  1. can I have his the contractor contacts?
  2. Did mine with Ideal house, Kevin Yap. Very honest and polite chap. Post-Reno touch ups like handle and hinges replaced fuss free. Can come view my house for his work since I'm on maternity.
  3. Was looking for an EM at lower floor and at a preferred area. Shown one unit and took it. Paid 50K since everyone in property guru is looking for 100-150K in that area. Pretty satisfied, only downside is, it's not on the first floor.
  4. Think my agent did most of the transaction for me. Our unit is rare, almost as big as a five room, plus we did our renovation like a year ago. Fully air conditioned just that it's laminated flooring throughout and the place has very limited amenities. So my priority in getting the new flat is that it has to be close to amenities and bus stop and downtown east. The condition was average, we're retaining the living room flooring other than that it needs a major overhaul.

  6. Why... Thank you Photog!
  7. Hello there! I'm going to live in Pasir Ris and we share the same ID! Hehehe! I have the same island as yours but a few tweaks here and there.. I love your chairs and was wondering whether they can hold a sumo wrestler like my husband? Hahaha! Ok kidding. Care to share the price, cos was thinking of getting the ikea ones when I saw yours!
  8. Although I feel sorry that you had to go through what you did, I don't think it's fair to generalize the IDs. Did you do your homework before getting the ID? Do you mind sharing the name of your ID, perhaps we can somewhat avoid him? I think most of us who have gotten any of the Ks know that Kenneth is the boss and obviously, the IDs report to him. Wouldn't want to get my head on the chopping board, so thank you for helping me on what to expect. I hope with your word of caution, none of us will go through your painful experience. Cheers!
  9. Today, I went to buy lightings and fan for my ceiling. I stopped by a store called prestige Lightings that is along Poh Joo, Jalan Besar and intended to buy downlights and was so happy that I could find some that was as cheap as $12. I had to buy 10 pieces and the shopkeeper had to ransacked his whole shop to get me those 10 pieces. While he was searching, I looked around and decided to give him some 'business' and bought an alpha ceiling fan 56" with remote at $210, after much negotiation. He came up with 3 pieces of square-shaped downlights and when I inspect the goods, some of it has cracks and some of it have holes on the aluminium band. Decided to drop the idea of buying them and left the fan at their shop and tell them we'll come back again for it. Walked a few shops down to budget lightings, found an elmark with the same price and of better aesthetic features. I went back to Prestige to ask for a refund and he went berserk by saying, "You wasted my time and now you want to waste my money?? Goods are not returnable!! Take yr fan and get out of my shop!" I almost die in shock. The fan didn't even leave his store and was practically slapping my forehead with his attitude and my stupidity. He's the owner of the shop and called himself Jack Neo's brother. Thought of giving his small shop some business, thinking that we can somehow bargain the price but after the assault, we left the apek store hastily. For timid couples like me and my husband please don't patronize the shop. We finally purchase the rest of our lightings at Budget Lightings by a young guy named Robert. He's patient and very courteous but still keksim. Sigh.
  10. Wah... Moogi, yr experience that bad har? I can't tell you of the carpentry yet, still too soon to tell because they are still in the midst of renovating, so far from plastering to rewiring to piping, everything is done pretty well. The overlaying tiles of toilets, is good. Grouting is ok. Is your ID, Kevin or Kenneth? By far, the Ks review are not all that bad. Anyway, when I figure out how to upload some pictures, I'll definitely do so.
  11. Hi! I'm currently using Kevin too. Our reno is supposedly ending in 20th August but it seemed it going to finish earlier than expected (prolly end July?) I bought my flat 2 years ago and only now, we decide to reno the whole flat. I can say that it's in a pretty bad shape and particularly impressed by his plastering work which was recently completed. Anyone whom like to have a view can just leave me a msg. We're living in Pasir Ris St 11.
  12. Hi Umaisarah, how's yr home makeover progress? Hope all is well..
  13. Hi Umaisarah! Welcome to renotalk, you have a nice kitchen. Very traditional and holds a lot of character. Looking forward for yr updates.
  14. i saw the neighbour's flat toilet, quite poor thing ley.. The pipes and their ceiling got popsicles appearing quite poor thing. Its not just the pipe, but the whole thing ceiling.. We'll see how la when the hdb guy come over to my place tomorrow..
  15. It's ok, i'll find out more tomorrow when the HDB come over to view my house.
  16. Thanks therat, the toilet was actually renovated by the previous owner so it's not the original type. How will HDB then decide, do you know?
  17. I just received a call this morning from HDB that the floor below mine was complaining that their toilet's ceiling is leaking. So the officer was explaining that there's a problem with the water membrane and so on and so forth. I haven't even start with renovation yet, and not planning to until 2 years after. Does anyone know what are the choices am I left with besides sharing the cost of my neighbour of plastering their ceiling?
  18. Hello everyone! I noticed that there's no entry for Pasir Ris hdb/condo owners here.. Decided to open a topic here for 'Persians' so we can start exchanging infos on nearby Sales or important events. Such as, I've received a call from HDB asking me to poll for the liftupgrading in person. I didn't know that they stopped using the old method of sending letters. Another thing is, would this mean that it gives us an opportunity to buy access area? Especially ones with mini balcony...
  19. It makes you ponder but at the same time the credibility of the contractor is questionable as well. Ngunadi, have you consider changing the doors of yr cabinet instead of painting, who knows you might be able to get the same price he quoted.
  20. I moved 7 times before i was married, therefore, im almost an expert in packing and unpacking. Hahaha! There are some occasion where we had to source for contractors. (last time IDs are not a big hit) What i really buay tahan is the part where the contractor wants to change piping fm copper to stainless steel. We succumbed to the last contractor to change the pipes and now, my mom thinks its a waste of money. Now if i see contractors that wants to change my piping for the sake of aesthetic wise, i run far and fast. Obviously, you can always paint them but of course these are my thoughts.
  21. i think its personal preference altogether but, from my own point of view I prefer top loading machine because front loaders are troublesome to me and theres a rim of rubber in front loaders that gets loosen after probably a year of washing and mould will appear in due time. On top of that, top loaders dry yr clothes better than front loaders.
  22. Yupe first flat but we didn't take the near family grant because like not much difference. Yeah we painted the house, bought the most vital necessities. My aunt always say that, no newly weds begin marriage without problem. Just gritting through, so far so good.
  23. Yupedidoo!! Now have to wait and recce for contractors/IDs because the COV beyond our budget. The hoosband is not the sort who likes to take up loans because he got a lot thing to say la. List oso neverending. So we slowly, slowly...
