  1. No, the knob on the right side happened to be pointing to the West for my stove location! As you mentioned in my new post 'Stove & Gua number", knob facing is based on your back direction! If I stand facing South, my right hand side is West. So, this is where my knob is located for West people like me. Then, if the knobs are on the left, it will be for EAST group people. In the same standing direction facing South, those knobs at the centre are for for East Group people too, as it will be North direction for the knobs.
  2. ...and finally but not the least, my Master Bedroom! Master Bedroom - Sliding door wardrobe. Centre piece on the door is frosted glass (can see through) Master Bedroom - the bed behind the wardrobe. There is a sliding laminate door at the entrance of toilet to shield the water dripping noise. (I can't sleep with noise and lights, so extra wooden door in addition to the glass sliding door inside the toilet, which picture is showing bi-fold door). I will ask ID to fabricate the headboard, but not the bedframe as seen, which I will buy Queen size only.
  3. Bedroom 2 - for the youngest son. Bedroom 3 - for the second son. The green feature wall is given 'free' by ID, to box up the recess area. For the same bedroom 3 showing the wardrobe hiding behind the door. Bedroom 4 - the living room converted, for the elder son. For the same Bedroom 4, with the TV feature wall. We may remove the open book shelves if the frosted glass panel is re-designed. The platform for the King size mattress will have cove lights at the step below. Noticed the side board on the left of platform bed? Elder son is used to sleep leaning against wall! No wall for him to lean, so construct a side board for his bed.
  4. Finally have time to meet up with ID this afternoon to view the 3D drawings. There will changes made to his ideas, but overall I am very satisfied with the colour scheme and layout design. The Living Room with the TV console. The glass block may provide some lights through, but may not provide privacy for the Bedroom. ID has come out with alternative ideas to replace a 2 feet wide frosted glass with shelvings. Let's see what my children comment when they see this drawing for now. The glossy white kitchen cabinet - stove & sink area. May add 2 pieces of frosted glass door above the stove. As I seldom cook at home, will not be installing the cooker hood. Moreover, even if I cook at home, it will be simple stry fry or steam cooking. Children are very health conscious, so don't like Deep Fry stuff! Therefore, I do not need to buy the hood which ended up as 'white elephant', just like my old kitchen hood which was 'idling' in the kitchen and never use at all! In place, ID will install a pelmet below the 2 glass door to prevent fume from sipping through the door gaps while cooking. Kitchen viewed from another angle showing the window opening to let light in to the dining / living room. Will be changing the door of bottom cabinet to drawers with Blum runners. Kitchen - another view seen with the store room (which wall was knocked down and install 2 sliding doors - frosted / opaque to hide the junks inside the shelves). You will also notice the Foyer into the kitchen, which ID selected different colour of floor tiles.
  5. I guess it is a typo error. It should be JY who is from the Mastery Academy, or Yap Global Consultancy.
  6. He has several books written on Property such Feng shui for Home Buyers - Interior, and another book for Interior. For the latter, you will notice that he demarcate all important rooms based on 8 mansion theory.
  7. The difference between the 2 masters is that: JY practised classical feng shui - no placement of items as he does not want our house to end up like "Chinese restaurants!". As for Lilian Too, she is more towards 'Taoist'? She emphasised alot on hanging trinkets, ornaments, etc. I don't fancy these stuff although I have initially bought some symbolic items from her outlet at Vivo City.
  8. Hi, CoffeeMan You are right! I belong to West Group people. Hence, the knob must be on right side (west). This is the model which I will be buying soon. (EFH 4650, gas hob).
  9. Time really flies! After the hacking & demolition last Thurs & Friday, here are some updates for this week: Mosiac pattern for the master toilet. ID was trying to match the wall tiles and eventually selected this series. Gas Main Pipe in the Service Balcony which hinder the wall tiling. City Gas customer service is excellent! ID called me on 1-Dec around 2:00pm after spotted the problem with the gas pipe which run across the common toilet, affecting the wall tiling to full height. I called City Gas at about 4:30pm. Spoke to a lady called Daphne Tan, and she gave me her email address to send the pictures to her. She called me shortly and informed that Power Gas will be contacting me & it will be dismantled on the spot if possible. Next morning, Power Gas called and said they are coming to site from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. When I went home at 2:00pm, the pipe was also disconnected. The FSM told me that the entrance to kitchen cannot be larger than the Main Entrance. Hence, after hacking down the store room, the widen door width has to reduce. So, a tiny portion of wall is built to close-up the widen entrance, and to create a Foyer in the kitchen. (I will have the 3-D drawings this weekend, and will post them here.) Erection of New wall at Kitchen to separate service balcony, and low wall support for sink: Door frame standby for installation:
  10. Hi, bepgof, You seemed to have vast knowledge in Chinese metaphysics. 8 mansion has no time dimension, hence it is used to arrange the auspicious location such as for bedrooms for long term. Else, for quick results, then flying stars theory is preferred.
