Home > ST Forum > Online Story Aug 29, 2007 Philips TV sound malfunction, but service centre denies there is a problem I BOUGHT a Philips 20-inch LCD TV last November. From day one, our family noticed that the volume is extremely soft and we had to set it to the maximum to barely hear the sound. Because this is the second TV at home and Philips does not offer onsite service and we do not have a car, we sent this unit to Philips service centre only in July. However, we were told that no problem was found and everything is within specifications, and our complaint is due to individual differences. I believe my hearing is all right, if not perfect, Moreover, a few other customers in the waiting area in the service centre shared the same feeling that the volume is soft. And I learnt that there are two Philips LCD models having similar problems and that Philips is aware of this. I was asked to bring the set back home, and was told that a manager would call me within a week. This seemed to be the end of the story. No one bothered to contact me and, when I called back a week later, the automatic system informed me that the case had been closed. Eventually I reached somebody on the phone, and I was promised somebody will call me back. So far a month has passed and I believe I have been totally forgotten. hbd contractors used those 3 in 1 mixture that contains so-claimed waterproof + white cement + cement they called it waterproof cement - just full of bollocks. the worst method to do a toilet. sorry for being harsh - your contractor should know if not print out the webpage below to show him. http://www.diydata.com/tool/drillbits/drillbits.php the plumber should be using a drillbit meant for bricks/concrete to drill the tiles - workmanship no good of cos crack will the tiles. the ONLY situation whereby a wall full with tiles cannot be drilled is that they are HOLLOW. as long as they are NOT HOLLOW - sure can be drill. Just that they refuse to use the correct drill bit. this is a drill bit for drilling tiles - $4 BIG sg dollars -every expensive meh? so is he using this??? I dont think so !
-
welcome to renotalk!

drilling got nothing to do with the workmanship of tiling. unless the tiles are HOLLOW. do ask your contractor/hubby to check the floortrap in the toilet(did they cement it properly?), plus all the vertical pipes, the sides of the main sewage pipe. Try to silicon all of them, whatever small gap you can see(especially vertical ones). for me, my toilet was leaking after we move in for 3-4 days... I just heckcare and silicon EVERY vertical pipe. leaking was bad, all hdb 's fault - end up still need to do grouting/waterproofing. Go and buy those CLEAR water proof silicon - i will try to post a pic tonight. i have yet to hear any hdb contractor doing a decent job - let alone a good one.

1) a hand drill - arm yourself with 4mm - 6mm, better still get a cobalt drill bit(they can drill thru anything). 2) rivets - i didnt measure them, i just buy a pack of short one(around 6mm) and a longer one(12-14mm). check with the shop when buying. 3) Riveter - dont buy the cheapest one - your hands will be shaking for the whole day.
