  1. Hi Sharon, I've PM-ed you Contractor J's contact and quote - I believe his 3D drawing is outsourced as I requested him for it however I feel that its not necessary since what he promised turned out to be exactly the same as what I thought. Its really up to individual preference! As for TB, I didn't ship direct from seller so I have no clue how much is domestic shipping. Domestic shipping is charged to my agent and he charges me directly accordingly. I hope this helps!
  2. 3D drawings send by Contractor J, 85% accurate as furnitures are not the same and there are tweaks to the final design... Kompacplus top for the kitchen and wall splash, same for the other side too. How do you like it?
  3. Hi Jassss This watt is sufficient for rooms and kitchen, there's no need o get a bigger watt unless you are staying in a huge executive apartment. I believe its sufficient for 3/4/5-room BTOs
  4. Thanks for your thoughts! Yes, those black strips on my ceiling are my tracks - my track lights are not fixed yet as we wanted renovation to be completed before we fix up the tracklights (its very dusty during reno thus if we put up the tracklights we need to take each of them out and clean them one by one when its completed so we decided to only put up the tracklights upon completion) Yap Corona Maple! Thanks for your kind words! Brings comfort to me that my hubby's choice wasn't that bad afterall hahaha!!
  5. Today's update: Contractor J is away on a short trip so he sent his in charge and 5 workers (all doing carpentry) - 2 workers for putting up my kitchen cabinets and 2 workers for my shoe cabinets and 1 worker helping around. All of them reached at 9am and finished setting up my entire shoe cabinet and whole kitchen by 6pm. They were very prompt and nice. All his workers kept checking with us to find out if we had any preference in placing certain stuff like the sink and hob etc There was also a 64 year old uncle whom worked as a carpenter for 60 years (he started working at 14 years old!!). Cause he was climbing up and down fixing my cabinet so I was worried since he looked quite old and wanted to help him but he refused. I then started chatting with him - found out he was the one who constructed all my cabinets at the factory - very experienced old man and I give it to him Before my shoe cabinet was up, I was really worried about the laminate husband chose. I wanted something lighter like oak but he shifted a little towards industrial style. In the end I compromised with him and picked the laminate he wanted. The shoe cabinet cum storage was a huge item in the living so it was worrying since I didn't have any 3D to refer to. Talking about 3D, Contractor J was supposed to give them to me before the reno started but because I rushed him to do the carpentry first, the person drawing my 3D could only finish tomorrow. I mentioned that I didnt need anymore 3D since 90% of the carpentry were done but he said he'll give them to me anyway. Here's my shoe cabinet cum storage before the doors were up (beside my craftbrick) and here's after the doors were up BUT after the doors were up, we realised that guy whom we were aliasing for the 'design' of the shoe cabinet FORGOT to add in the black frames around the borders when he passed the design to the carpenter!! Poor old carpenter had to dismantle the doors and bring them back to the factory to redo the black frames and design Oh wells, got to wait for another time for them to 'complete' my shoe cabinet. Will update photos of my kitchen another time as we were rushing off for dinner and didn't take photos! Feedback on my 'uncompleted' shoe cabinet please!! I preferred oak but this was a more 'rustic' wood colour hubby picked, what do you think?
  6. Hello, I purchased this exact watt for my rooms + kitchen. Highly suggest everyone to purchase at least this watt because I find that it is just nice to brighten up the space. Anything smaller might be too dim. By the way, I've cleared my inbox so you guys can PM me for any questions, thanks! 65*43LED48W调色遥控 Here's the link: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=19971695342
  7. Hi Bianzi, Thanks for sharing! Great to hear from you! Also, I love your kitchen and delighted for you!
  8. Thanks for sharing this!! I was just thinking how to conceal my TV on the brickwall and this totally explained how it should be done! Anyway can I ask you, does your grouting between your craftbricks have any cracks? My brickwall is exactly like yours however upon very very close inspection, there are cracks on 35% of the white grouting - not sure if this is normal or should I ask the tiler to redo this. Also did your ID tell you he put a layer of protection on your bricks? Not sure if this is necessary too. Hope to hear from you, thanks!!
  9. Hello, I'm not very good with the technical details, my hubby is so I can't really explain how it is done but I'm sure it can be done since there are so many people doing feature wall. By the way, half of my brick wall is a box up to align the brick wall with my sofa so the electrician was supposed to run the concealed wiring in the box up. Bricks from Taobao is extremely cheap but domestic shipping is the hidden cost and its quite expensive IMO. Hi please PM me for those who are keen in Contractor J's contact. Since I'm half way with my reno and all is well, I'll be happy to share. Do let me know if my inbox is full, thanks! For Taobao, I bought TOO MANY - I've got another few cubic metres more shipped to me on my second batch, think I better take a photo when its completed and you guys can check with me from there. Anyway I opened up my TV console yesterday to peek and IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL - its a solid wood oak scandi TV console and finishing was great. Will put it up when my reno is completed!
