in Singapore? And why is that so? We also find that most of the books are written by 2 authors : Lilian Too and Joey Yap. But it seems like they are different in the way they use Feng Shui. Why is that so? Different form of Feng Shui?
  22. Hi yoongf, thanks for the reply, really gave us an insight regarding whether to do rewiring or not. Just some queries, if we are going to add new power points, it is also factor as "rewiring"? How much normally does adding three to five power points cost? Will additional power points causes more pressure on the MCB? If so, does it means there's a need to change it? So rewiring does not necessary means removing all the existing wires and replace them with new ones? How about the package I posted? Please advise. Once again, thanks for all the replies.
  23. Hi lifestyle, Thanks for the reply, the last owner did not do any rewiring, all are the original HDB wires. How much is SP testing? Does it takes a bulk of the whole cost? As for the lighting & power points, we only wanted to have an addition 3 to 5 more points. By the way I also found some other topics that sidetracked to my topic, here's the link if anyone is interested. Rewiring Highlighted01 Rewiring Highlighted 02
  24. Hi ekardo, how much you spent per fan and where you get it? Just want to have some basis for comparison. We are eyeing on the low ceiling type and manage to find the KDK model A11YS. So now we have 2 choices
  25. Hi yukidog, So its cheaper to purchase the ceiling fan from the manufacturer's main office? Currently quoted $80 for the Amasco Twister, did not know whether is the best pricing. We went to BH-Lighting for the promotion price of $59 on that model last Sunday, only to find out that it comes without the regulator, remote control, transport and installation. BTW, saw alot of members also recommend KDK, it is really that good? Thanks in advance.
