  1. which website u bought frm? can PM me? if it's less than S$400 including shipping, i can seriously consider liao. tks.
  2. marsh, whr u buy those bathroom slippers/sandals? which type r u using? i'm looking for those cloth, covered-toes type tt we usually see in those more expensive hotel rooms. i think IKEA used to sell but not anymore. any idea where to get them now?
  3. hw much u paid for the irobot? which version u bought?
  4. those aircon brackets are suppose to be concealed wif gypsum box-up. ur aircon installer didnt do for you? it's a standard thing for some installers. my previous a/c installed by Gain City was not concealed just like yours, but current one installed by Imperial was boxed-up by them. i didn't request for it. Their surveyor told me it's standard.
  5. normal bulb = screw in/plug in and switch on. LED bulb = need to connect to transformer, and transformer wired to switch. so if u're thinking of just swapping your old bulbs wif LED bulbs, it's not that straight-forward. typical fluorescent tube = need ballast T4, T5 tubes = built-in ballast LED tubes = still very new. dunno much abt them yet, but i presume they'll also nd some sort of transformer, whether external or built-in.
  6. yea, standard practise is ABS trimming for the doors only. the rest of the cabinets will not hv ABS trimming unless customer specify and is willing to pay for it. one easy way out is to use a white paint marker and "paint" over the edges. but white is difficult to match. some white laminates are not pure white, but a little towards cream, or off-white. but those paint markers dun hv such varieties of white. only 1 pure white.
  7. oh? but it's meant for marble and granite. can also use on solid surface top?
  8. wat is it? my black solid surface top also got scratched the 1st day i moved in. scratch lines are just as obvious as yours. mine also got fading. i suspect caused by the cleaner i used. i'm using the spray-type liquid CIF. i think the mild chemicals in it will "eat" into the solid surface.
  9. i did it too. and even though i drive, i still only shortlisted units that were no more than 800m away frm the nearest MRT station. just in case i stop driving, or nx time got pple stay wif me but dun drive, and in case i wanna sell in future.
  10. facing Chinese Garden park itself? around St 13 side? ur view wld be very nice. look out to the lake in Chinese Garden. i'm at St 32, facing Parc Oasis. tt means ur monthly season parking is cheaper than those purely MSCP. cos u hv open together wif MSCP, they cannot charge full MSCP rate. dun think there will be plans to build any MSCP at my side. unless they willing to close off 1 of the open carparks while building the MSCP. if they do, sure not enough parking while its closed. my side at nite oredi almost full.
  11. Yes, their other outlets are also having this 15% discount on selected 3M products. Not just Home-Fix, NTUC also. I suspect this is a 3M promo so any authorised 3M reseller shld hv the discount.
  12. hey, whr r u in Jurong East? my journey is so similar to urs. i moved frm Commonwealth to Jurong East, skipped ur Clementi....lol. Been staying here for 1 mth nw. Can't say tt i miss my previous place. It's so convenient here. Only thing I miss would be the multi-storey carpark. I only hv open-air carpark here, and it's wet when it rains, and it's super hot when it's sunny. Both make me wet. One when I get out, and the other when i get in....hahaha. Of cos, the heat also kills my car's interior.
  13. yours is a 4-rm leh. 24k is a gd budget for a 3-rm, but super super tight for a 4-rm. 3 and 4 rm got a lot of difference. flr area at least 20 sq metres. at least 1 extra window, min 1 extra door, min 2 extra walls, etc. 30k is a good amount to start wif for a 4-rm. and this wld probably only get u a basic, simple reno. and reno is crucial. dun scrimp and save until ur contractor use cheap materials and low-skilled workers to complete ur reno. if need to, take a reno loan and pay it off over a period of 3yrs. heck, take 5yrs if u're gg to stay there for long. but 2-3yrs is a gd tenure for a typical 12k-20k reno loan.
  14. oh? ur's is Electrolux? the hob looked like the famous Rinnai inner flame hob. the silvery edges wif the glass top.
  15. den u're gg to pay a lot for ur WIW. 17ft is no joke. when i was at the design stage in my reno, i was worried abt insufficient storage space, looking at the design my ID proposed. but after moving in and putting everything into the available cabinets, i realised i gt more than enough storage space. wat happened was during the packing before my moving, i threw away a lot of un-used or un-necessary stuff. u can't imagine hw much stuff i threw away. And these are nt things tt i need. they were "junk" tt i collected over the years. it's those "ah-maybe-i'll-need-them-someday" kind of things. Those in my generation will know cos a lot of our moms wld hv kept these stuff and unknowingly taught us not to anyhow throw things away. the amount of "junk" i threw away filled up 6 bags of those ultra-large, thick plastic thrash bags. not those flimsy black ones tt most ppl use nowadays. and honestly, i haven't missed anything tt i've thrown away. on top of throwing, i also gave away 3 bags of clothes tt i had hardly worn, and i still hv 1 bag full of other bags (haversack, slingbags etc) wif me here. maybe u wanna go thru ur clothes and see if there's any tt u think u can give away. generally, clothes tt we only wear once every 6 mths shldn't be kept. tt's wat i learnt frm The Oprah Winfrey show on those episodes tt they deal wif pple who keep too many things. not suggesting tt u're someone who keeps too much but 17ft WIW will really kill ur reno budget.
