Best thing is, i went down just now to re-install my own lock with key (for the night at least) found out ID changed number lock without telling, and!! his 3-digit number lock can open with at least 3-4 combinations!! what the....! It took me less than 3 mins to figure it out...sigh....is this my karma?!? also, heard somebody say clothes hanger in the kitchen cost HDB $1k to install, is this true? mine is 79B, good to say if you're at the playground downstairs can see our unit... last 2 weeks got no door some more (even more scary and depressing!), but today reinstalled after cutting....i have things inside, that's why a bit jumpy after hearing about the news. i think i read somewhere (not our block i think) thieves are even taking away aircon compressors from renovating units...very the terrifying...imagine, haven't even get to use yet..

Do you know when this actually happened? Now scared already, only have one bicyle chain lock at the gate... and there are...ahem ahem....in the house...then there was one evening, I saw somebody loitering around the staircase, very suspicious. How many cases are there already?! like many right!

Lucky you with a good ID! I can't say our ID is as patient as yours THings are so slow now...sigh.... Everything is like being done halfway... Anyway...i thought your process of putting in tiles are different from us. Did they cement the floor flat first for your whole living room and then lay the homo tiles on top? OUrs is diff, its like...a bit of cement below, tile on top...cement below, then tile on top...wonder which one is the better method. Your house is looking good!
-
Alamak so scary...my flooring finished already...so which country's homo tiles are better? Hard to know this kind of thing leh...
-
Hey Dracul! Why do you have a curve in your floor tiles at the corner of the bomb shelter? So interesting! And must be good workmanship by tiler, not easy this one i guess.
-
We had that too, Vlanze, so was quite surprised. Apparently they turn on the day before you receive your keys for 'your convenience'. Good for us too, can straight away check the electricity points and water supply.

2 number locks? Wow! Yesterday made noise to ID already, said will give his own number lock and chain. I just don't trust my own chain and lock right now, i think very easy to break open. By the way, guys, if something is never agreed on and we never wanted it, like a piece of false ceilng, and then ID's workers went and did it 'accidentally', we shouldn't be charged for it right? Even if we keep it? What do you think? Should keep quiet or point it out ah?

Wah, so scary, like that also want to steal.... and i only have a locked gate, no door the last 2 weeks cos have to 'cut' after flooring done...so every night put in extra lock, every morning unlock for workers...can't take the risk with 'things' inside... want to ask...did you guys use those number lock during renovation? or pass keys to lock to ID?

Hey Babymaro, Oh, no Sheng SHiong in TPY yet, maybe too many competition, NTUC, Shop and Save...Ang Mo! I always thought Sheng shiong all around is always cheap cheap one....all aunties and makciks say so...wrong impression heh but i heard people say they have a lot of parallel imported goods....why is this bad ah? I shop at Swanston! Highly recommended! Although parallel imports, still the same goods i feel... don't see any problem there...but some may not like..
-
Better than Sheng Shiong? Why no Sheng Shiong in TPY ah? hmmm....such a good potential market for them..

Hey Jacky, thanks for the advice! You are right on all points, I believe. It works better if it is in the bathroom right? Because then, the amount of distance water takes to travel to the shower heads are nearer, thus eliminating some time and can enjoy hot water faster Now here's where it is a little perplexing, cos I saw the storage heater in Liana's bathroom, but cannot figure out where the pipes go, maybe back to the entry points in the kitchen (hers had carpentry work covering the entry points) A bit round and round concept right if like that? Ya, we vain lah, hehe, don't want storage heater to spoil kitchen look, but what to do? If die die must have exposed pipings in common bathroom, have to live with it i guess... Any one else can share their experience?
-
79ers! For those who installed their storage heater in the common/mbr bathroom, where do the pipes from the heater go to? I'm **** curious. No way is the heater going to be in the kitchen!! Ugly!

That is right, 80cmx80. I have the opinion as you too, don't think we paid a premium for 'Italian' tiles. ID also did not mention such thing. But the packaging looked very convincing though, all instructions and label in Italian, that's why i was pretty surprised looking at them. As long as the tiles will last, I really don't mind if its from China. Heard those are the better ones in the market too!
-
Anyone's homogeneous tiles is of the brand 'Fiorano'? Saw these marked on the packaging of our homo tiles, tried to google it but no result. Is it really from Italy? Anyone has experience with this brand of homo tiles? We're using 80X80, btw.

Anyone has used the MaxCoil full latex mattress? We thought it is very shiok! But no review so far leh...

Hey Coco, You have a PM! So sad, always missing out on house-hopping cos always so busy..sigh...don't stop, guys! Next time, we want to join and you guys can come to our place too! Our ID so far so good, but in forum has ambigous reputation, maybe can help to look out for things in our place that we may have missed! By the way, 79B #0X-31 here, not TPY ah! hehehe

Hey 79 neighbours, happy May Day! Question, anyone installed 2 air-con systems in their house? Say System-3 plus System-1. For the outdoor units, need to install/run extra power point or not ah? I know that switch at the aircon ledge is rated 20amp, but not sure if can share for both units. Anyone can share their experience?

Anyone has bought from SY Living before? What's the experience like? We thought they had some really lovely modern pieces, it was pretty surprising considering they did not look trendy on the outside. We had a long chat with the SE, Dovan, very informative and not pushy or hard selling at all. And it seems they can customise their pieces to suit your taste at no extra cost!

Congratulations, new neighbour! We've just started our reno too, from 79B, ballot no. in the 700s, which made us rivals back in the day hehe...anyway, glad to know that you've landed a prize! its true, the location is simply too good! Probably we can exchange reno tips in the future, cheers, mate!

79B 3rd floor actually. Maybe the pressure from all the weigh on top. I didn't see it at all when we first received the keys, it looked like water marks, but then the plaster and paint just cracked under some finger pressure.
-
Oh same here! Just noticed the cracked wall in MBR recently, now have to get them to do second round of rectifying after the first one. Wonder if it is inherent to the block. Why block are you in by the way? I'm 79B
-
There is still Banquet in Toa Payoh? I thought it has closed down, near the library one, right?
-
Hey Keltong, What did you get from them? We're thinking of a pole system wardrobe too, it is actually more cost effective than normal wardrobe, and cooler cheers!
-
Your kitchen looks great actually, simple and practical. Although I am still trying to figure this out, where is your sink??
-
Oh really? Which block was this? Cos I have noticed my padlock has been 'locked' on the opposite side of how i would do it before I left, although house is still bare, and don't know if anything is really missing. I've given HDB screeding contractor and the defects contractor the padlock keys but haven't seen any work done in the house. Very strange....
