What do you mean by air pipe? I didn't know it can be removed! Seems like a great news if it can be out of sight. -

Will your ID go to the work site every day? I guess it is important for them to monitor for us as we are working and not able to monitor the work all the time. Look forward to your photos tonight, if any Hehe -

Yeah, Mosaics are expensive. The laying work is also expensive. In Hafary, I saw that they have some samples of tiles with matching mosaics. But I don't find the match attractive. We probably got to spend more time to select the perfect match. -

19 Mar 2012 (Pre-reno) After meeting 3 contractors, we are more or less quite firm with one of the contractors. Meeting contractors and explaining our requirements all over and over again is really a tiring process (although only 3). More tiring than house hunting i think We are planning to view one of his projects, if everything goes well, we will confirm with him next week! In the weekend, we have gone to Hafary and LSH to see see look look. Just to get a rough idea on the tiles selection. We found that the tiles that we love are mainly Italian tiles! Have talked to the contractor and he said he is ok for us to use tiles above 3.80 for certain area. He is quite flexible in this. Happy~ -
Neoby, i like the clean look of your kitchen. Initially i do not want to have top cabinet too. But most of the contractors said there will be unsightly water pipes running across the top part. Besides, I will be using gas cylinder, so if i only do bottom cabinet, not enough storage space. So end up have to do top and bottom. Btw, Do you not plan to install hood?

Exciting! Tomorrow is the day your reno officially starts - wish you have a smooth reno journey! I really salute your hubby and father for the hacking work. We thought of doing that before. But after seeing what you have gone through i think we should not try. But anyway, there are only kitchen cabinet and a few racks to be dismantled in my new house, so the hacking cost is still ok. -
Wow European design, i would love to see too!

I like the laminate you choose. Remember to take photos and show us the final result

Is that a 3D photo? From 3D it is very hard to gauge the material used. But from the look of it, i like they gray laminate for top cabinet. It looks a bit metallic. Hee... -

Why leh? I also plan to use magic clean. I think for living room or bed room it's ok to use magic clean. Maybe not for kitchen. Need to clean thoroughly if do heavy cooking. -

Wow, your light sounds good! Do you have the model of the lighting? For my bedroom, i thought of having a chandelier. But anyway, i'm just thinking only. It may not be practical. -

Hmm.. seems like there are lots of comments on parquet. Not easy to maintain huh.. but hubby and I really like the warm feeling with parquet flooring. Or should we just consider laminate? Laminate is the cheapest option so far. However we are worry about its durability. We also consider laying tiles with wooden texture, but one of the contractors told us tiles are not expensive, it is the workmanship that is expensive! As timber tiles are very very heavy. Probably we should go for a better quality laminate? -

Just some updates. We have spoken to two contractors. Both pricing are very competitive. We were thinking to save some costs by not changing the windows and not doing the ceiling works. As we want to spend on laying parquet for living + 3 bedrooms. What do you guys think? Is it worth spending on parquet? Our initial plan was to change all the bronze aluminium windows to white powder coated aluminium windows as the bronze windows make the house appear dark, especially the glass are tinted. What can we do to improve this? Really headache. It is either the window or the floor. -

Just wondering if you don't do false ceiling for living room. What kind of lights do you plan to use? I am also contemplating whether to do false ceiling. But not sure what kind of lights should i use if i do not want to use those normal white fluorescent lights. Hmmm.. By the way, there are so many artists here! Wow! -

The classic solid doors are really good. It's sad you have to dismantle and dispose them. What kind of doors will you be using? -

Less than 30K can do so many things? I get quotation from contractors, the lowest is 33K. I didn't plan to hack floor tiles. Just use laminate. But i plan to change all windows. I only have carpentry for Kitchen. Hmm.. Wonder why 3K more expensive than yours... *sob* -

I just knew both of you are husband and wife! Haha.. glad that you started this blog. I can take as reference. Your house condition is very good. Floor tiles are also in good condition. No need to change~ -
Not bad, but i think if you want to mix and match, you should make it more deliberate. For e.g a totally different chair like the following photo. Just my 2 cents
