  1. As mentioned in several of my posts, my ID is very reliable guy and never fail to turn up to inspect & check the installations. Ceiling guy came this week, and you see my ID again...busy checking details...
  2. Items bought these 2 days: Last evening, confirmed the fabric selection for the 4 bedrooms. Total damage is $1,750, from a shop at Balestier Plaza. The bulk of this goes to the day & night curtains, full length, for my MBR. Most expensive is the day curtains... Before the confirmation, I have called up a few curtain makers I met at Expo. One of them had given me a quote but I just don't like the fabric. Aiya.... deciding on how to mount the curtain tracks for my MBR is also problematic due to false ceiling and the electrical cable trunking above the windows. Luckily the ceiling guys and my hardworking ID were all available to solve the problem with the 'curtain' lady and her partner! As for me, I am busy clicking away......as I am fortunate that we choose Donny for our extreme home makeover who is taking care of solving all headaches for me Went back during lunchtime to confirm the laundry system, TPS 330 / 25" type. Damage is $788. They will install next week after ceiling is painted. Expensive!
  3. OH oh....my son's girlfriend will definitely not like it! I will keep this in mind & probably have to put something opaque on the door panel. Thank you so much for bringing this up!
  4. ouchh....I have read her thread and it is really unfortunate for her to sustain bad & deep cut. Hope she has fully recovered by now! I have s shower screen inside my tiny shower area, made of tempered glass. I guess I have to put protective film to prevent accidentally knocking onto it and cause it to shatter, since my shower area is really really very small! For the sliding door, not sure what material but the mirror is glued onto the PVC sliding door. I have a picture to show and will upload later.
  5. The gas water heater is smaller than the water storage tank I used to have for 25L. Showing here is the full view of the gas water heater and the pipings....in our service balcony
  6. Progress photographs: Delivery man seen here uploading the materials from the back entrance, while front main entrance was already flooded with aircon trunking & insultation materials.... ....also at the cramped common corridor where the Lift is currently upgrading in progress for our block. aircon guys at work in the MBR.... The guy in blue is the contractor installing the mirror sliding door at MBR toilet. ....and the senior aircon guy at work in one of the bedroom
  7. Progress photographs - continued PVC bi-fold doors installed at common bath & toilet. FOC, included in reno package from my ID's firm. Can imagine the amount of ceiling works for our extreme makeover!! My house was flooded with materials yesterday.... ....and the aircon piping installation began yesterday. The aircon boss called me in the morning and asked me to check their materials which they supplied according to what I have insisted!! So, went back during my lunch time and saw these.... large chunky casings... Armaflex Class 0 insulators
  8. Progress photographs - 5 & 6 January 2011 False ceilings installation started on 5-January-2011 False ceiling design at the new Bedroom 4 The false ceiling at dining area ......and completed yesterday
  9. Hi, CoffeeMan Thank you for your concern. You are really my si-fu on reno works too! The copper pipe is for the gas inlet to the heater. My ID told me that the painter will paint the copper gas pipes, but not the stainless steel water pipes. I changed from storage water heater to gas water heater to save energy (cheaper using gas than electric), especially the children always forgotten to switch it off after they bathe, and most important is the instant supply of hot water. When we used the storage water heater, we installed a switch with timer, but the plastic cap for the switch breaks frequently. We were like changing 2-3 times over a year (each cost $29.90 each). After some consideration, decided to change over to gas water heater. During our renovation, as mentioned in earlier post, I have to ask the Power Supply people to come and dismantle the gas pipe which was obstructing the wall tiling. I was told that once I get the pipe removed, I have installed the gas meter inside the house, per new SCDF regulations. Hence, as seen in this picture, the gas meter will now be installed inside our house (at our service balcony) and cause abit of inconvenience because I have to send in the meter readings ourself.
  10. Both my friend & Mr L concurred that the minimum requirement is that both electrical cable and & data cable must be separated. I did a CSI scanning through the bags of debris and found this .....I guess this is trunking used for laying the 2 types of cables. Further, the electrician is aware that I asked for Power Supply testing and certain requirements have to be met. He therefore knows well that he cannot mixed up the cables.
  11. Progress - yesterday 04-Jan-2011 MBR Toilet - WC bowl installed. Common Toilet - WC bowl installed Common Toilet - Sink Cabinet. Not that ugly as I thought. So decided to get another one for the toilet @ MBR City Gas came to install the Rinnai Gas Water Heater (the green tint on the right side is due to window reflection). The pipings are well connected, not that unsighty as I thought! All accessories in stainless steel material are not installed until chemical washing is done. Very thoughtful of my ID and the plumber.
