  2. hey! how come ur city gas heater doesn't lead into the toilet for the pipes? i want to get the citygas heater too. i see about everjoint. i alrdy bought my fridges and ovens etc. well... i guess ur right, the price won't have much diff.
  3. Sounds so irritating. Sometimes the dateline to them is like a suggestion. I wonder if the contractors are actually kan chiong or not. I feel like my reno progress is so slow... irritating. wish they can speed it up too! btw, ur furniture deliver so early, not scared it gets dirty or spoilt? cos mine is also delivering early, i'm wondering whether i should lock it in one of the rooms. i like track lights too, and i also just went to lightcraft over the weekend, gonna buy from them too!
  4. I love the Xmas tree... makes the house look like home! Really exciting to see the final product! Mine just started tiling today I'm really praying that they can speed up! I bought the tiler tea and curry puff today, hoping that he'll work harder! LOL. I miss Jackson place too. But I think eminent plaza down the road is nicer! Just went there for frog's leg porridge the other night. Super crowded mans.
  5. ohh everjoint sounds so cheap, i will go check it out, thanks! i just need to get some simple items like kettle, steamer, etc. But probably towards the end of my reno, not right now... your tiling done? mine just started today on the toilets... i hope they finish by this wk if possible... i have some deliveries already planned on this friday.
  6. nice! congrats... seems like **** a lot of people just got keys from HDB from many different estates huh... no wonder i find it so hard to get contracting work done too! the contractors must be earning like mad! i like your floorplan! why don't you do an open concept kitchen? that space behind the kitchen looks wasted...
  7. been super busy this weekend... bought many many big items!!! and finally, my kitchen hacking is complete!
  8. hi! congrats on ur 5 rm! so much more spacious than my 4 rm... I also just got my keys and aiming to be done in Jan 2011! So ya, quite sad that some items in the home i simply cannot wait. anyways just to check with you, how did u find everjoint and mega discount? i've never heard of those in my life. are they popular and reliable too? cos i've already bought my big items but looking for good deals for smaller appliances. thanks!
  9. ya, why they dun think a bit and save u all that hassle... dun make sense at all...
  10. Ya really dun get it why hdb go n put this kind of small window for ac. Even human also hard to squeeze thru lor! Im not going to apply permit again, the hassle n waiting is torture. Totally agree with u! Tmr wat time u be at the house? I see if i can make it down! I got a wedding but maybe timing can squeeze cos im nearby. Thanks for the invite!
  11. wah... ur contractor v fast... mine a bit slow leh... 3rd wk of reno and still doing plastering only... i guess applying the permit for hacking was slowing everything down... sien. at first i thought they'd be done with the tiling by now... got to chase them to move quickly! and ur ex-owner very nice man, can let u guys start first...
  12. nice! you painted the kids room yourself? did u add false ceiling for the corridor too? i cut costs, so I don't have false ceiling in the house... hope i can still make it look as nice! what aircon did u get? i'm only going to get the aircon this weekend. i'm so scared of the pipes man... btw what did you do to the aircon pipe that leads to the master toilet? did you try to conceal it or just leave it as it is?
  13. Plastering in the kitchen done halfway... - initial plan was to overlay tiles in the kitchen, but decided to just plaster the walls and keep the floor tiles (save about $3k). More hacking... - was waiting for PE and HDB to approve that one stupid small piece of wall... initially HDB said go ahead, later on then call and say they change their mind, they wanna get PE endorsement. So sickening. Can just change your mind like that one meh? But anyways today contractor say they approve liao. so i'm glad we can finally finish the hacking and go on with life! (notice got bar inside that wall as reinforcement. I think cos it's v slim. but not structurally critical). Sealing up the master bedroom door... Overlaying tiles in the toilets are starting... Extra damage of $500 for the PE to hack that small wall in the kitchen
  14. oh is it! I didn't know that the clothes rack thing can cost so much... It's blocking my way, cos I'm hacking the service area wall for a bigger kitchen, I won't be able to have the clothes rack there without it being an eyesore, so no choice. Plus I think I won't utilise it much. Maybe I can post up and see who would want it, or store it first. haha, the toilet bowl looks ok! actually the tiles just makes everything so nice... u changed to a glass door too! so nice, i wanted but got to cut costs
  15. wow ur house is really original, can do by cny? I'm also hoping to handover before cny, but mine is new flat lah, so not so much reno involved... hehe... hope ur reno goes well!
