Ariston Storage Heater Vs Joven Storage Heater
donut88 replied to donut88's topic in Electronics & Electricals
oh yes. just recalled that some shops explained to me that Ariston tank is not stainless steel. its some 'old-technology' kind of metal composite that is no longer popular in market. one shop even told me it's prone to leakage over a period of usage. the new popular one is stainless steel, and also Joven's tank insulation technology is good. -
And PUB is charging $50 for it......

Any Good Recommendations To Look For Kitchen Sinks?
donut88 replied to SYTan's topic in Home Furnishings
Go for Crizto brand. Its good with dampening coat at the underside of the sinks. Crizto is very common in most shops, and very affordable. Indugle, Excel Asia Marketing etc most shops can only display a few models. They got the full cataloge for you to choose. If u got very deep pocket, then go for Reginox. This is direct made in Holland sinks. One sink is very expensive. -
Ariston Storage Heater Vs Joven Storage Heater
donut88 replied to donut88's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Yes, i'm using the Joven horizontal type. its really good!! it can store the heated water for the whole day. I come back after work, its still hot. -
i just remember one LOUSY supplier.... guess who? PUB!!!!!!!!!! I'm using the PUB gas for my gas stove. So my contractor arrange the PUB guy to come and hook up the gas pipe into my stove. I got a SMS that time to wait for the guy is between 2 to 4pm on Sat. So ok, i waited and waited and waited. The guy really came in exactly 4pm!!! While waited until 3.30pm, i wanted to call PUB and ask if the guy forgotten. But the Customer Service stupid 1800 number says that all offices are closed!!! I was really worried the guy may forget. I was hungry and dying to go down nearby to eat. but at same time, was worried the guy may come up. At exactly 4pm, the guy came and said his appt for the day is all full up. And he just spent 5 mins to hook up my pipe.... I wasted 2 whole hours just for a 5 mins job. Bloody garment service............

Hi all, just my feedback: i was using ariston storage heater last time, 25L type. And now in my new place, i used Joven storage, 25L also. i realised that Joven is alot better than ariston. Joven heat up water really fast. Almost like instant heater. Ariston really must wait. 10 - 15 mins at least. At first i thought for Joven, the worker turned some heat thermostat knob to the highest. But i realised there is no knob to adjust the thermostat. For Joven, i just switch on the switch. take off my clothes, take my towel, just walk in the shower area and open the water tap. Bingo. i get real hot water out. always very hot. i got to quickly turn the tap to colder part of the tap to counterbalance the heat/cold water. For Ariston, must really wait man...... really slow.... sometimes 10 mins also not enough. Often i suffer under cold water running from the shower. So guys, get JOVEN!!!! moreover, the heated water stays alot longer and heated in the storage, even after u switch off the heater for quite long time!!!

I dun buy anything that i got bad service from the shop so far. The thing is that the moment i walk into the shop and sense a lousy salesperson's attitude or the shop looks abit dingy or their prices looks too cheap, i just walk off. So i didn't experience any lousy after sales service shop yet. On the contrary, an experience i want to share with Home Crystal where i bought the shoe cabinet. They are good in their service!! They are supposed to come between 1030am to 12noon. On that morning about 930am, the sales gal called me and remind me of the delivery time and ask for my permission to come at exactly 1030am, as my home is their first delivery of the day. I thought that's a nice gesture and good service from them. True enough, they came at exact 1030. They came to fix up the cabinet. But later, they realised they brought the wrong shelves size. The guy apologise for it and promise to come back by 2pm-3pm on same day to give the correct shelves. He even told me to expect another guy coming. I was abit disappointed coz i got to stay at home. Once the guys left, 5 mins later the same sales gal called me again to apologise. She sounded very sincere and profusely apologising to me. And she assured the guy will come as early as possible. The correct shelves came at 1pm. And the guy also keep apologising to me. I thought this shop has good service. They did what they had to do and very prompt in their recovery.

another one i just thought of: Wall mount hair dryer - JVD Technologies. Address is at Kallang Way This JVD Technology company supplies all toilet stuff, safes, clothes racks etc to hotels. They dun normally deal with walk in customers, but you are still able to buy from them direct. Hoe Kee sells their hair dryers but only limited variety. JVD got more hair dryer models to choose from and sell cheaper. The only problem is JVD open from Mon to Fri, office hours only.

which address you want? all of them? i dun have all of them. but all of their addresses can be found easily on web, go search yellowpages.com or yahoo search.

no need to do so many builit-ins i see some home owners, like mad ppl - everything also builit-in or customised. That's why some reno quote are like $50k. only do some built-in and the rest, can buy from shops.

of course got difference la!! extra height means extra tiles to buy. extra height means more labour cost.