  16. ok, my ID also mentioned the Magic Sponge, but until nw, i have no bl**dy idea wat it is and where to get it. I can't visualise it so perhaps i've seen it before or walked right past it without knowing what it was. Can someone kindly post a pic of it? The REAL one and not imitation? Tks. How does the grout sealer keep the grout lines clean for a longer period? i thot the sealer is just to protect the grout against degradation and dissolution back into its powder form?
  17. Bishan shld fetch good price, so u shldn't hv to wait too long to get ur dream semi.
  18. wow...8 doors! perhaps a walk-in wardrobe would be more suitable for u? 8 doors is too many a door for a wardrobe i think.
  19. i didnt notice the similarity earlier, but nw tt "lazybum9" mentions it, i realised tt the colours i used in my kitchen is exactly the same as urs, dex bro. white, black wif tt brown wood grain. except tt in my case, the floor is white, one side's cabinet is totally white, and the other side is mainly black, wif a few panels in the wood grain laminate.....
  20. oh crap...i wasn't around when they opened the box. They probably either threw them away or mine dun hv. I dun remember seeing it, though i saw the box. i'm not using a Rinnai hob though. Too ex for me. I took the Fujioh combo. My reno has been completed oredi and i've oredi moved in, though now still doing rectification works. Tiler just did some work today (oops, yesterday 03/01) and painter coming tmr (04/01). hopefully, he'll be the last and den tt's it.
  21. i've been thinking....for those of us using white tiles....instead of trying to clean the grout lines, why not use a white paint pen and "paint" over the grout lines? is that possible? if it is, den i guess this is the fastest and easiest way, yes?
  22. hey dex, congrats! very nicely done up. whr did u get those white, stove covers? i shld get a couple for my cooker....hehe...
  23. hmm....if this was my floorplan, and i'm staying alone......i would: 1) maintain living/kitchen wall (refer to Pt 2 for reason) 2) hack walls between living/bedroom 2/store, and combine all 3 spaces into 1 huge living space. Tt's why i'll keep the living/kitchen wall so that the living doesn't become way too big to present a design nightmare. 3) hack MBR/Bedrm 3 wall to combine both rooms and make a bigger MBR. 4) if really need storeroom, den partition a small storeroom frm the new, bigger MBR. New storeroom shld be at left corner of new MBR, wif the storeroom door facing the access balcony. 5) Wif a bigger MBR, i will also den extend the Master toilet, "eat" into a bit of space and designate this space as the dry area of the new Master toilet. This way, i hv more room to play wif for the toilet and hence, be able to create a luxurious bathroom for my "Zen". If need 2 bedrooms, den i will maintain Bedroom 3 and still go ahead wif Pts 1 and 2. the current MBR is quite a gd size anyway, and the toilet doesn't look very small, so shld still be able to play ard wif it's design. As for a storeroom under these circumstances, i will create one just outside Bdrm 3, wif the storeroom extending frm the left wall all the way to the entrance of Bdrm 3, thus creating a corridor outside the entrances of MBR & Bdrm 3. This will give me a squarish hall to play wif, plus by using the right lighting in the newly-created corridor, i can give the entrances to the MBR & Bdrm 3 a nice, luxurious, "private apartment" feel. Yes, all these will cost a lot, but i'd rather spend more, take a reno loan etc, and create a dream home for long-term stay. Oh crap, aft taking another look at d orig floorplan, just realised can't hack storeroom to create new, bigger hall cos of the beams. Den i'll scrap the corridor idea and extend the storeroom entrance to the beam, thus creating a T-shaped hall. My current hall is a bit similar and i can tell u, it's a really big, nice, airy hall for my 3-rm unit.
  24. yes, acevin, is right. instead of using extension cord, which would be ugly, u can get ur electrician to remove the plug and extend the wiring directly. i did the same thing for my TV.
  25. they hv different sizes of transformers for diff lengths of the LED strips. why do u nd to hv different transformers for individual switches? depending on the wiring, different combinations can be made. i have 6 separate strips, 3 transformers, 3 switches, in the following combi. 1) 3metres + 3metres, tied to 1 transformer, controlled by 1 switch. 2) 1.5m + 1.5m, tied to 1 transformer, controlled by 1 switch. 3) 1.5m + 0.75m, tied to 1 transformer, controlled by 1 switch. Original design was to tie (2) and (3) to just 1 switch, but i wanted individual control, so amended design to individual switches. If it had stayed in the original design, den i would have only needed 1 transformer, and 1 switch for (2) + (3). So as u can see, depending on your requirements, a lot of customisation can be done. These LED strips tt i'm using are super economical. When I switched off everything n only turned on these strips, i noticed the PUB electrical meter outside my house was hardly moving. And if u use warm white, it's a direct replacement for cove lighting/mood lighting fixtures.
