  1. Like that ah your ID's professionalism towards his projects is not worth mentioning. Its better you guys should go out and sue the ID firm for the incompleted work done. As long as you have that contract & proof of incompleted work, you have a case in claiming recompensation le. Hold on to the last payment until everything is cleared. Be sure to have pics of the incomplete work in case it could come in handy. I don't like this kind of irresponsible IDs though.
  2. HIL85, I understand your concerns since its your home and you be living it for a long time. Other homes are done according to individual preference & the level of competency of the ID in qn. So not everything can be the same although it is common to adopt certain reno ideas into one's reno. Also my suggestion to have the cut out area excluding the magnetic catch below the tv console is one simple way to leave the sockets exposed. (It is indeed troublesome opening & closing the catch all the time & will spoil this way) Another alternative is to hide the sockets inside the tv console drawers where you might want to place your electronic stuff. It would be neat to keep the wires hidden also just like the way hotels having sockets inside their carpentry, like for eg; the socket to plug in the electric jug to boil water or for charging hp.
  3. IMHO, Prodigic;s feature wall is like a 3D cube so the socket wouldn't look good blending in with 3 D cubes since will stick out even more. But yours is considered neutral, so maybe you can try asking them to shift the 'cut out' area minus the magnetic catch below the tv console? Otherwise, your electronic items will cover that up nicely. Btw, your place looks good too. Not all reno are perfect without hitches and glitches so dun worry too much, see what can be salvaged first so talk it over with your ID.
  4. Your glass backing is not bad leh, jeddie. If you still find it doesn't match though, you can always ask your ID to frost the glass backing. Frosted look also goes well with rustic look. The lighting under the top cabinet, will be a little bright as its T5, considering the atmosphere of the kitchen in the dark though. Jeddie, what kind of light you have for your kitchen lights also? The mbr bedframe looks very nice. You can get a high mattress though so that you have maximum comfort even in a low bedframe. More pix pix pix
  5. So bad of your ID to go missing like that. Did you give him the last payment? Im sure that there's a contract in black and white which you can use to sue the ID firm for this. You might be paying more just to finish the rest of the work in the end le? Anyway dun worry about the storage heater, im sure you be able to sell it and most importantly if you ever get your ID hor, just wack him upside down for being irresponsible & claim recompensation too.
  6. Ya it is a healthy hobby though. Why don't you get an oven first so that whatever you've learnt, you can put your new recipes to practice? My job hunting is a zero at the moment, still pending the reply on the results of the interview last thurs though. Got my pm?
  7. Phoon Huat is not only the store that sells everything for baking stuff. There's Sun Lik Trading, Gim Hin Lee as well. But yes some stuff sold at Phoon Huat is cheap while others are not so cheap. It just depends on what you're getting. Hehehe been collecting recipes for practice on my own actually that why I've been looking through alot of baking stuff.
  8. Yup no wordings, only odd numbers like 0,1,3,5,7,9,11 at hexagonal points just like an analog timer around the dial switch. The numbers is a reference to low heat, med heat, high heat range that all. It doesn't take long to heat up. That is the halogen element as mentioned before, it will turn red when it gets very hot after being turned on, back to normal when its turned off. Im not sure about areogaz as didn't see any other brands besides, ariston, indesit, brandt, teka.
  9. For the 2 hob vitroceramic, there is no words inscribed other than the ariston logo. Ya the dial switches are sideways, looks like a timer though but dun look ugly at least to me This is how my hob looks like horizontally.
  10. I laid mine horizontally since looks nicer that way cos my kitchen counter top is like 13ft and it would look out of place having it vertically. Vertically wise, it looks better for small pantry kitchen size with limited counter top space. Ke|tong also have the same 2 hob done vertically can see his blog. Actually I dun have a hood as I never do top cabinets. Only installed grundtal shelves in place of the top cabinets as my hubby and I were going for a simple version of those industrial kitchens.
  11. Have le, you know those recipe pasted at the bottom will have picture of cake right? you got to remove that picture carefully cos the recipe is printed at the back if I remember right. I bought one of those 8" one and I think it was a pineapple cake pict pasted on the bottom that time. There was a recipe at the back of the pic. But I can't find the pic now. Dunno where it disappear to. Must have been lost somewhere else in my storage.
  12. Aves, I got that 2 hob vitroceramic which you posted before for 439 from Plaza Sing's Mayer. Mayer has monthly sales actually, you can check with mayer when is the monthly sales. Or otherwise can ask if got discount? Maintenence wise, we were told by the mayer people that we cannot use detergent to clean the hob as it will spoil the hob. What we can do is to use a damp cloth to wipe the hob followed by a dry cloth after using the hob. (The hob will still be hot after turning off, so you can wait a while for it to cool before cleaning)
  13. I dunno about Jurong's Phoon Huat having demo class for 10 bucks but business there is quite good. Went there a few times already and I still see activity going on there. Btw, their baking tins on sale have recipes pasted at the bottom you know? But to get the recipe, have to buy the baking tins. I think their recipes are abit common like chocolate sponge cake, pineapple cake..
