Wood Decking

Recommended Posts

I'm wondering whether wood decking will collect water below the decking, anyone did that for their balcony? Cheers

Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

the installer will be able to help you divert the flow, pose them the question if you have a concern. If it traps water, then your installer is not skillful or first time doing this, stagnant water breeds mosquitos

There will be a baten (ie. Base) below the deck strips to allow water flow. Depending on the direction of the floor gradient and deck strips, some 'U' channels may be needed to be cut at intervals along the batens to allow drainage. Even though the existing floor has a gradient, it must be understood that it will take much longer to dry than un-decked balcony as there is little sunlight nor wind below the deck.

Do check for water ponding after washing or heavy rain. If such defects are evident, do not hesitate to approach the management for rectification.
