i think we can come up with small interesting projects. there are a couple on the net. we can t-loan a wkshp? maybe get an instructor or something to show us techniques and safety aspects first.

Hmm. We Suggested that to ID but he says that having a blackboard is a bit boring. He hasn't seen Ely's board I reckon but still we kinda agree with him. I dunno what to write or draw after a while. We hope for this feature to be functional as well.

OK, so no more island kitchen. this is the alternate version, which is attaching a full height larder/service area next to the former island. now its more of a peninsular. i want to lighten the dark tone wood to an ash or light oak colour. wife and i were talking about what to feature on the larder's side. sky planters? translucent glass to offer a peek on what's inside? shelving for nice knick knacks? blackboard? ideas are welcome!

I reckon we can start off with wood first, seeing your blog signoff. geography wise, it'll definitely be in an industrial estate. just have to find a willing owner to do it. interested parties, we can start a list: 1) rottenramone 2) 3) 4) 5) 6)

Em At Sunset Way
rottenramone replied to gerby's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
yes those EM units are unique and beautiful isn't it? supply is limited and am not sure if they will be developing the land as they just laid a newater pipe along the forested area. connectivity may be a issue if u take the mrt too. -

managed to find NEA's database for energy saving appliances http://els.nea.gov.sg/mels/aircon.asp good resource for those who want to save electricity and the earth.

count me in too. it can be a small workshop. i previously scouted the NUS industrial design workshop, but students are on it 24/7 as they have projects to churn out. another thing to consider is what type of tools to include? there are woodworking tools, metal work etc. there's also electrical stuff. there's a small workshop at bras basah called tree wizard which has tools for minor works. if you need 3D printing, my cousin has one. he doesn't do loans, but i guess we'll need to pay a small fee. i didn't do any engineering, but am interested in making my own things.

adventures in scoring (relatively) cheap chichi funiture was trawling the interwebs for good deals and one day a post popped up. with an air division desk at a nice price. emailed the guy and he replied rather quickly. noticed that he signed off as allan wu. really turned out that it was him. just visited his splendid colonial black n white apartment which he was renting. at 2500 sq ft, the place is huge! and with kickass gardens around to boot. they are moving away and have some stuff to sell, but most were given away to friends and relatives. here's a pic of the desk. wife (not li lin) will use it as a dresser. i shall call the dresser "allan".

something which i did too. but most of my loans went to comics. managed to borrow a few on midcentury modern and was schooled on eames, saarinen, poulsen, neutra etc. interesting that eameses are such a creative bunch. they produced films as well. was also surprised that their residence is not as minimalist as i thought it would be. struck me that most modern designs which came from the 1930s are still relevant today. i can imagine the ppl in that era mocking them. prophets are never recognized in their own time. also realised that the main diff between usa and scandi countries is the copious amount of wood scandi designers use. the us side exploits technological advances to bend and shape veneers and plywood rather than carving it. anyways, managed to snag 4 magis air chairs for less than $300. dining chairs are settled.
-
That makes the 2 of u guys.
-
Maybe we can group together to save shipping costs. Can send us a price list?
-
the real good chairs look like origami and therefore very cool. that's why we got it. the chairs are self assembled. i really like blu dot stuff. it's like ikea for hipsters lol. thanks for the links. we've also found a few shops in BKK: http://www.boonthavorn.com/ megastore for tiles/flooring/bathroom fixtures. near the rachadaphisek bts station. they recently opened another branch in rangsit http://www.aesthetic-studio.com/newweb/ that veneer lamp can be found in thousand tales, grafunkt and pomelo. will ask my thai friends on other indie furniture stores. they went ikea crazy when they were here. ikea will be opening a hugeass store there soon.

when i was in sec sch and passing by queenstown mrt, there was this block of old flats much taller than the usual blocks. it had streamlined corridors across the block. later i found out it was called forfar house on the papers when the hdb announced that it was going to be demolished. here are some pics which i found on the national archives website: http://picas.nhb.gov.sg/picas/public/internetSearch/advancedSearch.jsp?thesaurusFlag=Y&simpleSearch=forfar%20house&pageNumber=1&total=16
