Ah Soon

Frankly i dont really undestand, life is so simple and things turn up to be so complicated. For those ppl have concern or worries, dont engage ah soon services. Choose yr own contractor and move on with yr life. For those whom still thinking of whether to engage ah soon, dont expect ID standard. -

Ah Soon
blackcar replied to juz_me's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
Yap ah soon himself doesnt have the licence. But he did ask a licence company or contractor to cover him this is basically ok. That licence company will be held liable in the event there are any issue violating the contractor rules and regulation during the process of work. Ah soon dont have to be "legal" to start the renovation works. As long as applied for the renovation thru the town council and obtain approval that is most important. If say ah soon didnt apply, then the owner is at risk and ah soon deems as "illegal". If this is the case, better dont engage his services or any other contractors that are illegal. Anyway, it is common for contractor to ask or borrow from licence company to obtain renovation permit from the authority. Yes, ah soon provides reasonable price, not cheap price compare with ID firm. As most important of all, he is reasonable and willingly to go to the extra mile to help. Thats what customer is looking for and not argue and argue till the cow comes home. my two cents -

Crystal Chandelier Less Than $400 Possible?
blackcar replied to blackcar's topic in Home Furnishings
I brought all my stuffs from Royal Franco at 135 Jalan Besar. I didnt go around comparing prices. Coz all the answer can be found in this forum. Tips on nego on pricing, no need to nego on every item is super tiring and time wasting. If u got faith with the particular shop, just tell them what the items u intend to buy. After that, sum up the total and ask them to meet yr set budget and minus the GST too, its works for me so far!! But must be reasonable lah, then next is play innocent, how come i dont have this and that, others places got leh. Sure the fellow will give and give!!! hope this helps. Btw, i feel like a gal bru, going shopping to nego and nego, super tired!!! -
Wow, must sell the house ah? Can the center toilet to be converted to store room or WIW? Will this helps? Can any master advise?

Crystal Chandelier Less Than $400 Possible?

Oh y is that so? Care to share? -
Correct, it is a norm at the edges is hollow coz when the tiler apply the cement paste aka buttering technique. All the sides are usually lesser so as allow the cement in the middle to squeeze out at the point of tiling. Hence, most of time the edges are usually hollow. Then again, if the edges are hollow when u drill a hole on it, the edges of four pcs of tiles will usually crack!!! So when drilling a hole onto a tile, do avoid the edges!!! Why a tile pop out!!! Well this happens comprises of three factors. The quality of the tiles, the cement wall and the skill of the tiler. Those tile that requires overnite soaking are usually inferior quality which most of the contractor recommended to the customer, at $3 pce or so. Apart from this, the tile quality are poor, such as warp and the side are slanted too, if you observed carefully. So if the tiles are not soak thoroughly, the tile will suck the cement paste dry up too and coz hollow. As for wall tiles will pop out usually bcos of few reason, which i wont go into details. Long story cut short, the wall suck too much water from the cement during plastering of the wall and the cement paste from the tile. When this happens, causes the tile to hollow and poping of wall tiles. Why? Bcos the mixing of the cement ratio is not porportional, like too much sand over cement etc. Another reason is that the wall somehow or rather is super thirsty, especially those wall are build by hollow bricks!!! Lastly, the tiler mixing of the cement paste is not porportional and buttering technique is poor. In short, wat i m trying to say is, is ok to have hollow tiles at the edges. But is up to individual of the acceptance level. Oh YES no tolerance of hollow tile in the middle, chances of it popping up is high especially those on the top. I m sure u dont wanna to wear safety helmet at home rite?? cheers Oh one more tip, for checking of levelling of flooring, just take one ping pong ball and roll it lightly across from one to the other end. If the tiles are not even, the ball will bounce!!! Happy ping pong ya. '

Yap brought another one. Available or not, you can call them up to ask. -
Nah, not heng suay issue here. He needs to know the contractor well before he can engage their services. If not, he got to conduct QC regularly on them for the first few jobs. Outsourcing is a norm for the contractor even ID company. As most of them dont employ the contractors. As mentioned earlier, time and ppl management is the key issues for ah soon. Dont be bothered abt the comment of u flaming another contractor, you are merely stating the fact!!! The truth is out there. As for the part of compensation and payment, reason out with ah soon with fact. I m sure he can understand, no need to argue. All the best!!!

from what i read from the forums, he has many sub-contractors, and kept changing. (correct me if i'm wrong) all these results in work held back, and when workers were rushed to complete their work, and get h*ll from uncle if they don't do well or in time, human nature, the workers don't feel good. And in the end, they give sh*t to the owners. Hi, i do agreed with u. With the rate ah soon going without proper time and ppl management, he will eventually lose all his customers and workers too. Hope he can change his style in doing business. cheers
