  1. Let me try to answer your questions part by part. I susposed your plan is Osaka - Kyoto - Hakone - Tokyo Osaka to Kyoto : local train 30mins the most. about 500yen kyoto to Hakone (via Odawara) : Shinkansen bullet train 12000yen 3hrs 30mins Hakone to Tokyo : Shinkansen 5000 yen 2hours or Kyoto to Tokyo : Shinkansen bullet train 2hours 13000yen, u can try 8hrs night bus maybe 4000yen and saved one night accomodation in kyoto Tokyo to Hakone : hakone pass by odakyu company about 5000yen or Tokyo to Lake Kawaguchiko : local train 3hrs 4000yen now u know the transport cost. do think about the budget and let me know your plan before i can advise further
  2. but even if i dun overlay and choose to lay new tiles, i still have to hack all away...cos mine is a 20 years flat and it believe it may pop in next 5 years to come. my MIL kitchen pop last year...about 22 years plus...OMG.....
  3. i am back from the above places i mentioned. Went in Apr. willing to share my info (but u must do some homework yourself).
  4. total budget 2k for 2 pax still wan to buy normal clothes??? if this 2k incl shopping, meals and daily transportation and accomodation. means the budget left for airtickets would be less than 1k for 2 tickets. that only can consider flight time around 3 or 4 hours. choices would be bali, phuket+krabi, bangkok, ching mai, HCM, hanoi, shanghai, hongkong,
  5. can try stayed at hakone youth guest house..got indoor and outdoor onsen but cant see mt fuji while in onsen. can go sightseeing using bus, big pirate ship and tram and see mt fuji on the way. or try Lake Kawaguchiko, Kawaguchiko Station Inn. can see mt fuji while in the indoor onsen. there is no outdoor. but as the inn is not on high ground, can see the wire pole with wires. all have no toilet in the room. so far, the cheapest i can find lah.
  6. ya i also facing this prob..my 20 years old house..the tiles abit not even liao...i tot of hacking away...then cement screed...then lay laminates....peace of my mind for the next 20 years...
  7. my flat is 20 years old..so i am concern about tiles popping. i dun even know if this is jus my paranoid or real concern... Your suggestion is to have bottom wall tiles for water proofing. i susposed this is for the stove and basin area which i agree it makes sense. this would mean laying NEW wall tiles for the bottom cabinet area. will consult my contractor. thanks
  8. thanks for the advice.... to lay new wall tiles or replaster, i will go ahead of hacking the old wall tiles (20 years old HDB abt 4 x 10cm) as i am also concern tiles may pop out in another 20 years to come. i will ask the contractor to quote me price for new wall tiles as compare to replaster and paint. as for the stove and cabinet side of the kitchen...since it will be once again covered in cabinet. Will jus replaster the area covered by cabinet plus lay either backsplash or new tiles on the exposed area at the stove area. like tat, no concern on tiles popping...and damaging new cabinets....peace of my mind. although i have yet to hear any stories in tiles popping...beside new punggol HDB flats. i am someone whom like the replaint the house every 5 years...staying in my flat for 8 years...i already repainted once last year (7th year). Yes, i am getting the Best view window so that i can fully utilise all the hanging holes. now can only use 4...cos the basin support at the window prevent me from reaching the other 3. any good advice is deeply appreciated.
  9. my living room light is dangling kind..so not able to instal ceiling fan. i like nice dangling lights in dining room too....so also not able to have ceiling fan. either way..i dun like ceiling fan..
  10. anyone heard or done laminate flooring by this company, middle curtain & carpet...i found it in sgbride..seems cheapest and not made in china...
  11. i am also facing with the prob of concrete support for my basin. Currently embarking on a kitchen makeover and changing location of the sink, so the existing almost 20years old concrete support for sink will have to be hacked. to make a new one, i going thru my cooking and preparation habit. i always cut tomatoe or veg on my concrete sink support, i even cut cooked salted egg. it is made of tiles (floor tiles). it does not stain (regardless of red from tomatoe or yellow from egg yolk) and i can safely spray water over to clean it with soap too. for nicer look, i observe my frens and siblings all used solid top with carpentry cabinet below. look nice neh... sigh...thinking how to make a nice looking concrete support..
  12. come to think about it, actually i dun need to hack the wall tiles..jus plaster over to smooth and paint over? cos of the hacking of storeroom and floor tiles,.. by not hacking the wall tiles may not result in great saving as contractor would have charge a fixed hacking price regardless what is hack...i suspose..correct me if i am wrong.. will consult the contractor for detailed pricing hacking and whether charges are itemised or in general hacking cost is a lump sum regardless surface area..

