  1. the $14 staiinless steel dustbin from Sia Huat sale. inside of dustbin: the ugly trunking for air con...argghhh!!!
  2. Air con is up already. Small 3 room flat, the gain city guys finished in slightly over 2 hours. holes they hacked were patched up and area is clean. overall quite satisifed. We went to Sia Huat warehouse sale and bought quite a few items. Spent $127 there, realised we had not budgeted for these miscellaneous stuff...the best buy must be the dustbins...will try to load the pics later. If you have not been there, faster go while stocks last!!! http://www.greatdeals.com.sg/2010/05/sia-h...warehouse-sale/
  3. hi ossify, can you share how your air con trunking is being run? i only see the trunking beside your window...then no more already...haha think your cabinet would look better if there is some light on the top, like some light bouncing off the top of the wardrobe. Can help to minimise the shadow due to ceiling fan also..
  4. wow, i think its nice.. i also getting robina...your installation swee swee?
  5. my friend also did the same for his friend. But his friend damm shameless, do finish reno then say no $, can pay in instalments? Haii...what can he do..? the only drawback is that people will take advantage of jaskel's effort and he may one day lose heart in it...i wish you luck jaskel!
  6. then ask Finance Minister to vaccuum! haha logically the person who is "sub-contracted" to do the job should decide. For us, we would still get irobot later so that we can have more time for each other, think june got some IT show. me also insisted on front load washer (they say less crumpled clothes) as i had volunteered for the ironing sub-contract.
  7. choo chiang rowell has a display showing many kinds of switches and sockets outside their shop... can stand there slowly see, no people disturb. yeap wires can get from all electrical shops, choo chiang sells them by bundles of 100m each. TV wire can buy based on per metre price. i called a few shops to ask about MK switches, Choo chiang is the cheapest. However, if you got any lobang, can always share on the forum to benefit more people! cheers!
  8. oh jaskel, keep some only ok? dun keep too much, so that end consumers can benefit.. i actually thought the frame colour is abit dated...but if the owner likes it, then no problems.
  9. the wooden thing was so hard to forget..haha actually we liked the place, just that we not very sure whether the wall between the toilets can be hacked. another thing was the beam which we didnt like. other than that, the flat is good, corner and quite... so in the end ventured to get 3NG instead...
  10. oh yes, i have "copied" your platinum teak robina flooring as well for the living room. look even more similar! oh ya, we have actually view your flat previously as we were looking for a house within holland. glad that you have transformed it totally...haha i can still remember the super big tv they have in the living room!
  11. all the uncommon stuff are baby's idea. Haha.. eh i tot u using your utility room as an office? then you got study room and office ah... kids...depend on fate..
  12. wah this is not basic ba...so extensive... u are doing so much carpentry, might want to consider a direct carpenter instead? btw, u sure u want to put laminate flooring in balcony? Sure get wet one...unless u never open the window, which is unlikely...
  13. uh yeah, i agree not nice... but how come they will do wrongly? I thought would see some sample before they come and do up the window?
  14. oh we dismantled the WC in the MBR to make way for the shower screen. No door in MBR toilet. we both use netbooks at home, so no need to allocate space for computers. Just need powerpoints (we got alot of them, ) common room would eventually be our kid's room so i am trying to keep it as empty as we could. Just put books, table and some chairs there.
  15. We have made so many changes to arrive at this final layout....realised we didnt put this up! may change the WIW area to industrial shelvings...thinking of doing a "retail like" changing room, like those with a mirror and curtains... as you can see, the common bedroom is left pretty much untouched. no plans to use it for anything yet, maybe keep our books ba... but yet to figure out how...
  16. so one kdk fan is like $135? Singapore seling for $160. You could have brought a few more back to sell to cover your transport costs!
  17. nice! but you don't plan to have any fans? putting a fan there would almost always spoil the look... mirror is nice...but $780 sounds expensive...if its just for display, maybe you can check out dama.com.sg they have acrylic mirrors, 4ft by 8ft. tink would be much cheaper?
  18. haha...ok...i guess use cheaper for bathroom is fine...even if its a small project u will take?
  19. wah u guys are kitchen freaks! haha! so much storage! we trying to do as little as possible for the time being, see if we can resist the temptation of buying so many stuff! think for the time being, should be sufficient for 2 people...
  20. oh yea solid surface is nice also...initially i wanted it also, but i saw s/s at starbucks...that was it. haha ohh video...we are too shy for our faces and voices to appear... i guess it would be something like that heineken advertisment...?
  21. ooohhh.... dupont isit from corian? might want to do solid surface at a later stage in the bathroom...
  22. my friend's house uses this. They got it for free last time when it was first launched. no issue with using rain shower. they also recommended it to me...but i paid $128 for it... its said to have 8l storage, i doubt would have any issues ba...if not would have been slammed on renotalk le.. quite a few reno blogs use it. like fftw..
  23. oh no contacts needed, the price list is from the blum's catalogue. Can go to their ubi showroom. very fun to play with!
  24. 16ft? omg...tats alot...gallery style like ossify? quote i got for s/s top with sink for 8ft is $1.3k leh...would be cheaper without sink...can squeese your id! haha.. you could also do without backsplash it you are not cooking on that side of the kitchen, save costs... can try if you really like the look...countertop is one of the stuff which is harder to replace, compared to washer, fridge, furniture...so we decided to go for it and buy cheaper furnishing...like the free shoe rack! haha!
  25. yeah scratches will appear, but baby says these scratches will make the stainless steel look aged and she likes it...haha how much were you quoted? Contractors generally quote like $162 per foot run with a built in sink and back splash.. solid surface is $100-$140 already... say $50 more per foot run, for a 8 ft kitchen (3room flat mah) = $400. save a bit here and there, still can make it within budget. oh have been waiting for the air con people to come to mess up my house with the ugly trunking!
