I need downlights for my place. Went shopping and ended up being confused. A few questions:

1. Will it be cheaper if I install halogen lamps but put LED bulbs?

2. For a 4-room HDB flat living room, how many downlights do I need if that is not for the main lighting (which I am using floorlamp). The LED downlights will be for extra brightness. Thinking of putting alongside 3 walls.

Appreciate views.

Okie, dun be confused keke... I'll to solve yr question/doubt.

Using LED for Halogen Type will need quite a number of them... as they can't spread out the light source. It's kind of like spot light effect. End up buying more lights then you need.

As for how many DL you need, will depending on how big yr area is and also what's it for...

Quote you an example: I've sugg my customers to use only 4 nos of DL for a living area main light source. Initially, they're like "huh?? so few " bcos they were ask to use 6-8 nos instead but after it was installed they're surprise keke...

So it really depends...