  16. last picture of the toilet with everything removed and before they overlay new tiles... makes me wonder where my workers are going to pee from now on. yucks....
  17. hahahaha!! ur so funny... to be honest i didnt notice your toilet bowl in your pics leh, think still quite glam lah!! haha... anyways only for our A** to see, no need so glam. if mine was not faulty i might not have changed also. ur spouse will be v happy no need to spend more $$$. i'm actually removing the clothes hanger thing on the ceiling anyways, i like my drying rack to be waist level. dunno why HDB like to give us something so tall, height discrimination man... short people how? haha... i'm prob going to buy those foldable ones lah, more used to those...
  18. Hihi! I'm also just starting to reno, hope ur reno goes well! is holland drive the new blocks near bouna vista? super good location! btw, can i ask how come your citygas piping at the kitchen dun just do straight down if your hob is just underneath it? i'm still thinking of a good way to pull my pipes so that it's hidden. also, i agree, lighting.com.sg is v cheap.
  19. ah... but if your window cannot close then can your laundry thingy be pulled down? did you change your window? i also feel like changing window! i changed toilet bowls, cos i decided that the ones in my home was slightly faulty after i tested it. and that pushed me to change new ones lor. but honestly, like my husband says, only i will notice the difference lah. he couldn't even tell one wc from another at SSC...
  20. what we bought fr SSC: - wc (about $300) - basin (sale: $98) - basin - kitchen sink, exactly the slim type we wanted. also bought some other things like sink mixer and etc, but no good pictures to show
  21. here's my bathroom story... bought all my toilet fittings from the Grohe sale at Interior Affairs in november last month. their service is quite good and their showroom there is really very nice. had so many beautiful dream kitchens and bathrooms that i wish i can buy a landed house to fit it all in. haha... anyways spent about $1k there on basin mixers, shower mixers and showers and some accessories. one good buy is the towel rack that we bought for only $18! haha i think it was 70% off. after which i scouted around quite a number of bathroom shops to look for wc, basins, kitchen sink, etc but couldn't really find any that i like that fits my price range. until we went to sim siang choon warehouse near changi. that place is really big and carries more varieties than their shops at IMM and such. so bought everything there, also another $1k plus. i love nice toilets and it's so important that i like spending time in the toilet so we did splurge a bit on this area, so including the overlaying of tiles etc, i think about $4k is spent on the toilets. now i think that those 3 room flats with only 1 toilet is actually quite good, ours everything must double the cost, quite expensive. my husband says that i'm mad to spend so much on the one part of the house that was actually already done up. so maybe i am? but i'm sure when i'm in my toilet next time i'll be happy. lol... i'm sacrificing on other parts of the house though... so i'm still within budget. Surprisingly!
  22. By the way, did any of you use citygas for water heater? I'm quite scared of all the pipes but I think better than having water tank...
  23. Hehe thanks! Just found out yesterday that getting the PE to check my service wall for hacking is going to cost me $500. Puke blood man... But I guess I did factor in these incidentals into my costing, which is why at the beginning when I sign with my contractor I push the price down as much as possible. Whatever I'm not sure of I added into the contract as KIV with the price first. Save money!
  24. i've learnt that depend on yourself and trust yourself better. no one knows what you want better than you. plus if anything goes wrong, at least you blame yourself and not others. make sure you get your way!
  25. Hihi! You are very brave to put your wifey's picture up, I'd have slaughtered my husband if he did that! Good luck with your renovations! One thing i don't get is why do you need a network when most people are trying to go wireless for everything now?
