edenstrauss 3 Report post Posted January 9, 2011 If you can, try to retain HDB's original doors & fixtures. Based on my own experience, they outdo those in the market as they are mass-produced for HDB's projects. Veneer doors can't withstand scratches because those scars cannot be treated. Solid wooden doors are subject to aging so if expansion & contraction takes place in view of weather changes, you'll see them cracking up in a matter of time. Quality is always important. no point getting those cheap cheap ones which is like $190 & all gimmicky with + + + ends up getting a Cherry QQ then is flimsy & a pain everyday to use it. My parents are obsess with "SOLID" stuff for a gd reason. u knw tt feeling that u go smone's house for house warming & when u close their door in d bathroom & u tot u almost break it? that's a sign of bad quality Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

So besides the industrial areas, where else can I look for such quality doors? And may I have the contact for the contractor who charged $400 for the doors mentioned above? Price Quoted is Semi-Hollow and you may just top up $50 for solid if needed (fill in more woods) What wrong with $198 including lock, stopper and hinges?
