  1. Well said. the most un-pretentious comment in this forum. Based on what I saw, you house reno would cost a lot for me. Even though I love the design, it would be a fleeting moment of "hey this is the best look or this is what i want". i went through all the individual blogs here and met some of the contractors here. There is 1 who did not even quote me or responded back. a lot of folks here are asking for his contact but i reckon he is overwhelmed with request than he wishes. To those of you who are reading this, don't get upset if one or more of those contractors/id here who don''t live up to expectation on what you saw in this forum. I would stop giving out contractor contacts, especially those who are so sought after. They are human being and there is a limit to their creative juices. i am one of those who had zero sense in design. i am not using a ID but a contractor for cost reasons. Today was the first day in hacking. the contractor also have no sense in design gosh !!! well i know that beforehand so it will be a fun journey. however my nerves are getting to me. i needed assurance, mentally. Looking back i would have gone for a younger person who can communicate with me primarily in english and who have some design ideas or concepts. Yeah it will cost more but hey i reckon i can sleep better tonight. i am having a glass of whisky to smooth the soul and boost the confidence. well done on what you had done on the reno. pls continue to share with us on your journey. meantime, would you be kind to share with me the color of the 'bling bling'gold paint you put on the toilet pipes. many thanks
  2. Hi Jerome, kindly quote 1) black Haiku composite fan 2) tecnoslim hood TH968T 3) TECNO HOB SPARKLING BLACK using pub gas beside the haiku fan, do you have any other simple looking fan in black white for dining and bedrm use. my is a hdb flat thank you
  3. Living room Hi there may i hear some feedback on the fan. i notice you have false ceiling + a ceiling fan. is it too low is it windy as i notice it is very near to the ceiling. most grateful if you can share the cost of the fan and where to buy it. thank you

  7. Hi Iwanpeace congrats on moving into your new house. i would be moving out of AMK to punggol. going to miss amk. just had my first appt and is looking for a contractor. can PM me your contractor Andy contact number
  8. Hi Adidaem / XTR This is the image i have in my mind but could not put it in words. white epoxy flooring !!!! finally got a technical name to it.No grout lines, white expanse space feel. based on both your experience, any contractor can do this type of flooring ? also does epoxy comes in white or isit because the cement screed floor is painted white thereafter coated with epoxy. May I know where is Pomelo House store located. would love to go and see for myself if this is what i really want. Hey thanks to both of you again and again. weeks of research on the net could not lead me to what you both had shared. so grateful for this.
  9. Hi XTR, thank you so much for the reply. I was looking for this information in this forum and you hit the nail on the head. what would you have done suppose the sanding down did not work i salute both of you in putting in the dedication to resolve the dust issue to be align with what you want from the overall design. from what i gathered, you love the random raw pattern from concrete. at any time did you consider painting the floor ? i read online overseas, this is a common practice and also there was a posting in this forum about a white painted floor by a ID for his own flat. wondering if paint can take care of the dusty feel once again..keep posting. i am a follower of your blog
  10. Hey XTR great job on the reno and outstanding taste in the whole decor. i notice you had cement screed floor. do you like it so far ? i read somewhere on dusty feeling on the feet and hairline cracks. BTW, would a living room without tiles lower the valuation value in future i like this kind of flooring and seriously wanting it. recently saw in this forum Vinyl flooring.those single color like black or grey or even cement screed looking seems suitable. i just have no idea how it feel like on the feet. resaon i like cement screed, beside the look is there is no grouting lines. With rgds to Vinyl, i am worried about how it might affect the valuation 5 yrs down the road. my is a resale flat which i am waiitng for hdb appt. thanks for sharing loads of useful info in this blog. greatly appreciated!
  11. Hi Hoo8899 You not worried about the safety of the lights you buy from china ? i mean they are not tested here therefore i am worried about the quality and safety such as fire or electrical short. what is your comment on the lights so far. is it safe. you have provided valuable resources on tabao. many thanks
  12. dear friends reason why i wish to change the living rm flooring of the feel. i like big tile like this pic below. current tiles is not in a dark tone which ideally would be my choice. i know these big tiles would cost much thus can only wish for hey what happens when you have hollow tiles ? I read here on using heels, marble and coin to test the floor rite. therefore if you find 1 pc that is hollow..the contractor will dig out that 1 pc and replace isit. the plan is to change the flooring for kitchen and living, 2 toilets which include tiles and flooring + basins and wc. prefer to do it at one go to save the hassle later on. actually the condition in the fixture is good which also heart pain if damage during the reno. looking back at some of the posts i read, i envy those who bought a really bad condition unit and have to do n replace everything. shiok can re-design and do to personal likng n taste. of course money counts too. a lot of thoughts went into the comments on the a/c. good advice. will kiv changing by getting the serviceman to come in and check the condition. changing a new system going to cost $2 to $3K n my usage is likely to be 4 hrs a night or less.
  13. Hey LLChing, many thanks ) Do you really need to have aircon to work, sleep etc in your home? Will fan do? Actually i dont sleep in a/c. always with fan. but bcos this unit is not high, i am concern of the heat more in the living n study where i work 2) Do you need aircon for all the rooms? living rm + Master + study 3) Ever consider new single unit for your room only and subsequently, casement aircon for the other rooms if needed in future. Would this method actually be cheaper ? Would aircon system add value to the valuation of the property after 5 yrs ? 4) Though the old aircon may still be in working condition, watch out for the remote control. The metal parts where the battery touches may be rusty and the control not functional. 2 /5 of the remote is spoilt. Yep there are 5 a/c 3rms+living+dining. i don't see the need for 1 in the dining personally.
  14. Thank you all for the valuable feedback on the a/c portion and the thing on progressive payment from id/contractor and how to go abt with the banks. good start. over the long weekend went to several show flats. crowded. would prices go down ?..ha ha..believe the "expert" went to showflat to get ideas. sorry to those agents serving me. Ripple Bay is nice near beach. have some idea now on what is anti slam, brands of oven and hob/hood, homogenous tiles, laminate, timber floor.... thanks to share your input to this question rgds flooring. I am thinking of removing the existing tiles in 1) Living rm - One of the wall have very nice wall paper. by hacking the floor would i have to also sacrifice the wallpaper. i saw some of the photos of floor hacking in this forum and saw walls covered in dirt and small knocks here and there. 2) Kitchen - current cabinets are in fair condition. by hacking away the floor tiles and replace it with new tiles, would it damage the kitchen cabinets. i wish i can post photos but did not took any the last time i was there when exercise the option. cant wait to share them with you.
  15. I did not know about progressive payment with contractor/id. good to get the heads up from you on this. thank you
