  1. Thanks so much for the explanations Woah I often see people fixing pots and prayer stands along their corridoor. Previously I didn't know that those were unacceptable. I will look out for the fixtures tonight.
  2. Hi bepgof, My house inspection is later today. It'll be my 1st time doing inspection. May I know what's "corride door" ? Any pic to illustrate hehe? I don't understand the two points: - corride door fixtures to be "movable" at any time - hooks on ceilings(corride door) to be removed Please enlighten me. Thanks!
  3. Agree. Govt is trying hard to please everyone and doesn't dare to roll out any rule that will piss many people off because election is coming lol.
  4. There's a lot of competition in this line. I heard of some agents even stalk house owners at lift lobbies in order to get business. In fact, my sil tried to work as a part-time agent early last year but no business & failed in it. Now she works in another line. The starting part is always the toughest. An agent has to build enough contacts and network to be successful. Jia you!
  5. Therat is right. You must leave all doors open to air it. You can also put charcoal bags (available from Daiso, Guardian) to absorb moisture from the fridge.
  6. This agent is sibei rich lor. He owns 1 HDB and 5 private properties!
  7. To those of you who didn't engage a property agent, how did you find your tenants? Some sites charge $200 for posting rental ads. Thanks.
  8. Yes, it's definitely better to get your wife to talk to her about this sensitive topic. Next time when I bump onto her hanging laundry, I would quickly grab my container to water my plants at the corridoor and start off with a small talk. (Smile) "Weather is very hot recently, good for drying clothes right?" "Haha but my plants seem to be dying from the heat" (And other craps) (When I see her begin to relax and chat happily, I will approach her with the topic.) (Smile) "Erm I have something to discuss with you. My parents are very traditional and superstitious people. They are not comfortable when they see your undies facing my door direction. U know lah, old people are very sensitive about things like undies. They have been nagging to me about this issue. I already tried to convince them that it posts no harm but they still can't stop nagging. (Pause) I wonder if it's possible to hang the undies in another direction please?"
  9. You are lucky that your seller's agent still submitted your resale application and didn't block your sale. One seller's agent threatened us that he would block our sale if we refused to pay him 1% commission. In the end, we engaged an agent to represent us and paid her 1% commission. At least, I know her stand will be on our side instead of the seller. I support the law of 1 property agent can only represent 1 side in the sale. Hope it will be implemented soon.
  10. Hey u brought up a very valid point. There's risk that our tenants use our address on their NRICs to loan $$ from AH LONG? If I'm you, I will probably follow tenants to police posts to change their addresses to play safe.
  11. I also think it's better for u to take bank loan. 1. Can keep cash proceeds. 2. No. of MOP years is less. 3. Bank's interest rate now is less than HDB's one (2.6%)
  12. This happens only when you make a loss on your house sale. That means the sale proceeding isn't enough to cover the $$ u owe to the bank and interest u owe to the CPF board. If u make profit on your house sale (regardless of bank or hdb loan), you will get back the profit in cash after returning $$ u owe to the bank and interest u owe to the CPF board.
  13. True. But some people break the rule to earn more $$$ mah.
  14. So much "politics" all for the sake of $$$$. That may explains why I noticed some agents dislike my hubby (buyers) talking to the sellers directly. It will be even more prominent in private property transactions.
  15. Maybe someone who wants to open a "foreign worker domitary" for the 2 IRs? It can be renovated to include more rooms.
  16. It's Hitachi SF80KJ, topload, 8kg. Thanks in advance for helping me check out its price (including delivery fee)! Sumsung's 8kg topload machine is $439. Hehe I rather pay $10 more for a Japan brand although I know the machines are not made in Japan. I did a brief online search on LG, Sumsung and Hitachi washing machine reviews. Sumsung and LG machines use less water and electricity than Hitachi one, so they help to save on the utility bill. LG machines seem to break down more often than the other two brands. I was quite shocked to read that there are 2 forumers' grandmas, whose Hitachi washing machines are still working after 40 years. And there are a handful of other forumers, whose Hitachi washing machines are still working after 10 years. Above are my humble opinions. I may be wrong, as I didn't do readings on the different models. I think every brand has its pros and cons. It really depends on your individual preference and budget. I'm going for a cheap cheap washing machine, so I'm looking at only Asia brands.
  17. See this http://www.asiaone.com/Business/My%2BMoney...305-202608.html 1 million dollar HDB! This is coming too fast to Spore leh.
  18. I'm thinking of getting a Hitachi washing machine (8kg) next week. The lowest quote I received so far was Mega Discount Store, $450. May I know how much did Kong Tai quote u? Thanks.
  19. Wonder if these owners will offer bribes to their next door neighbours to shut their mouths up? I better not sabotage those old folks who have to sublet their flats in order to survive.
  20. That will work hehe Everyone loves $$$$.
  21. Last year end, I took a fixed rate bank loan with 2-year lock in. 1st year 1.99%, 2nd year 1.99%, then 3.75% I was worried that FED would increase interest rate around 4th quarter 2010, so I took fixed rate one. But of course floating rate loans charge lower interests.
  22. Very interesting shape. It's my 1st time seeing such a floor plan. Hope you find your ID soon!
  23. Is your friend's house opposite any mrt station? 2nd floor also needs to pay 30K COV
  24. All the movers know how to dismantle & assemble beds. You can call up any mover to do it. I got a mover to move my queen size bed & mattress before.
