Need Help In Home Entertainment System (sound Bar)
vicenzo70 replied to SLYW's topic in Electronics & Electricals
We're talking about car or home audio system now? No comment on Tag's system. I recommend in love at 1st hear. But I do have comments on Bose though. For the amount one would pay(for Bose), its a lot cheaper to get something else which will sound much much better. EG Anthony Gallo's Micro Ti series. Its more chio than Bose, sounds much better & it cost 20% cheaper. Anyway, this is my personal opinion & based on my hearing. I never liked Bose as they're using Jurassic technology & you pay much more & certainly dont sound as sweet or warm to some of my HTS which Ive owned. Cheers Vince -
Amp alone about S$1K. Cables & speakers budget should be about $300-500. Then we're talking. If budget constrained, get a 2nd hand amp. I believe 60% is the current face value price of decent 2nd hand amps. Cheers Vince

Get an amplifier with multiple output when u can assign where the audio goes to. I can think of the Yamaha 863. cheers vince

Yep I agree. Winnie is undoubtedly one of Univonna's best sales person. We were so pleased with her service, we bought a complete sofa set & a dining table/chairs from them. Delivery was without hassle except a small hiccup on our dining table as there was shipment delay. Nevertheless, Univonna loan us a dining table set for the time being. Sofa quality is good & comfortable (we bought a leather sofa). Dining table also no complains. Maybe we'll go back to Univonna to get a coffee table. Didnt saw any designs that we liked the last time we went down. Vince

Agreed. Good deal but old model. If one is not too concerned about Full HD or HD ready, then might as well stick to those slim CRTs or get the older Samsung series. It cost even cheaper. Cheers Vince

Need Help In Home Entertainment System (sound Bar)
vicenzo70 replied to SLYW's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Hi all Sorry to pour cold water but i have posted many times about soundbars deficiencies esp for audio. But of coz its just my opinions & based on my hearing judgement. To answer your questions - Less wire - GOOD Good sound - I DOUBT IT Nice looking - IS EVERYONE BUYING A SOUND SYSTEM FOR LOOKS OR FOR QUALITY SOUND? Samsung & Phillips are not "craftsmen" known to produce audio equipments. Their audio equipments are merely mass market production. Its not exactly very cheap either. So before u plonk your hard earned money into inferior equipments, do consider the Yamaha soundbars (though i would strongly advise against as it has no room for future upgrades) Again, just my opinion. Cheers Vince -
Hi If this LCD has any problems, is the spare parts & servicing easily available? Anyway, it only has ONE HDMI input, only 720p & its only HD ready. May i ask why are u looking for this brand? Cheers Vince

BTW, a friend of mine bought the Series 6 40" LCD & he opted for the HTS instead of the Bluray player. I can only say the HTS sux big time coz i helped him with the cabling. The subwoofer is so light that i can pick it up using only 1 hand without breaking a sweat. The sound from the speakers are muffled & dont do justice to the superb LCD panel. And the DVD player's so-called upscaling function to 1080p is just a gimmick. Pix quality is still grainy. The cables are thin & I highly doubt its made from good quality. Ive advised my friend to spend a bit more to get a proper set up BUT wife factor says the Samsung HTS looks chio leh. We buy HTS to appreciate the sound & compliment the TV NOT the look of the HTS!!!!!!! Vince

Better in terms of what? Pix quality? Durability? easy connection? Price? Personally, i'll swop for a Samsung anytime as I know their LCD panels is manufactured in Korea. Sony's panel is OEM. I think with a china production house. Cheers Vince

