  1. im using otto...somehow the flushing is not very strong...im not sure if its due to poor installation as there are no smells watsoever...
  2. my suggestion is get something light...mine are so heavy, it becomes a chore during mopping and dining time haha
  3. hmm i only bot coffee and drinks for them...act for me, if i thk they are working hard, no prob buying lunch and dinner if im there ard tat timing..
  4. hi sorry as my reno journey was quite bad i did not have a reno blog anyw below is pics of my kitchen i took w my hp... i also have glass backsplash for my hood/hob area (one of the pics).. for us, we do not regret not tiling at all as we are light users of the kitchen..but if u regular user, seriously tiling is better for long run..easier to maintain.. one problem we have is if plastering not done well, may flak (eg) when cleaning, u knock ur mop onto it etc, some paint flakes drop down..
  5. lexus for me... sigh the profile of 318 and 520 owners nowadays hehe
  6. hmm give u a gauge on A&A cost...its about 220 - 250 psf...so 300k covers roughly 1300sf....is that the size of your terrace?
  7. reno is capital in nature, u cant claim that. any other repairs/maint that you undertook can claim. Interest portion of your mortgage also can claim.
  8. hi my case was like tat...if im not wrong, in order to cover the tiles, u will need cement screed first followed by plaster to smoothen the surface..
  9. TS, wat r u asking - paint grade or white shade? anyw for me my walls and ceiling are the same shade white and from the same paint grade.
  10. 15k is abit tight for the whole hse... u def hv to forgo carpentry like wardrobes for the room, feature walls, plastering and new aircon. to cut some cost, u can try separate contractors (if u hv the time - eg. source your own doors, laminate for the rooms etc) else u can opt for lesser tiles in the house (eg. laminate for rooms instead of homo tiles, cement screed kitchen walls and paint with wash n wear paint). that shd shave some costs off ur reno.
  11. if i can do it all over again for my own home, i wil bite the bullet n go for the inverter. my parents changed from fujitsu to the inverter mitsu starmex sys 3....whoa its so much quieter and uilities cut $100 every month...used to be 280 - 290 per mth, down to below 200. and poor me took over the fujitsu as im low user..
  12. ya money can break a relationship.. i can stil rem my first serious gf, tog for 7 yrs but really the moneys involved in getting married, buying house etc was too much...and tat was in 2002 and there was no interest free instalm fr credit cards..everyt need to b in cold hard cash else hv to take loans... now married but things r v different now...wife contribute 1k into our joint acct and i settle all exp such as utilities, phone, home expenses etc... and we know full well each other's salaries and bonuses etc.
  13. not true for my case...i stil see mozzie in my house regularly....so everytime i see one wil surely chase and try to kill it...
  14. act i meant each....nowadays earning power of women is also very strong...but those who earn that range also wan to live that range, else how to explain the surge in private housing and age 30-ish drivers in BMWs, C class and IS250???
  15. but theres not much prog left...F1, BPL, Champ League all to mio alr...i wil b cancelling the sports package once the BPL current season ends..
  16. well the issue w singapore is always peer pressure. its a race to be better than the pple ard you, even neighbours and neighbour children whom u hardly see - our very rat race in our hearts. well if everyone can b contented w a 1.6 and a 4/5 room hdb, i thk w the current payscales that young pple are taking now, im quite sure quite alot can retire before 50. think double income and earning in excess of 100k pa is not far off for someone in the 30s. but if one succumbs to peer pressure (note its not even personal ideals or dreams - its just i cant lose to my fren. i came fr a better JC, first things first.), he wil end up like the horseman, finding no joy in everything he does.
  17. in terms of BB, i thk Singnet is better due to dedicated line. my sis is in the IT line and she refused to use the free starhub internet that came w our cable tv. another fren of mine also switched to singnet once her contract w starhub ended. but talking abt tv, its more impt to talk abt content. anyw w the new ruling, i thk it wil only favour mio tv as they wil soon b able to show BPL, HK TVB series and all the current Taiwanese variety programs currently owned by starhub. becos the current MIO Tv programmes really suck haha
  18. cham...im 34 tis yr and stil no kids...many of my frens are like me..some even not married...
  19. me...wish to get one for my parents to retire...a small 2 bedder wld do..some facilities for them to spend the day..
  20. no prob..i went laminate for room only as (1) cheaper than tiles and (2) gives the room a more "warm" effect. and no worries abt the tile and laminate distinction in ur house as it looks fine and many pple do so. mine so far ok...coming 1 yr since installed. as for cost i cant quite rem but it was quite cheap like less than $3psf and abt 1.2k for 3 bedrooms. nowadays they come w waterproof function. the choice of colours are def more than ikea and i went w dark colour. but it really depends on ur room scheme.
  21. haha thanks all for your suggestions...wat the article says is true, i dun wan them dead, jus not in my house haha.
  22. did consider ikea but in the end went w the laminate contractor and its even cheaper! also 15yrs warranty.
  23. not much food lying ard actually... initially still can tahan but really last week was the last straw for me thanks for the tip bro.
  24. how do u guys get rid of lizards in the house? my house is only 8mths into new reno and alr the lizard(s) are marking their territory as their droppings are always at the few same spots (near my kitchen door, dining area). last week it got worse, one on my rice cooker and one on my bath towel which i hang in the toilet. problem now is i hv never seen them! and i dun know also how many... any poison or traps that i can buy?? thanks..
