Its been a crazy ride but we are finally in our flat! We have stayed the first night and the feeling of being home owners is just AMAZING. We kept looking around the house and thinking how beautiful it all was. Not to sound mushy, but a large part of that joy is finally being able to have a space that you can both own and share. Something that belongs not just to you, but the both of you as a unit. All these musings we shared over wine during the first night in our living room, admiring our brick wall. *Of course I understand that this musing is fairly unique to singapore where you can only buy (more) affordable housing once you're married. Enough of that, let me give you what you all want! Pics! Our new sofa! Custom made and kindly sponsored by my parents in lieu of the 5 "dian jin" (5 bits of gold) during our wedding. The dimensions are perfect! Deep enough to sit cross legged but not so deep that you feel like you're falling when you try to lean back. The firmness is ideal as well! Just wish that the legs were less chunky and more sleek. The fabric makes it look slightly brown but i suspect that its just the lighting off the slightly shiny material. Looks great at night at least! The beautiful brick wall that we were admiring from our couch. our kitchen! A very clean and simple bedroom. We have different schedules so it was important that we just sleep there and get out to do everything else so we don't disturb each other. You can also see the pretty blinds! And this is my beautiful study! I LOOOOVE it. Wife won't get me out of it.

Nice kitchen, layout is great and efforts had been invested in it. If one thing I wanna nit pick will be the door. Is it a swing door or slide door? (correct me if I am wrong) However if the door swing into dining/living and against a wall, then it is fine. I would have done the exact the same thing like you, except the stove and sink to swap places and use a hood instead of a chimney hood. Hood offer more cabinets on top, though will look congested. These, however are just personal preference. Prefer cooking fumes to be near to service balcony than living. The ample table top is brilliance, imagine with all the electrical appliances and what have you when you move in. Throw in the preparation of food, especially if you bake, simply superb. Ample 13A sockets for usage which some will underestimate the need of it. Oven height is desirable, not on the low where one has to bend/squat to check the baking/roasting. And consider the weight of the cast iron cookware, oven on the low may prove a little more challenging. The good mixture of drawers and casement is a big plus! No doubt casement stores more, however one has to squat and "dig in" to get things. Drawing slides out and get a bird's eyes view. Ok, this is coming from a old man 's POV. A undeniable well plan, well thought kitchen.

A Thought or Two On The Oven The oven, the want to have but not need to have. Unless you are a baking enthusiast who use it more than twice a month, else it is still after all a nice deco in modern kitchen. Here to pen down some thoughts that cross my mind when placing the oven. Never been a fan of oven under the stove. Main reason - pure laziness. I cant imagine keep bending over to check the cooking every now and then plus the everyday ageing didnt help either. We went shopping for some roast ware and good lord, arent those heavy! A whatever fancy named ware is easily 1kg or more. Throw in the ingredients and you are looking at 2kg or more up. Non issue for most guys but posing a challenge for the petite ladies. Couple with the blazing heat, it certainly complicates matter. So with the waist height installation, it kinda solve, if not lessen the burden and risk involved during operation. And not forgetting most oven are pulled down type, those with mini me/mini you who are in the phase of trigger happy, may unknowingly reach for it. Plus waist height gives you the excuse have a full height carpentry which most properly isnt goona differ much from normal cost. And also the means to stick a "Tower" drawer unit beside it, so wont look so lonely. So you might wonder, after penning this much, I should be a decent user who can bake or roast? Matter of fact, I'm neither. However, I am doing the hard part - eating.

Hi 12, We hacked away the door and windows. Because of the way the door is installed by HDB, hacking it away will inevitably affect the tiling. And yes, you most definitely need to do re-tiling works. I will PM u the cost.

well, i had the same issues. I gave him 2weeks timeline (b4 7th mth) to install all lightings and complete a tv console with feature wall, a small suspended tv console and a shoe rack. He confirmed it can be done and that's why we signed him up. And apparently, he did the same as ur contractor. He was quick to response etc and even came all the way down to meet us just to sign the contract once we confirmed. And just 1 day before we shift, i went down to check, and to my horror, only lightings were installed. There was no update from him though i keep asking him to update us as i have arranged for my movers. Anyway, we did not shift the day i wanted. I delayed for a week. AND the carpentry was still not done. They completed delivering all the carpentry only after we shifted. That's like 3 weeks later than what he has promised and he EMPHASIZED that he was trying to deliver QUALITY products. But my hubby found scratches on my marble flooring and parquet when the carpenter left. He did not lay the necessary protection to protect my flooring. And his so-called QUALITY PRODUCTS have scratches and, there were gaps b/w the console and the feature wall. We got them to come back and guess what, till TODAY, nothing was done. They pushed from the 1st sat of aug to following sat (which happen to fall on national day), but informed just few days ago that they cant come due to PH. Ok, fine i agreed to pushed another week or two, and guess wat. The carpenters did not show up LAST MIN. I called and chased, then he say arrange again. Finally he got carpenter to call me, carpenter say busy with handover, ok, i try to be understanding, i gave him another 2 weeks b4 i msg. Now carpenter say not depending only his schedule but many issues,. WTH! well, i msg my contractor and ask him settle if he has issues with them. He say he has no issue. I told him to settle my carpentry if NO ISSUES. Well, its supposed to be this sat. Lets see. Just to share, he's a friend of my close friend. LEsson learnt, never engage friend's friend. 1st, its not cheaper. 2nd, they take you for granted. Till to-date he still claimed that he was being responsible. To me, it pure bull****. I am prepared to bring him to court if he doesnt come this week and settle it! Please, dun ever engage them. Jovinson-Cozy Loft pte Ltd. Its my worst nightmare ever!!

Actually, i think mine was about 1m - 1.2m tall. So might be roughly the same size as what you wanted. I assume this is the kitchen bar counter in your 3D that you're reducing? From that area it won't be as visually heavy but I suggest you get the ID to block out the space at the site itself. Mark out the exact area that it will be in and then picture what it will be like. But then again, your great idea of having it movable probably solves it all. Sigh....