  12. Dear RimBlock I sincerely thank you from deep bottom of my heart for your valuable advices and constructive feedback to the 'rain shower' issue arisen from the beam hindrance. As much as I like to adopt your suggestion, but at this peak period of time when the contractors are all so busy rushing with handover to meet CNY, I guess there is little I can do now, to do the modification. Even my ID had to BEG the the plumber to return to add piping for hot water to my wash basin! How I wish I have somebody as capable as you to rely upon, giving me all the guidance.
  13. wow...the culprit must be Star 2 at NW, the head of household!
  14. Mirror is just mirror, face anyway you like, place anywhere you like! Some would say that mirror cannot face bed, window, door entrance, and so on....Is this true or myth? Take my house for example, my ID had designed 2 wardrobes with mirror facing my children's bed; I am not particular about mirror facing their beds, but my children believe it and for psychological reason, I have to ask our ID to remove the mirror on the wardrobe, following the children's wish. So, I guess it has to do with pyschological effect - if you feel good, then place mirror anywhere according to your wish! If you don't feel good, then remove it, lor!
  15. I learnt feng shui, Mian Xiang, Bazi (including his latest BaZi Profiling) & date selection from Joey Yap of Mastery Academy, and further Fengshui, advanced BaZi & ZiWeiDouShu from Vincent Koh. Learning is easy but the hardest part is practicing & interpreting correctly...so I am still learning from you all!
  16. The only choice now is go for your option #2 - sharing with my children! You can see how cramped my shower area when the 2 plumbers were there adding the extra hot water pipes to the wash basin. The beam & the pipes....my dream shattered by these culprits!!! On the hot pipe issue, because of my fickle mind, I nearly broke my ID's nerves & patience yesterday!!! What to do? I am still his customer..... I know making last minute request is difficult for them to accommodate especially when our plumber had completed the running of the pipes, and at this peak season when all subcons are busy with tight schedule.
  17. Still possible to place stove facing north but depending on location. Facing & location are 2 different thing.
  18. thanks for correcting the error, this is the problem typing on the small iPhone screen & my mind must be sleepy! Stove placed at NW is fire burning at Heaven Gate!
  19. The floor tiles are in dark shade of grey, the picture does not do justice to the actual tiles color. Infact, the wall & flooring are now complete and there is a picture of my master toilet in one of the post here, and I like the effect.
  20. Qi is a natural life force which is believed to permeate in our environment. The life force or energy is dispersed by the wind and gathers at the boundary of water. If the external landform within the vicinity of our house is conducive, Qi will be able to enter the house through the door at the main entrance of the house. Our home is regarded as a container of Qi. As I am not the originator of FengShui, just a student interested in acquiring such knowledge, you will note that I refrain from answering queries relating to theory or articles written decades ago by its origin founders. You can google and find them using search engine. I do have course notes / workbooks, and these are proprietary info / document from my master and not for me to copy and paste here.
  21. This is what the electrician left behind for Mr L to terminate!! Please give me your advice and I will not hesitate to confront the electrician to get it right, or re-run the cat 6 cable if need be, before the false ceiling is up.
  22. Mr L has not seen how the electrician runs the cat 6 cable yet! He came, passed me the materials, explained to the electrician and left. He will be coming over these few days, and let's see what he has to comment on the cable done up by the electrician.
  23. The specialist Mr L is a friend of my IT expert, and Mr L works for a company who does cat 6 certification and he helps to supply to me all the materials (cat 6 cables, FJ faceplates, etc etc) and giving advices to our electrician. Mr L himself will do the testing & certification to ensure the cat 6 cables are installed properly. Ofcourse, he has the equipment for testing too. I don't think there is a need for me to get the report from him, as Mr L is doing me and my friend a favour to ensure that our electrician did the right thing, right way. The ceiling with spalling concrete indicated is Out of the shower area. Can only mount exactly underneath the beam.....so this will not achieve the effect / joy of having rain shower. Also, I am quite tall....1.65m, so my head will be just inches away from the shower rose.
  24. Verdict today: Confirmed 100%!! My dream is shattered! Have to listen to the plumber's advice...gave up hope on having rain shower for my master bathroom!!! It is all because of the overhead beam running across exactly at the centre of shower bay. I managed to find this picture taken during the demolition of wall tiles in late November 2010:
  25. Update on our hardworking ID....busy working over the weekend holiday period...a very responsible man indeed! If he had not called me up to clarify certain issues, I won't know that he is there at site most of the time coordinating & inspecting the works.