    Taps

use toothpaste....not a prank...i do that...really shiny.. i got prob with the 3M tingy..not sure if i use it correctly. I spray on my SS stuff..left it for a while, the use a gentle dry clean cloth to polish it until the foaming tingy is gone....but not shiny leh..abit blur blur...due to the oily surface.. anyone can enlighten?
  14. how often to clean the ceiling fan..two side of the blades..? i clean standing fan average once in 1.5 months... to clear away the coffee table, drag the ladder...clean and make sure dun fall off the ladder.....then keep the ladder and push back the coffee table...OMG...hehe.. standing fan is obiang indeed...but at least portable..need not 'affect' everyone, can jus focus on one area or a particular 'warm' person. IMO
  15. thanks for assuring my thoughts. one more thing to seek advice...changing of window...the whole tingy ....change 1st or hack wall tiles 1st??? cos it is different contractors...me considering the BESTVIEW sliding cum casement window tingy for my kitchen... thanks
  16. never own one in my life..how to clean??..at least for my 4 standing fans at home..i can wash it regularly, cover, blades and all...but ceiling fan??
  17. anyone done kitchen cabinet by Closetdesign?? is the quality good for medium usage kitchen.
  18. i am planning on a kitchen makeover comprising of hacking the floor and and wall tiles, old cabinets, basin and stove support as well as the storeroom. Mine is a 20 years old HDB flat...so storeroom can be hacked. I read in some deco mag that either ICI or NIppon paint came out with a Teflon coated paint that make wall stainless or rather non-stick...similar to non-stick pan. I considering it as an alternative to laying new wall tiles. Not sure about the cost yet which is more cost saving. But that is only on the side of the kitchen that has no stove..jus plain blank wall with a fridge as well as the window side of the kitchen. as for the other side of the kitchen wall with all the cabinet and stove..why is there a need to lay tiles when 80% is covered with cabinet? the only exposed area is commonly covered with stainless steel or tempered glass backsplash... it seems tat tiles money is wasted in kitchen.... anyone has good advice? appreciate..thanks
  19. recently at harvey norman, i saw a small wine chiller cabinet which can hold 10 bottles. only left display set selling at about $159 or less. Cant remember the brand. Cabinet is quite light. still consider cos it is a display set. but i susposed it would be a used display set as compared to tv which is played in the shop. maybe hor maybe hor
  20. i use ariston 15L for me and my hubby. it serve two bathrooms (shower mixer and basin tap mixer). I on about 10mins and off it after i bath, which means it would have ON for at least 30mins. It last about 4hours. It depend how much hot water you use when u bath. Me and my hubby not into hot bath...so it is adequate for two of us to bath in both toilets at the same time.
  21. hi, wat my fren did was to take photos...suggest to the ID firm that the picture would goes to forum page in straits time or stomp, he told the ID firm that he will complain to RADAC and strip them of the RADAC accredition...go their office of exhibitions during peak times to strongly 'highlight' the flaws... you see the ID firm seldom invite pple to their office especially angry customer cos this is a bad move and will highlight to potential customers the hidden flaws. So ID firm will make a trip down anyway.... dun need to run from them....face them with your evidence... when the lights i bought spoil barely 5 days...i take down the whole tingy and speed to the shop...it is effective as other customers are there....and they wun chase us out anyway...

  23. my sis uses a steam iron by the brand name of Laurastar. It cuts down iron by half time and the clothes are pressed really well and straight. One temperature for all types of material. i am impressed by the demo (at tangs and harbourfront centre-not vivo)...but abit pricey for me.
  24. my family gang bought 3 sofa (each cost at least 3.5k) and i bought a king size bed frame with mattress (at least 3k). The bed frame cover torn on installation, the guy came to take it back for sewing and deliver it back. so far, no much prob with them. Hope better luck with your other purchases.
