  1. Hello all, I am looking to do a small kitchen renovation project and I wanted to know which shops can I go to educate myself on the types of materials available (quartz vs granite vs marble etc) in the singapore market and their prices. I have read quite a bit online but I would like to see the physical looks of these materials and varioud popular designs as well as their prices. Any honest shops I can visit ? Thanks in advance S
  2. Can you PM the contractor details please ?

I understand there are a number of types available but if I am looking for something simple (aka value for money), what type of awning should I go for ? Also, please share/PM any relevant contacts for this purpose. Many thanks in advance! S

  10. All, I have reno strating in 2 weeks time and on my recent work trip to India, I managed to pick up 2 Ceiling Fans, which I found to be very nice looking and appropriate size for my living and dining areas. The voltage range is the same as Singapore and the fans can be seen at the link below: http://www.amazon.in/Luminous-Platina-1200mm-78-Watt-Ceiling/dp/B00O2QYXCO/ref=sr_1_83?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1440228962&sr=1-83&keywords=ceiling+fan The Fans do not come with a remote but I wish to have speed control functionality. - What are my options here ? Would connecting them to normal dimmer switch be enough or do I need a regulator ? - Would dimmer switch cause any noise ? - If regulator, can I buy a suitable regulator locally ? If yes, kindly recommend some please. - Wiring wise, I am converting an existing lighting point to a celing fan point. So if using a regulator, does it require any additional wiring because of the regulator ? One ID has told me that but I don't quite trust that guy in general. Many thanks in advance. Regards, S
  11. Hi, could you PM me a brief description of how you structured this please (order of running the cable, type of cable, type of plug etc.). Looking to do the same.
  12. Did you plan the network cabling yourself ? Are you getting the cables hidden in your walls or running them through a surface casing ? Also, please share the link for the LED lights. Thanks.

  16. Hey, great blog so far.. if no L-boxes/false ceilings, what sorta lighting arrangement are you planning for ? I am currently in the same dilemma but leabing towards simple L-boxes for the lack of better (read: neater) ways to light up the house while still having ceiling fans. All the best, S
  17. Hello fellow forum members, We have recently bought a resale unit of a condo and would bet getting our keys in a months time. We have been to the unit many times (obviously) and the current owner has been kind enough to let us in many times during this completion phase too. We are looking to start the reno work as soon as we get the keys and given the unit if in very decent condition, we are not looking to do a full fledged reno. It think what we want to be done is a little bit of carpentry, little bit of electrical and a little bit of flooring touch up. Here are the things which we are definitely getting done: 1. Polishing marble flooring in Living Room 2. Sanding and polishing old parquet in Bedrooms 3. Painting the whole apartment 4. L Box in Living Room and one of the bedrooms 5. Cupboards touch up 6. One small cupboard to be constructed below the staircase Wondering if its better to go with an ID or a contractor who has sub-contractors under his banner. Kindly share if you have any useful contacts for us please. I'll keep this blog updated on as things move along in the next few months. Cheers, S
