Put a mirror between the two common rooms and a warm light at the corridor you, it will be closer to that look! -
Looks nice. Where did you shop for the bathroom stuff?

Congrats! Our floor plans are similar. I didn't know the kitchen can accommodate an island! That's very nice. Looking forward to seeing your updates. -

Hehehe.. 2.46m may be a bit tooooo long, unless you ask your carpenter to cut it to 2m, and the remaining one you can use it as side table or whatever. Or you can get the 1.8m one which is cheaper. Don't buy the normal ikea study table, i think the laminate will come off after awhile, we saw it from the showroom display. -

Hi Aya, you can refer to this blog. He made the table out of Numerar worktop and 6 vika legs. You may be interested in his dining table as well. http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=26050&view=findpost&p=546832 Well, the other room is for my sister - waiting for her to join us in Singapore after she completes her studies in overseas. In the meantime, we plan to rent it out. After reno, really need some cash to recover *sob* *sob* -

Hahah, i also didn't even know whether that vacuum can work. Probably it's another junk that we got to help her to clear. You are very lucky. I didn't like it when she was pretending to be nice.. it is very fake! Today, got to meet her again, as today is completion day! Anyway, the furniture are cleared now. -

Aya, if you like long study table, you can consider getting ikea numerar work top and make it as ur study table. We are doing that. It is solid wood! Anyway, i like the half height bookshelves. Look more spacious. We are planning to put a day bed in the study room for guest, as we will be expecting overnight guest on and off. So no bookshelves for us -
Go to fairprice and buy the ant bait and stick at the area, sure no ants! My office pantry also used that, and it worked.

Final Inspection Last night, we had a final inspection on the house. We have carefully checked all corners, ceiling, floor, toilet, kitchen. The only minor issue is a crack in the wall. But i guess it should be okay, since we are going to plaster all the walls. We found that the seller had not moved all their stuff away, they left behind a big dressing table and a big wardrobe. Hubby was not pleased with the idea that we have to remove these for them. If ask contractor to dismantle and throw away, he might charge us. We talked to the seller, but the lady seller was very fierce and shouted back at us. I am not comfortable with her pretending to be nice to us. She kept mentioning that she cleaned the house before she moved out, she even left a few slippers and an old vacuum cleaner in case we need to use. So she thinks that we should be responsible to help her to clear away her furniture. Anyway, we have told the agent about this and he said he will settle this for us. -

Thanks for reaffirming my ideas. I will go take a look at the food court at Marina Square. Yes, I agree that the tiles are going to be the focal point, hence the kitchen cabinet cannot be too fancy, got to becareful when choosing the laminates. Will update again when I have the actual design. -
omg :jawdrop: can't believe the handover condition was so bad! Yesterday we did a final inspection for our house before collecting keys on 12 Apr, we found that the seller also left a few heavy and bulky things behind for us to throw away. But after looking at the condition of your house, i think we are quite lucky that the seller didn't dirty the house before they left. So how did your agent settle this for you? I have asked my agent and he said he will settle those big furniture for us. Btw, i think you should hack away your kitchen tiles, i have no budget to lay new tiles on the kitchen wall as well, hence i only did like what aya has suggested to you, cement screed and paint it. We only have tiles on kitchen back splash.

I like the idea of an extension window ledge to put some plants there. It will definitely cheer up the whole look. But the aircon trunking in your study room is very obvious, is that the part that will be blocked by the door when the door is open? -

Hi Rae, Do you mean the food court at Marina Bay Sands? I saw these tiles there too. But frankly speaking, the tile itself is nice but i think they are not matching to the other tiles in the MBS food court. It just look too busy with too many different patterns of tiles. I'm not sure if mine will turn out like that.. I'm praying that it is a right choice. If you mean Marina Square, I havn't been to the food court in Marina square hehe -

We also have ugly aircon trunking in the MBR, but it is currently aligning with the indented wall in the MBR, not so obvious, but when you look at it closely, you can actually see it. The trunking is also on the left side of the window. Not sure if i should re-do the aircon piping. Or maybe i will just get a slightly wider curtain to cover up the ugly pipes. -

I like this toilet too! Trying to achieve a similar effect but got to use black & white mosaics as floor tiles which my hubby strongly objects hehee... cos he is the one who cleans the toilet The metal stand for the basin we saw it in IKEA, but it is too big for our small toilet.. 80cm width!