  11. 10 heavenly stems = 5 elements x 2 polarity (yin & yang) 12 earthy branch = 12 zodiac signs
  12. I only buy books written by Joey Yap. You can read his book "Pure Feng Shui" which provides good tips and solutions to enhance career, wealth, health, relationship, etc.
  13. By flying stars theory. We are now in period 8, and the Wang Qi is Star 8, 9 and 1. I will also enhance the star 4 (for romance and academic endeavour) and star 6 (for power and authority). Of course, based on my Bazi, I will stay more frequent in my nobleman palace. For office, as someone mentioned before, unless you are the 'Tow Kay', else it is quite difficult to tap the good energy in the office. What I can do is to use 'micro' analysis and feng shui my desk. I divide my desk into 9 square, and just feng shui the way as I would for home. I placed my cup of water in the area suitable for Water. For preventing argument, for this year, I place red items in the south of my table, for example. Using 'Na Jia' theory, that is the advance 8-mansion theory, I can also fine-tuned the direction of my facing to a favouable direction.
  14. This will be a very 'dry' post, but good knowledge if forumers are interested in history: In the Chinese almanac, there are a number of cycles used to track the movement of time and space. Astrologically, we know there are 12 animals signs, based on elemental qualities of Wood, Fire, earth, Metal and Water. Together, they formed 60 years cycle (12 animals x 5 elements). This 60 year cycle repeats in sets of 3 Yuan to complete 180-year cycles. From a FS perspective, each Yuan is divided into 9 cycles of 20 years each, which most of us are familiar with YUN, which sets into motion the directional fortunes for any given year, based on a complex combination of 2 other ancient Chinese mathematical formulas, the HE TU (river map) which is based on the 8 trigrams of the YI Jing, and the LO SHU 9 palaces (which is often called the Magic Square in the West). These 2 maps, when properly utilised in conjunction with the movement of zodiac, can be used to predict events, design homes, manage floor plans, influence important decisions, and help with anything else that requires some foresight and direction. Now to your questions on Qi flow to water, Yes: Wind is the transporter of Qi, and Water is the accumulator of Qi. We cannot control the direction that wind comes and goes from a place, but water, being an accumulator of Qi, can direct the flow of Qi. We can build a water feature with a flow and it is this flows that directs the Qi to bring fortune or misfortune to the house. We have to be aware that there is a different between flow of water and a body of water.
  15. When there is more than one door in a house, always open & use one door at a time. This means I cannot have the main door and side door open at the same time to avoid causing confusion to Qi flow into the house. Further, I understand that some FSM have many doors and bedrooms in their house (of course landed property only). They will use the door which has the most favourable Wang Qi, and also choose to sleep in the room with auspicious Qi. For my home, I have to be mindful not to let the stove be seen from the side door. For kitchen, in feng shui, we are more concern with the location of stove and its facing. Looks like I have limited choice when comes to selecting hobs! I have to choose those hobs with knobs on the right side panel. I have just started a new topic on Stove & Gua number.
  16. Qi is a vital energy permeating our universe through cosmic interplanetary movements. The magnetic pulls of the planets exert a force which shapes the mountains, rivers and other land forms in our environment. According to tradition, Feng Shui is divided into two main streams: • San He • San Yuan These streams or systems have been existence for over 1500 years ago since the days of the Tang dynasty. Until today, the fundamental theories, formulas and principles behind the teaching have remained rooted and relatively unchanged. San He has to do with landscape and landforms in the environment. This system uses formulas to study the existence of Qi in the environment and how Qi influences the people living in the vicinity. It takes into consideration various structures be it natural or man-made such as buildings, roads and other contours of the land. The shape, size, distance, location and direction of the landform play a part in the quality of Qi. San Yuen is a system that measure how Qi changes with the passing of time and its effects on the residents of a property. This system uses formulas to calculate the types and quality of Qi that affect a property over a 20 year period. The time cycle comes about every 20 years starting from period 1 to period 9. We are currently in period 8 which runs from Feb 2004 to Feb 2024. The Qi in the environment vex and wane through the dynamic forces of time and a property’s fortune is thus governed by the changing cycles of Qi. And by extension, the luck of the residents can be predicted with the changing cycles of Qi through a mathematical formula. From this formula, the probable outcome and events affecting the lives of the residents are played out with amazing accuracy.
