Just visited the unit today. The progress is good and Henry actually enjoys our cooperation. He says we work together like a team..haha He is very strict so I need not have to worry too much. You will be in good hands =) Half the living hall floor very very nicely done. Kitchen floor in progress Common toilet floor overlay very very nicely, matching in line to existing wall tiles. They will be match grout colour with the floor tile. MBR toilet wall tiles thumbs up! About the floor....it was the most exp tile from Hafary (the rest are from Hup Kiong), sad to say they are not exact 300x300. Unable to match against the wall's 300x600 exactly in alignment. Still ok to accept as toilet has WC, vanity top and shower kerb to conceal the floor to wall tile alignment issue. Just found out that the tiler worked 9 yrs for Henry! Henry takes about 2-3 days to reply a quotation. Plus he was on course last week. Next week phase 2 discussion with carpenter will be in progress.

yup yup the back cushion is adjustable and the two piece backing creates good support for my back.
-
The tiler will further slice the tile to the edge of door so that when the door is closed....the living room tiles are showing not laminated floor.

Day 2 We have ordered tiles from both Hup Kiong and Hafary. Hafary has delivered our expensive tile c for the MBR toilet floor. BUT they delivered the wrong tone because the salesgirl wrote down the wrong code!!! OMG!!! Luckily there's a stage (tomorrow) whereby we will check all the tiles with Henry and discussing tiling. *Exhausted* Wedding Photoshoot is next week =.= Need to look pretty ah!!!

That's my living/dining hall partition. It is a backing for the sofa and prevents pple from sitting under the beam. Stripes will be painted white - same colour as main wall to help blend it into the whole environment. HTB and I wants min holes drilled...so there's no wall mounting of tv...so no intention of tv wall feature YET. Will concentrate basic needs...afterall we are eating dinner @ my future-in-laws' place every weekday and sundays.

Good news...no more bangaladeshies or china peeps after hacking stage *phew* Henry doesnt like to work with them either

Day 1 This evening... Found store room / mbr / mbr toilet lights NOT OFF! Found cigarette butt on bedroom floor! Two bags of biscuits offered to them during lunch - ALL GONE! Thats A LOT A LOT A LOT OF BISCUITS IN HALF A DAY! They must have took it HOME. Bangaladeshies....argh Called Henry and feedback that they can use our wall fan but not waste electricity + no smoking in the house Henry's reply - Dont need to pity them or be nice; Seal up all the wall fan; I will punish them. Wor...in the end we wrapped the fan plugs with masking and marked them. Morale of the story: Check your renovating unit REGULARLY!!!

Choosing Tiles Henry's assistant is Jeffrey from Hup Kiong. A top notch service sales mgr - wakzool will 2nd this too! Although Hup Kiong is a rare among the latest home owners undergoing reno, it is quite a established company well known in big projects and in particular country & rustic style. They have new tiles imported but I was a little skeptical and requested to visit Hafary too - Both @ Defu Lane. Jeffrey picked us up personally, spent 4 over hours explaining and matching colours (white/grey/blue theme) for the following tiles: - Living/Dining Floor - Kitchen Floor - Common Toilet Floor - MBR Wall & Floor We thought it was going to be a easy task but nope! Lots of knowledge required!!! 1) If it is a floor tile, always request to place it on the floor 2) Feel free to step all over with your bare feet 3) Ask about quality 4) Ask about stain maintenance 5) Contrast with wall/laminate colour Despite being a Hup Kiong sales, he drove us to Surface (subsi of Hafary) and even waited for us until we are done! Being too tired and experienced, we made it snappy in less than 2 hrs. Round 2 after 1 day of rest was somehow necessary because we wanted to pick alternative for white/cream theme. This time round, we brought laminate and solid surface catalogs to match our floor tiles. It was SO helpful and we were so glad that it was a fruitful trip. Here are the tiles (what I can find in Hafary - I can also find it at Hup Kiong - No issue @ all!) This set is confirmed. Will be deciding over Combo A or B after visiting EDL this weekend with the sample tiles It will be a fight between cream/wood or grey/white kitchen! Tile C is a very nice but very expensive grey tone from Hafary - Yikes! Question: anyone has a kitchen HIGHER than your living room? Hope my kitchen doesn't flood!

Meeting the Neighbours We are almost ready for the hacking on Monday. One step lacking - meet the neighbours, inform them and say hi officially. Our contractor - Henry has prepared a mini renovation notice with his contacts for affected neighbours. We bought bags of biscuits for all neighbours on the same floor and directly below/above us. The neighbours are really nice and very surprised at our little gesture. At first they thought we were salesman :x Anyway, this is a recommended move/gesture. Hope this small little effort goes a long way! =)
