i paid $110 for door frame and installation

but that was last year's price and i got it directly from the factory :notti:

Thanks 4 all teh advise,

Am I right to say that....

it is recommended to change the rotting door frame,

should cost about $110 for installation of door frame

Removal will be charged seperately.

Then,

how to prevent new ones from suffering the same fate?

normally the door frame is made of wooden and its 3ft X 7ft.

and u need to find a matching colour for ur door frame if u want to match with ur wall colour

and u can simply paint it wood colour depends on you.

yes hacking of the door frame and reinstall cost a lot more than ur door

they charge u with labour cost

We changed our 2 rotting bathroom doors to a basic one - painted white + lever lockset + installation was about $210 per door. The company Goodwood Doors in Toa Payoh Ind Pk also does door frames.

Our yard door was also badly chipped/rot at one corner, but our contractor managed to patch it up and painted it. No charge. Looked ok after that.

Perhaps you can call a few door companies to get quotes to compare?

Thks man ...

What about the front door ? Must be fire rated ?

How do I tell the difference anyway ?

your house not beside staircase, not beside lift = no need fire rated door.

fire rated door is for preventing fire from spreading - which also means if someone stuck inside the house...thats it.

bedroom doors no need fire rated. they cost at least 3 times more.

mostly they will either touch up or paint the frames if the condition is very jialat.

Frame is actually very basic, and is usually same width as the wall thickness.

Normally, IDs will add "architrims", which is wood strips with special profiles, to cover the crack line between the wall plaster and the wooden door frame. If wanna look grand, simply use big flat 40mm wide X 12mm wide trims, or use elaborate patterns. Shops selling wood normally got sample of such profiles

But if add new trims, then need to varnish or repaint the whole frame to have consistent colour.

Aiyoh..Serious ehh ? Frame more expensive then doors !! :o

Do they have such a service which they " re-do" the frames ? Like paste a laminate sheet over the old frames ? Is it possible ?

And does the new doors be fire rated ?