  10. Today's update: We realised that one of contractor J's in charge forgot to conceal our TV wiring in the brickwall box up!! He was so busy that day coordinating the installation of the cabinets and kitchen/toilet kerbs that he didn't stop the tiler doing the craftbricks and he overlayed the entire wall instead. Anyway I already anticipated some screw up but this is quite upsetting for me cause I wanted my brickwall to be perfect with the TV mounted on it. Now there are several options which hubby is discussing with them but either way its no longer the same. Well, screw ups are typical in renovation as long as its not too major. Like for e.g. I bought some stuff which the size didn't fit etc etc but I learn from them and understand that some measurements during reno is not just so straightforward. Apart from this, so far Contractor J has been very accommodating and doing up everything according to schedule + the walk in wardrobe he has done up is beyond amazing - no major screw up until this brickwall (and its not his fault, his worker) so yap, I can't complain, can I. Kitchen cabinet will be up next week! Till then ... Craftbricks purchased from Taobao, SUPER DUPER LOVIN' IT!
  11. Today's update: Contractor J's workers came to fix up my walk in wardrobe and I was really pleased. The layout we decided ultimately to fit what hubby and I need was perfect. I was even happier with the space right on top to place my handbags as the height was great for my bags with handles. Anyway we chose American Walnut laminate for the internal laminate of the wardrobe - if some of you didn't know, the typical wardrobes are all white laminate and coloured internal laminate costs way more however Contractor J understood my budget restraint and gave me a discount for the coloured internal laminate Also, I came back to check on the house in the evening when it was completed and was speaking to another uncle working for Contractor J. He was there to pick up the workers and send them home - then while I was speaking to him, I realised that all the workers working for contractor J are either Singaporeans or PRs. The driver told me that it was very important because bigger ID firms what they do is they go to the checkpoint everyday to pick up all the Msian workers and send them to the job site since labour is so cheap. When the workers don't want to work they can just not turn up and they are not obligated to possess good workmanship. The reason why he told me this is because I told him actually I was contemplating between an ID and contractor - and he said lucky I take contractor J cause he is a very responsible contractor. Even after 6 months if anything wrong he will come and fix. He told me other IDs once they handover they will entertain you for some months and after that if any problem crop up with the house, they won't bother entertaining you at all. Contractor J also gave me soft closure in my walk in wardrobe for all the drawers - super pleased! He told me over the phone he had also gotten an electrician to run lights in my wardrobe so at night I don't need to switch on the light and just need to slide the aluminium black frame he's fixing for me and the whole wardrobe will automatically light up, love love the idea! Today tiler also finished my craftbrick wall but haven't put a protective layer - once he's done so I will post up the craftbricks I purchased from TB, IT LOOKS AMAZING Can't wait for the entire house to be done especially my kitchen and living hall! How's my progress so far?
  12. Hi there, I haven't gotten my painting done yet. My sister has also engaged him, will review and share if he is good when he's done, thanks!
  13. And a new addition for the bathroom - Grohe Icon Rainshower The halo-shaped spray face reduces the aesthetic volume and delivers a large full spray thanks to the perfectly aligned shower nozzles and GROHE DreamSpray® technology - will do a review on this after I move in!
  14. Weekend update: Today tiler came in to do the kitchen base + 2 toilet kerbs. Was there as well to do up my craftbrick wall. Saw contractor J sending in my walk-in-wardrobe and he mentioned they will be installed by next week. Hubby loved the drawers for then entire wardrobe as they were all soft closure and the finishing was great - now I'm certain my carpentry is in good hands! After I saw the process of them preparing the wall to be overlayed with craftbrick, I could totally understand why the brickwall quoted by all the IDs/contractors was so pricey - it was a lot of work for a single wall. Anyway, Contractor J came in to do the frame for my craftbrick wall before the tilers started to prepare the wall for craftbrick. Was very impressed with Contractor J's in house spray painter - after the raw wooden frame was mounted onto my feature wall, the spray painter started 'sanding' the frame, and spraying my frame with a huge air-brush machine with a few layers of base coat before going it over with his black spray with several coats. The effect of the frame was so so smooth and perfect. Can't wait for the craftbricks to be up by next week!
  15. Here's the link for my kitchen and room lights with LED + remote control -please buy the 48watts one. Anything lesser than this is not bright enough for a typical bedroom http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=19971695342
