nwa 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2010 Has anyone encountered aircon pipe leakage problem ? We noticed the old aircon was leaking after we bought our new place and aircon service contractor advised to change new units ( old one was already 9yr old) So we changed 3units of Daikin BUT our nightmare begins not long after...it switched off in the middle of the night and cannot be turned on. Contractor asked us to reset the main power by turning it off, wait for 15-30mins then switch it on. It works, but after a few days, it was turned off again. Contractor came to put gas and it last for a month, same problem happened so he suspected its PIPE LEAKAGE. Mine is a condo, so everything is concealed so the only way is to do a pressure test to check if there's any leakage. We were so confused & wondering what's the cause of it and we thought if the contractor have just advise us to change the pipe during our reno work and not changing NEW AIRCON itself, we would not have such problem now. If the pressure test result shows leakage then we will have to hack the ceiling to change the pipe ! We are going crazy ! We do not know if we are trusting the contractor too much but we cant get another contractor bec we bought this new aircon from them.......... Hoping for some kind advise please.... :help: Thanks a million : )
yoongf 11 Report post Posted October 1, 2010 Just abandon the old pipes and install new ones to minimise hacking.
Warrior88 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2010 Need to identify the actual cause first, need to trouble shoot one by one. Whether it is air con pipe, drainage pipe leak/block. Amps not enough or hardware malfunction or setting not right.
bepgof 20 Report post Posted October 1, 2010 (edited) I supposed you are refering to 3 FCUs with 1 compressor. And the compressor stopped working after some hours?? After filling gas, work for month?? 1. Compressor auto-stop usually due to high-temperature. There is a built in sensor beside the compressor. When the fan not working, compressor will stop after heat built up. 2. The gas is compressed and circulated between compressor to 3 FCUs(see which working). If the is a leakage in one of the pipe, the gas "evaporated" fast - within a day or 2, some situation a few hours- depend on what big is the "leak". 3. In this case, compressor working, FCUs working, but no gas in circultation, so those air out from FCUs is "normal air" no more cool. Is this u are experiencing? Then you're in trouble & headace. 4. If only compressor "stop" working, then it is easier. Edited October 1, 2010 by bepgof
maintenance boy 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2010 Hi,from what you have written I guess there is maybe a small percentage that the problem is coming from your pipes. Can come from other problem too.Do ask your installer/technician to check it out first. If your old a/c pipes re performing ok when you change your a/c, I guess there is little chance that it may leak somewhere in the middle of the pipe or those concealed area n i think they will do a pressure test when or during the installation time. I usually encounter those leak re at the joining area/parts of the pipes when they replace the a/c units. I think they should know if they re honnest enough to you. On the other hand, the most important process to to be sure of problem free, is mostly during the installation period.Theres alot of things to consider and if you've got a good installer is those who wont rush in their work to take their time to inspect all those minor minor little error that can give you a big time headache that most people don't realize. Since you re using your old/existing pipes I do hope they flush your pipes....
