  1. This year National Day if you don't have tickets to the parade I will invite you to my house to watch fireworks....
  2. Hi DKCH, My aircon is the Mitusubishi Electric Starmex. From the brochure the outdoor unit should be MXY-3A28VA. The air-con man also mentioned that the set has a maximum of 30,000 BTU.
  3. You so funny. It's actually four not two. We can see the outside by just opening the wardrobe door and clearing the clothes inside. Won't have to step into the wardrobe.
  4. Progress quite slow. Done: 1) Kitchen floor 2) MBR wall 3) MBR floor 4) Common bathroom floor When I was there on Friday, the guys are finishing up the common bathroom wall and plastering the house. Gave them the points so they will be doing the electrical and plumbing soon. Was in a rush on Friday so didn't have the time to take photos. Will do so on Tuesday when we are there to discuss the carpentry.
  5. You are welcome. Hope you will have a good renovation experience.
  6. Looks good with those "diamonds"....
  7. Wow, fast. Nice laminate. Tomorrow I am going down to meet my ID so can check the progress. But don't think it is even half as fast as yours.
  8. For the more expensive ID, you get to see the concept, design and 3D diagrams before anything. From the 3D diagrams you can finetune what you want (colours, design etc) before you get on to the actual selection of tiles, paint colours, laminate, etc etc. Example of ID film that does this: RestzRelax For the majority of us who is on low budget and choose the ID that quoted us the lowest, 3D diagrams seem to be a rare thing. Yes, you might get one of two - but the idea is to supplement the whole renovation experience rather than having it as a guiding plan for the renovation. For my case, I get to see 3D diagrams for my kitchen and masterbedroom, perspective drawing of kitchen, masterbedroom, study room, and living room. Now chasing for the 3D diagrams for our shoe cabinet and console/feature wall.
  9. Sorry don't have any magazines to spare. I read them from the library. For the occasional ones that I bought (for the pictures), I cut out the pictures and threw the rest of the magazines away.
  10. If you go to the tile shop at Toh Guan, there is a big showroom on the second floor. You can go around and see what concept you like then ask your id to help you choose identical tiles. In this way you know how the combination will be like.
  11. One thing about Baroque is that they don't [need to] go onsite but quote you based on your floor plan. As the result, there is some buffer built in and disclaimer (such as "valid for some units only"). The way to work is to request them to go to your new flat and explain what he is proposing. In this way he gets to see the real thing and could quote you more realistically. And more importantly, no hidden cost.
  12. My ID gave me a number to call (specified to our application). You could ask your contractor/ID for the contact. Call direct to check the status.
  13. Your clock is very nice. Where is Artfriend? Bras Basah Complex?
  14. Our tiles also chosen by my wife, including how the colour tiles should be arranged. Three cheers for the lady of the house!!! Wow you got so many tilers working for you, no wonder so fast. Everytime I dropped by my place, I only saw one tiler working, although he always said there are three more coming (but never see the three guys before). I only dropped by the house when my ID asked me to, so not very sure of the progress. When we were there on Monday, the tiler was just laying the tiles for the kitchen flooring. Both bathroom walls are half done (less the mosaic and one or two walls at the common bathroom). Will be dropping by again this Friday or Saturday to confirm the electrical point. Will take some pictures and report the progress then.
  15. Nowadays WMs come with legs, so washing the floor will not wet the WM. I am doing away with WM base as well as fridge base - two reasons: 1. We don't really wash floor, maybe once in 5 years LOL 2. Without the base, you are free to change to any model of WM and fridge, as long as they fit in the space. No longer have to make sure the machines fit well into the bases.
  16. Impressive. Overall your progress is so much quicker than mine. I estimate the tiler would have done half the kitchen floor by today only. Very nice. Good choice of tiles!
  17. We are doing without the washer base so won't have the same problem....
  18. Are the grouting in? You may want to consider having grey grouting instead of white, especially for bathroom. If not, after sometime the grouting will turn from white to orange to brown and then to black. You will have a hard time cleaning it with a toothbrush.
  19. The owner, Richard Lau, is actually the brother of my agent for my resale flat. That's how I get to know him. They have a carpenter workshop in Singapore and that's where they excel. Saw two show flats (one three-room flat at Havelock and a condo at Mountbattan), both are very well done with extensive use of carpentry. But price not cheap, and like one other popular contractor (Ah S***) on this forum, try to guess our budget and priced it too high, so we went with someone else. Don't think Richard is new in the business, but the shop at Katong Mall looks big and new. There are lots of good food opposite the shop.
  20. For my case - the contractor removes the existing aircon (and sell them for money). Then we will get the aircon in to do the trunking after the wet work is done. The indoor units are installed at almost the end. According to the aircon guy, this is to prevent the workers from turning on the aircon while they are renovating your house. Electricity is one thing; if the aircon sucks in enough dust it will drastically cut down the lifespan of your aircon unit.
  21. Jilat, don't want to deprive our senior citizens of their table tennis....
  22. Hi All, I will be shifting to Delta Ave late July / early August. Any good food recommendation around that area? Hawker food and/or restaurant food are all welcome.
  23. Found another one opposite Bukit Timah Shopping Centre. $17.90+++ including Chilli Crabs. There is a durian stall next to it so you can buy some durians after your dinner.
