  1. hi AJ, saw tt ur partition is also done with gypsum board as the covering? did yeak give u any reason as to why he did that? our built-up storeroom is also the same - ID told us it's cos they can paint over it. the hubby feels that gypsum board shouldn't be used tho... the wife... well, she is clueless any insights?
  2. pipings r very nicely laid. the change of window fm 2 panels to 1 panel also made it look nicer. everytime i see the different bathrooms wip, i regret not choosing more varied tiles for the bathrooms but... nice choice u have there
  3. does tt mean the whole building shares the same structure? meaning one whole block of concrete thru the whole building, tt why its a structural support? else even its ready made, should pose no problems to hack mah
  4. amazing... did u come up with the configurations yourself, or did jason do it? the wardrobe looks great! i'm now wondering why we didn't ask to have tall cabinets in our kitchen; but given our weird kitchen, i guess its not very possible
  5. just curious to know - what does prefab mean?
  6. ours was way more exp than yours... after reading the PE costs of some of the blogs around, wonder if we were kenna kotok for that PE endorsement. but after HDB revoked the approval despite PE endorsement, the flat blueprints were dug out, and confirmed not hackable... big SIGH
  7. geez, we know how that feels - cos we also wanted to get rid of an RC stiffener @ our balcony initially so that the space could be opened and levelled out. the reno permit to HDB was initially approved; we were so happy when we checked the website. then the next day, ID called to tell us that the approval was revoked cos of some structural thing; even the PE endorsement didn't help money down the drain, beam left to stay. no choice, had to level out the entire ceiling with the beam, so the space looks smaller and so much lower try talking to ur ID and asking him what kind of proposals he has to counter this problem, so as not to make the space look cramp and small. perhaps make it into some feature wall? cheer up; there's a silver lining to everything... maybe u just haven't seen it
  8. sorry for hijacking this thread. for water feature, do we have to have it on 24/7 to signify continuous flow? any implications if we only switch it on occasionally? thanks.
  9. is it becos of the scratches due to carpentry works and stuff? its the same with us... one round of polishing was already done, but after the carpentry and painting, the floor is like again. also some deep chinks fm previous hacking when floor wasn't protected yet i'm wondering how the polishing will be carried out with the carpentry, cos heard that alot of water will be used in the process. we have requested another round of polishing, wondering if it will solve the scratches
  10. the dark wood furniture is very nice; very nice and resort feel
  11. the std thickness for tempered glass doors are 10mm, if i am not wrong; this is the min. there are those who choose 12mm for higher doors; but they are much heavier. there are many useful threads in this forum on the various aspects of reno - i also got to know the above fm my daily reading
  12. what dog do u have? next time i'll walk my doggie over to ur place when he comes to visit
  13. hah, thanks for the tip. my frens have a job to do oredi. we were @ the unit on sat watching the plumbers install the bathroom accessories and kitchen tap - and came up with a long list of rectifications while waiting. few defects here and there... sent the list to our ID and asked him to see to those areas b4 the official "rectification" stage, heh. btw, could we just find out fm you - how many rounds of chemical washing were done for ur place? we had one round b4 carpentry, but the whole place is just dirty and dusty again now. wondering if another round of washing will be done b4 completion. ur place looks good, btw. like the kitchen. looks nice and comfy enuff. could we be kaypohs and go up for a visit? amk ave 10 isn't too far fm where we are now. we're currently staying in amk too!
  14. hey coke, glad to see u back online. so how's the report card you gave ideal design? glad with the overall results and outcome? did u have alot of areas to touch up and rectify? any tips for us on areas we should be looking into? ID told us that our reno should also be complete by end of the coming week time to start scrutinizing for defects!
  15. hello, does anyone have any contacts or recommendations for reasonably priced sofa cushion makers? our wooden furniture does not come with cushions, so we need to have them made; and the dimensions of the furniture are customized, so we will need to source for cushion makers. any help would be appreciated, thanks!
  16. hi newnyew, here you go. ignore the unpainted area around the switches. That was the WIP pix. hubby probably won't spray the switches coz he's a lazy bum
  17. good for you, newnyew. welcome to the club haha price from Choo Chiang should be the same, i probably remembered the price wrongly. I needed to factor in the $0.30 'housing' for the regulator since we aren't doing concealed switches.
  18. i would like to sell mine too if there are ready buyers haha but i really doubt so, since we've confirmed that LeGrand regulator works
  19. 28 aug ID said he can handover to us tomorrow gonna take on coke's advice, and get friends over to help check on the place... just got a call from our furniture people... its all ready! all our stuff will be delivered next fri... looking forward to that!
  20. --- updates continued room doors installed - pending varnish/lacquer track above mbr feature door ID boasted to us that only condos get this usually - hah. thanks to him, we get a condo door track. it beats having the conventional door stopper magnet thingy tho. just push, and door stays the hubby's display cabinet - glass installed the hubby's dream to have a display for his toys... OK, the great wife lets him have it holes drilled in display for led lights this was a last minute request - we initially did not cater for these lights - but the hubby thot it would be better to have his toys basking in the light. it was pretty decent of our ID to accomodate to this change - carpentry had to be changed slightly, new wiring had to be done... the hubby was very happy. it would have been perfect if ID had offered to throw in the lights for free, but that didn't happen, haha
  21. progress update - end of week 8 most of the major work has been completed - we're now left with the touching-up, rectifications and remaining electrical works. can't wait till completion! then its cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning for us, delivery of furniture, curtains, electrical appliances, then the big move in sept kitchen glass panels r up - these will form the kitchen walls the wife likes this alot kitchen door open kitchen door closed glass backsplash up franke sink + tap... with our chicken s/s bars
  22. why do u ask that? did u see someone driving a black OPC spying on you or something? haha. nope, we dun drive a black car... black is nice, but maintenance will be ****... and given the fact the wife works near tuas, geez, black car will turn to grey car every day cos of the dirt and dust. so to combat the problem, and to make the dirt look less obvious, we drive a... grey car!
  23. it looks abit dated... i think tt's the problem. its aluminium frame and acrylic/ fibreglass pane? the sliding door in my parent's kitchen looks exactly like that. but the tracks are hidden cos we have the fridge there - so no danger of tripping over it or anything. that being said - our reno was done 12 yrs ago perhaps u could speak to ur contractor - see if he can offer any other options; nowadays most sliding doors come with top-hung tracks instead of both
  24. yeah, it can be filed to become rounded edge, but of course, the edges wun look so sleek oredi....it will be rounded @ the ends. i think our granite kitchen top was slightly filed to match the profile. forkie, when is ur estimated handover? was looking out for ur updates. carpentry is taking longer than expected for u!