  14. Who the living dictionary? *blinks* No prob about that babytan, I also suaku first time back then dunno have vitroceramic and induction hob way before we got our place. In fact I thought that the hobs outside are all gas burner one. There's always a first time for everything. It depends on aves's budget. Does he have the budget to blow on induction hob if he wants to get one? The point is both vitroceramic, induction hob are all flat surface types, uses electrical energy to cook. Just the difference between them is what I already mentioned earlier on. But I would suggest that if he is on a tight budget, he might want to consider the cheaper alternative since he could use alot of $$ balance for other things that takes top piority in reno. Expo exhibition are um slasher types given the competition amongst themselves in this kinda industry, give freebies and discounts but what really matters is that the company in qn is reliable first, work attitude is good all that.
  15. Lynnnie, no prob. Take your time in finding your microwave oven.
  16. Babytan, Vitroceramic is the surface material that is fit on top of the hob or known as a glass-ceramic composite with halogen element (Halogen is red glow coil shape below the surface material when you turn on the stove but this won't be seen in Induction hob I believe). Vitroceramic is used to withstand the temperature shock up to 700degree for certain model. Mostly is use in those latest Hi-End Induction Hob & others type of Hob too. Induction hob uses magnetic fields (only heat is conducted through metal) to cook which is safer & environmental friendly as it wont emit excessive energy which is lost to heat the whole utensil & heat up the whole kitchen. (can touch the utensil with boiling water without hurting your fingers like halogen & gas hob will). This is the main advantage for Induction and disadvantage for vitroceramic cos vitroceramic can burn your fingers easily if you are not careful while cooking. But where costs is concerned, vitroceramic wins hands up for us as it is cheaper even with digital type. Induction hob is way ex even for a digital or analog sad to say. HDB has electrical voltage requirement for electrical appliances, that you can't turn on all 4 hobs at the same time for induction and vitroceramic hobs. My hubby asked before with mayer & brandt people last time before we bought the 2 hob vitroceramic hob with mayer. You can only turn on 2 hobs at the same time though. Anyway, both types also use electrical energy to cook so not much of an issue too. Hope this helps.
  17. Hehe ya shih tzus are usually brown or light brown, havent come across one in black and white somemore. And my baby ger's colour is kinda unusual as the mother is a golden cockeral spaniel while the father is a brown and white shih tzu. Yup there's a risk we've to take being dog lovers but hopefully not so much problems for us in handling their biz in the house ba. Take your time to shortlist your ID. Sometimes what looks impressive to you might not entirely work out for you guys since there's budget and other factors. Just choose whom you're comfortable to work with and who is able to conceptualise something that is in line with yours.
  18. Ah did they ask you if you wanted refund back to your card or in voucher? I never took the refund in voucher, only got the refund back to my credit card which means that the actual billing for the credit card charges minus that refund part.
  19. Ya still a temp hsewife at home. Went for an interview on thurs. Have to wait for their reply. I didn't see the ch 8 or U show on baking classes but there are workshops available other than Phoon Huat which you can actually do a web search. Phoon Huat has an outlet at Jurong East also. There is also B-I-Y at bukit timah which offers baking courses by wilton. 1 baking course is 4 lessons with duration of 2 hours each. Cost is 270-280 with GST i think. Greycat took up some lessons with shermay cooking school for basic cupcake lessons. Ranval and I went to greycat for the cupcake activity last month le. Workshops are cheaper since they're not held in a training school but at the teacher's place with a minimum no of people & the fees per person is around 80. Somemore its just for a few hours only (A min of 2-4 hours) and its one time only to learn just what you want to learn, the simple steps) But if you want courses like novice, advanced, expert level, its better to go to a school that offers professional courses with certification that is.
  20. It depends on what functions you require in a microwave oven & your budget of course. Microwave oven sometimes comes with convectional functions which is used for baking, grilling. You can look at the description for the oven and ask the salesperson plenty of qns to be more informed if you are in doubt
  21. I dunno much about the washing machine as me and my hubby feel that washing machine will spoil very fast. So we got a normal one, an LG 6.5kg, courtesy of my PILs
  22. Ahhh your babies are so cute, the one on the right is so sweet smiling for the cam even with eyes closed.
  23. The clocks there very nice, can also give a run for the value for some of the nicer clocks. Molecule is way out of my budget. some clocks can go up to 100+ to 200+ for some really sophisticated design.
  24. I think I know which one Yang Guo is talking about. Its that trolley cart with alot of clocks & some clocks are selling for 50+ indicated on their sale tag, located on the right side nearer to the escalator outside carrefour. Is that correct?
  25. Just drop a few drops of medicated oil and wipe it on the floor. It would have to be strong enough for the smell to linger on the floor. Just apply it at possible pee spots your dog aims for as dogs have a familiar routine with the very same pee spots cos its marked already. Try testing the medicated oil on your dogs first, let them sniff and see if they got any reaction to it. If they got any reaction to it like my hubby dog, summer everytime avoid sniffing the medicated oil bottle put out to him cos he will sneeze and he totally turned off by it. Wah your doggies sure very pampered no wonder not scared of your beatings lei.