with yr budget, u will do the minimun that u can. my suggestion: The toilets must do.... this is No. 1 priority, because of hygiene purpose. but leave the wall tiles alone. Wall tiles are very expensive to do. do the toilet floor tiles (if can overlay, do overlay, change the WC, basin. The water pipes if not rusty, leave it alone. Give a new paint over them) Kitchen cabinet. See if can keep the old one. if cannot, then change it. For hygiene purpose again. dun do those fancy ones like you read in this forum. Remember the cheapest material for table top is postform. Just do postform table top. Leave all wall tiles alone. Changing wall tiles will be expensive. The flat floors - you can do laminate flooring. Laminate flooring can overlay old tiles. no problem. This will save you money. and laminate flooring can last as long as tiles. For furnitures, just buy from those neighborhood shops. they should be the cheapest of all. Ikea stuff is not tat cheap and i doubt their quality. Lightings - just buy those normal lights (about $30-$40 each) and the contractor will change for you. Ask for FOC for this. No need to change switches and wirings. Wirings can last a long time. See whether the switches are broken or unworkable. if broken, then change. Give the whole flat a fresh coat of paint. This will transform the whole flat. To save even more $$, buy all stuff by yourself. dun ask contractor to buy for you. Stuff you can buy on your own: 1. WC 2. All Basins and taps 3. Switches 4. Lightings 5. Water heater 6. Air con 7. Gas stove 8. Door handles/locksets You say windows/grills are rusty. Paint them over with new paint. They will look new and white. Remember to leave some $$ for fridge & washing machine (these 2 will add up to at least $1000 -$1200) if you want my contractor contacts, PM me.

i had tried the "push out" system in Ezzi Living. It doesnt look easy coz you need some strength to pull down, and stand on one end and push out the poles. imagine you have wet clothes on the poles, and you are trying to pull down and push out. Then later, when clothes are dry, you need to pull back the system. if you got the strength, then its ok to buy this.

i have seen this one at Home Fix. its a stand alone camera, that can take pix or videos. quite cool its motion detection based. once it sense motions, it will start taking pics, stored in SD card provided. No need to connect to anything. if you want to have video, then connect it to PC. Cost $199, with SD card provided

to solve this issue is very easy. just charge rental fees at full market price. simple. See how long the seller can tahan paying rental fees month after month. get the agent to draft out a rental agreement and both sides signed on it. in my case, i charge the buyer rental coz they wanted to move in earlier. I'm ok with that. just give me rental lor. in fact, i'm happier coz i'm getting some extra $$. The best part is i offset the rental from the agent's commission directly. No need to scare the buyer dun want to pay the rental on time. there are ways to go around such problems.

Have You Encounter This?
donut88 replied to lewsinmin's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
Legally, yes. since OTP already signed. So the agents have to remind the seller about the legal issues then. -
built in can be customised to your liking and measurement. ready made ones, will never fit nicely in the space. Sure got gaps here and there. built in ones will covered all gaps and fit in nicely. and talking abt Ikea, pls dun buy from there..... their stuff wont last. guaranteed you this. You can only buy small items from ikea, not the big ones.

Have You Encounter This?
donut88 replied to lewsinmin's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
the seller will know. the HDB will print out the financial details and it will state the flat valuation somewhere. at that time, it depends on how the seller react lor.... they will be in front of the HDB officer. 90% chance, they will not do anything, since they are already there and gone so far in the resale transaction. if the seller backs out at that time, then its up to the agents to "psycho" the seller. the buyer will just pray hard that the seller wont change their mind about selling. -
For s/s stuff, best is to buy from Soo Cho (the chicken brand). Although its expensive, but they give quality and LIFETIME warranty. its better to spend more now, than to spend again later. Imagine now you buy cheap stuff. 4 years later, it breaks down, or rust or whatever. You need to buy another new one and PAY someone to install you again. So you add up the $$, is it worth it to PAY for installation again? Now you buy the best quality, and u wont need to buy again and pay again for installation. For the s/s basket that fits into yr kitchen cabinet, remember that yr cabinet is plywood. to re-install new ones, u need to unscrew the old screw, tat means there will be holes and you cant use back the same holes. you need to screw new holes........ wont it be ugly? And your space allowance in the cabinet will be affected.

Hi all, after a long period of reno and buying process, finally my home is more or less settled. Now left with a sofa and dining table. All other stuff are in. I'm listing down all the shops that i had dealt with and bought stuff from, so that whoever is reading this will know the shops and how i rate them. Thank God that all these shops that i bought stuff never gave me any problems and i'm very happy with the products and service they provide, unlike some forummers who had unpleasant experience with other shops. MEGA Discount Shop - F&P Fridge, TURBO stove, TOSHIBA LCD TV, LG washing machine, Built in RF Oven Extreme Lighting - All my lights INDULGE - WCs, storage heater, taps, shower sets, some bathroom accessories, basin Poo Joo - Basins Crystal Home - Shoe cabinet Choo Chiang - All light switches Home Niche - Laundry system Besglas - Bathroom swing door I will add on whenever i buy new stuff........ The above shops are good in their service and prices. Prices are very subjective coz it depends on how you bargain with them. For me, i got very good price for all my stuff..... no other shops can match them. I only one comment on Poo Joo. Although their prices are pretty cheap, BUT their products are abit inferior quality in the finishings. Well, this is how i see them. The finishings are not so nice, kind of rough and meant for low budget usage. That's why i only buy 2 basins from them and no other things.
