Possible To Stain Timber Floor?

Anyone knows if its possible to stain timber floor strip flooring to a darker color? Anyone has contacts to do such stuff?

Any timber flooring contractor can do it.

But need to sand off existing varnish, as stain must eat into the raw wood.

Anyone tried this? How's the effect? Can it be totally blacken?
