  1. I don't have such problem but I am wondering with all the new HDBs and pte condo building so close to one another, how to avoid such houses. My new flat has another set of problem, a lot of beams and columns not hidden...
  2. I didn't realize that ID running away can still happen. Is it just the ID or the company that has run away? How is ur case now? Pictures please...
  3. I have a 2nd fridge in my utility room but it's not a bomb shelter. The utility room opens out to the service yard and we never leave the door close so I supposed I don't have the ventilation problem.
  4. Smart_user, under the contract with my ID, we also have to pay up to 95% before most of the works will be completed because the bulk of my works is all carpentry. although I already know the clauses of the contract and sign willingly, I am sort of having 2nd thoughts of this whole payment terms...sigh!! can only hope for the best. He has not started work. He went holiday after we signed on the dotted line. We are putting all our trust on him. Praying for everything to be shun shun...
  5. I just signed with a contractor who is not a "good" contractor! Praying for the best!!
  6. I am just curious, if the users do backsplash between the whole row of top and bottom cabinets for the whole kitchen, then how to install those railings to hang things? Can be drilling into the glass right? My ID is giving me 10mm 3 ft black tempered glass at kitchen stove for free but I am considering if I really need it.
  7. Very nicely done up renovation. I just have 2 comments that I cannot resist saying.. 1) The sink is too far from the hob. I am not sure if you realise it since you have already moved in. It's a major consideration for people who will cook or bake frequently but I read that you don't cook frequently so I reckon it will be fine. 2) You will need shower screen for taking shower in your bathtub and I saw that you have installed rain shower as well. The water is most likely to be splashing all over the bathroom. The wooden shelf next to your bathtub is nice but need to have a shower screen or dry it to protect it. I think I am way to practical...
  8. Not sure if we are being chopped like carrot. I also do full ht wardrobes (9.5ft tall because my unit is at 2nd storey). 1) Total wardrobe length about 16ft altogether for the 3 bedrooms. 2) I am also doing study table (8ft + 5ft long) in 2 of the bedrooms and overhang cabinets (8ft long) above the study table in the bedroom. 3) There is also a full ht cupboard cum shoe cabinet (5 ft long) next to the door and 4) a full ht TV cum storage cupboard (12 ft) long at the living room. 5) 20ft long kitchen cabinet (top and bottom) with solid top. 6) 2 cabinets below the wash basins in the 2 bathrooms 7) remove bathtub and make good. 8) change wash basin at common toilet. 9) polish marble floor and parquet floor 10) painting of whole house. total 28k. forget to mention all carpentry has coloured internal.
  9. We just signed with 3D Innovative. Jxxxx Txx is our coordinator. He went for a short holiday and will be back next Wed to start work. We chose him because we had good chemistry with him although he is really not a designer but started from the bottom as a foreman in the past. BTW, we went through 10 IDs and contractors and a carpenter recommended by my hubby's colleague quoted us prices that is just a little cheaper than the IDs which really pissed us off. Can't wait for you to upload the pictures!
  10. How big is your condo? Is your floor area very big? The painting seems very expensive. Some IDs quote me 1.6k for 8 colours excluding white for ceiling for my 102sqm condo using ICI or Nippon paint.
  11. FirenFeng, Is this QC a contractor? No website? You used them before or you are the employee?
  12. Hello Hobbietan, we also have the same idea to have a tv console cum storage kind of concept. except that we want to really make to measure because we want to hide the tv inside the storage place and have the storage cabinets disguised as a feature wall. you are right that made-to-measure storage concepts are more expensive (designed to suit your living room, plywood and not chipboard). we approached 10 IDs and their prices are....(I don't need to say)....since we already have some ideas, we had approached carpenters and contractors. hopefully it will work for us. Still waiting for response and evaluating. I must say that some of the Ikea furniture esp those with arcylic finishes are very nice...maybe we will eventually still go for that...Ikea furniture are not eliminated from our list yet.
  13. Actually, my relative's contractor applied water proofing and still warranty the waterproofing. Just that their finishing not so good. There are also 2 IDs that I spoke to who are willing to do only the floor and wall tiles for the portion that is affected by the hacking of the bath tub. but that is 2 out of 10. I am just wondering if the reason that they say that the whole hacking is necessary to earn more from the owners. I hope that is not really the case. I understand that there are some condo owners from Parc Condo that remove the bath tub in their new condo. Wonder if they hacked the whole new bathrooms??
  14. A lot of the IDs that I spoke to say that if we want to remove bath tub, the whole master bathroom will have to be hacked and replaced. I have a relative that just asked a contractor to remove the bath tub and replaces some tiles on the floor and the wall and it's possible. Should I insist that I just want to remove the bathtub?