  17. Below are abstracted from Master Cecil Lee, Geomancy.Net Initial Opening of Door for the first time Procedure: 1) Door open by facilitator - ALL call out " PING AN FA CHAI ", then throw in PINEAPPLE (x1 pcs); then facilitator hand over the keys. 2) Prepare RICE and GREEN BEANS - Husband & wife (no outsiders except for own or family members can be around) to sprinkle ALL over the house - Mix the rice and green beans together. (Leave a "cup-full" of green beans - for later placement at the living room area). - During this procedure, make sure that no outsiders are inside the home. - For example, if it is a condo, the condo facilitator must leave the apartment. Own family members can remain eg. parents). - The purpose is to "sow" wealth into the apartment. Thus, it is not a matter of sprinkly lots of rice/beans but rather, try to sprinkle all over the apartment inclusive of the toilets/yard. 3) Prepare FA GAO (x2 pcs - can be brown, yellow or pink). If white colour FA GAO make sure that a circular red paper to be stuck/placed on top of the FA GAO. - Place one FA GAO in the middle of the room - while the other FA GAO with 3 oranges and 1 red packet with some money e.g. 2 dollars, 20 cents or 80 cents will do - on top of the kitchen stove. 4) Prepare 5 types of FRUITS such as ORANGE/ KUM, RED APPLES, RED GRAPES, BANANA and a single PINEAPPLE. AVOID: PEARS ONLY. - Grapes should preferably be purple or reddish. But not green or black coloured grapes. - for countable fruits such as oranges (Kum) & apples please purchase 5 each to be placed in the middle of the living room. For a bunch like banana, or grapes, no need to count. 5) Prepare TEA LEAVES (tie kuan yin) and place it in the middle of the living room. 6) Prepare COTTON WOOL, WATER and a DISH for germinating the GREEN BEANS and place it in the middle of the living room. Item# 3 - 6 : These are to be placed at the middle of the living room. 7) In addition, at the 4 corners of the LIVING & DINING room, place a set of 2x ORANGES + 1x Red Packet of 20cts - total : ORANGES x8 + RED PACKETs x4 8) In addition, at the KITCHEN, place FA GAO x1 and ORANGES x3 on the stove. - with an ang pow with 20cents or 2 dollars or even number notes/coins will do. - Do not sweep the floor on the three days of placement. For example, if placed on Saturday, only sweep the floor after Monday i.e. from next Tuesday onwards ONLY. - After this date, all the ang pow money can be used to purchase sweets or sweet-drinks for own family consumption. --- End of Ritual – Copyright Cecil Lee, Geomancy.Net

  19. My reno T-blog is here: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=35996 I will update and write on how I did the feng shui for my home and how I tap into the energy for the individual rooms of the children.
  20. Feng Shui adopts the principles of balance (Yin and Yang) to harness the natural life force or vital energies known as Qi which flow in the environment. Qi is created by the interaction of Yin and Yang which are opposing and complimentary forces in our Universe. Qi flows from the mountains (Yin) and gathers at the boundary of water (Yang). Our existence on earth seems to be controlled by external forces not fully comprehensible to the layman. The earth's gravity, electromagnetic fields and its planetary position relative to the sun has great influence on our quality of lives based on the energy cycles. Hence, the literal translation of Feng Shui is "Wind" and "Water", not Fortune Telling.
  21. I will be sharing in my T-blog on what and how I 'feng shu'd' our home for myself and my children.
  22. JTC built many blocks in the 1970s and quality is better than those first batches built by HDB. My block is already 30 years old, and the unit comes with 2-leaf main door and service balcony which is not prevalent in HDB flats until recent years. Besides Pandan Gardens, those 5-rooms at Teban Gardens and Boon Lay Gardens also come with 2 access doors. But I don't like those 5-rooms at Teban & Boon lay as their ceiling is not as high as flats at Pandan Gardens. Not sure where else JTC built these type of flats with 2 doors.
  23. My electrical works cost nearly $5000! First quote was like $4.3K, due to many cove lights, socket points, SCV point, SingTel point, etc. Very kiasu, get all the points ready for the all the service providers! Now, there are more additions: I am paying extra to change all sockets (single and double) to those 2-pin friendly type (initial estimate from electrician is $9 extra for single socket, and $16 more for double sockets). I have previously installed the 2-pin friendly socket bought from Sheng Siong, the brand name is NCE Advance Electrical, and I pay over $20 for each socket! I am also getting PE endorsement for the electrical installations. Kiasu & kiasi On top of that, I am asking the electrician to connect the Cat 6 cable to all rooms including additional network cable in the living for future connectivity to the fibre optic terminal box.
  24. Yes We must see things in these perspective to draw a complete picture!
  25. Most FSM will just tell you what is in your life path without offering advice to unleash your potential. I am quoting here the message from my master JY: Change begins with self-awareness. Everyone is bestowed with their own unique personality, talents and potential since the day they were born. But how many of us are well aware of them? Awareness gets the ball rolling for change and paves the way to the path of least resistance to your success in life. When you are aware about yourself, you know your strengths and weaknesses, and what needs to be changed or improved. Or at the very least, be mindful of.
