  1. hey thanks for the advice. yes. its a long problem ****. actually i got a really retarded contractor who is a best buster and in construction. do you know what he said? the termites are now leaving inside my walls and that they will always appear as and when they need to eat. solution, rebuilt the house. i live in a semi detach house. imagine the cost. geesh. moved out of that house and rented it out. lesson learnt, i only use solid wood furniture and buy plywood which is treated from my truested store at chinese garden. no more act smart. haha. if my condo gets termites, the whole block is so dead. everyone will get it.
  2. This is going to one of the most important threats in the house. Last year, i went to purchase some PINE wood to make shelves as the shop keeper at sungei kadut told me pine was the cheapest wood he had. Then i tot the grain was nice and the wood had a nice scent. So i happily made shelves with it. And I also went to purchase some cupboards from the cheapest furniture maker in town. U should know who they are. I***. Every mess started this year. when the pine started to sought of bouched up. and the shelves was like giving way. To my horror, there was termites in my house and they were just attacking the shelves made of PINE and the pine furniture. My old cupboard and bed made of plywood and solid wood was spared. Angry that termites had come, i went to the timber shop at sungei kadut and asked the boss why so fast there was termite. upon research from the net, i realised pine was the most prone to termite attacks. only treated pine would not get it. The answer from the boss, you want cheap wood mah, so i recommend according to your budget. Okie my fault. Anyway, i swear not to use pine in the house again. the cost to get rid of termites $600. 10 times the price of my wood. ****. and it attacked even my textbooks which is priceless. so i learnt my lesson and all those who like to buy cheap pine furniture. hope you dont stay in your house for too long. you will have termites. Until now i still get the occassional termite attacks. and each termite trip cost me 100. sian, but no choice.
  3. if u want to know why pine is cheap. cause it is crap. I wanted cheap last time and made some shelves using pine from my timber shop. within a year. everything was spoilt. due to moisture and the most freaking thing. TERMITES. termites love pine wood from ikea and any pine, I spent 600 engaging a pest buster to get rid of the termites. till today still got attacks. and i swear never to use pine again. really crap things for crap prices.
  4. Okie one thread to reply all. Yes, they have one side laminated and 2 side laminated. Got sprayed white laminated plywood too. Not paper stick ones. more durable and dont peel off so quickly. Yes they got outdoor wood like chengai. And they can cut round, but use jigsaw law. so is not the super round type. Straight they use bench saw so sure very straight. haha

  7. Hey i just bought one litre to paint my toilet floor from a hardware shop. cost 66 dollars a tin. It works and my folks are not falling so much. Call 65652141 and enquires. i also got the number from someone
  8. just decided to add the price of timber after getting the price for some materials. For the 1/4 inch plywood is $26 for a 4ft*8ft For the half inch plywood, it is $44 for a large piece of 4ft*8ft. all wood is sold in this dimension for the 5/8 inch plywood with one side laminated is $54 for the large piece of 4ft*8ft. So after seeing the prices listed here, i realised they are selling it quite reasonably. if you are buying more than 2 piece, you can negotiate the price abit. haha. and yes, i bought a makita jigsaw to saw my kitchen top for $100 if i didnt remember wrongly. So yah. if you got any enquires, i can pass you all the phone number to call.
  9. i think per foot run, which means 1 foot by 1 foot square is $6.50. 6mm thick. yah. i got it from the hardware shop i always go and got the quote for my kitchen top. if not you want something unbreakable can try acrylic which is more expensive.
  10. if u live in the east. you can try hiap hin timber merchants and trading. blk 348 jurong east avenue 1. #01-1245. i bought a 1mm or 2 mm thick aluminium sheet from them before. they actually keep a large range and even open on sunday so really makes things easier esp for working people.
  11. wah. the france one is really a joke. i managed to change the whole system plus the water level control at $37. i went to my usual hardware shop and they sold me the whole set for 37. if he said to change the single flush is just 22 dollars. double flush is 40 from italy. so i see no reason we pay so much more. so maybe diy will always help save money
  12. if u buying those spray paint with compressor, you need a license. Every year need to do inspection cause many cases of explosion when people who are not preofessionals use it. so its recommended you buy it only if you are in the renovation line. if not sure a waste of money.

  14. hey bro, you really did a very nice job with the colour. Did you use lamination or just coloured it yourself? I am now trying to design and build my own bar counter. Cause the really nice ones cost a few thousand at least. And I managed to get someone at bukit batok to quote me spraying. He said the spraying will cost about $300. So i was wondering if you painted or used lamination. Thanks.