Park Central @amk

Atcually, for those who's considering buying, what would the upside be, say, in 10 years? Anyone dare to think HDB price will hit $700-800K? Even if it does, who can afford to buy over from you? But the downside is consistent. Property market has not cooled enough & inflation is on an all time high. Would you rather spend your additional money on food/getting a car or paying off HDB loans? But if you want a roof over your head & dont mind paying $500K for the "view" & "location", then by all means, do your sums right before making the purchase. Im also staying in AMK & though mine is not centrally located, the prices are still feverish. Come 2011, no one can predict where the property price will head. The high prices one is paying is due to the high material costs. Land value remains consistent unless SLA do a revision on the land value. Then again, the apprecaition will not be so high. One thing for sure, whichever company that won the contract to do all the reno work must be laughing themselves to the bank. Vince -
Amk Resale Advise Needed
vicenzo70 replied to koopus's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
Hi 25K cash is about 5% of valuation. Its a good buy. Blk350 is near swimming pool. One of the most sough-after areas in AMK. Cheers Vince -
You HEARD only? Atcually, by all accounts, Samsung's panels are one of the top range. In fact, theyre the only ones producing their own LCD panels. Toshiba & Sharp uses OEMs. Im not working for Samsung but its my job to sniff out the ebst audio/video equipment. Cheers Vince

Zenixth Hi you prefer music or movies? There's plenty of speakers system for your listening pleasure at a given budget & cater to your main interest. On top of my mind now, I can think of Tannoy, Anthony Gallo (very exp), B&W, KEF etc. I suggest you visit hi-fi shops @ Adelphi. Plenty of choices. Take your time. Cheers Vince

Hi, Amp is good. 4 X HDMI output. Pro & Con below - Highs: Supports latest high-def audio formats; plenty of power; generous inputs; good value Lows: 1080i upscaling could be better; remote lacks a backlight As for the speakers, try something else. Demo the sound first. There's better speakers around to go with this superb amp. Cheers Vince

Im a regular BKK visitor & just came back last week. Sum Luan Night Bazaar is still open. Packed as ever. Though the decor stuffs are very nice, the price is not so nice. Very touristy area. MRT stops at Lumpini. Jatuchat. Shoppers paradise. I would advise one to start as early as 10am before the crowd gathers. Avoid going on sundays!!!! Its a sweaty body-to-body nightmare!!! Things are cheap & will be even cheaper if you know how to bargain. Me & wife bought some Thai bolsters, a teakwood Buddha face deco, some lights & some stuff. Very cheap!!!! For chabors - shopping for cheap clothings, visit Platinum Mall. Aircon environment. Cheap if u buy a lot. Diagonally opposite of Platinum is Pratunam centre. Another Jatuchat, hot & stuffy. Guys can forget about this 2 places as its mostly gals clothes, accessories, shoes, bras & lingeries. Instead, guys should head to MBK. One word, quite good lah......the top floor is the electronics heaven. HP, DVD, laptops, ripoffs etc etc Makan - plenty. For the adventurous, go for the roadside stall. One word - we had 2nd helping. Phadthai, meatball noodles, grilled meat, river prawns & chicken, banana prata, u name it, we ate it. What stomach upset? If its good for the locals, its good for us too. Or visit Chinatown for their seafood. Not so cheap but its fresh. No particular restaurant i can recommend. Massage - cheap, clean & satisfying. Head & shoulder massage is only 180baht per hour. Fell asleep on the bed. Word of caution - DONT TAKE TUK-TUK. Con men, all of them!!!!!!! Cheers Vince

Sorry, i dont have any comments on this model. Not really into HTiB but that's just me. The trick is, if your ears like what youre hearing, then its probably good!!!!!! Only letdown for this system is there's no HDMI output. Anyway, how much is this system & where did you see it? Cheers Vince

Castilla/Casa Italy/Courts "Italian" leather uses italian cowhide. Assembly line could be in South east Asia. Casa Italy has a "manufacturing" workshop in Sungei Kadut hor. Unless we're talking about top of the range sofas. Prices starts from $5K & above. Cheers Vince

You gotta be kidding right? Cheers Vince

Yap, KEC is highly recommended. Theyre much obliged to help you cater a HTS according to your given budget. NiV, may I know what system you got from KEC? Cheers Vince

Their sofa is made in Malaysia. They have a factory in JB. Think its in Skudai. As mention by Winnie (sales lady). Their dining table etc etc are made in China. Cheers Vince

Hi Which model is your Onkyo HT system? In my personal experience, Onkyo is definitely much much better than the likes of Sonys or Samsungs. Another good HTiB one can consider is Denon. Cheers Vince
