  1. Just come across this when I looking for wooden like kitchen top ... my husband concern is whether it can resist hard knocks especially when we want to chop the chicken etc. The thickness is about 6mm thick .. not sure if it is good enough. The website mentioned can follow their youtube channel for the video clips on resistance to hard knocks but I cannot find it in the youtube channel.
  2. Yeah, will hack a lot of walls. Changed to storage cabinet instead of settee, mainly due to cost cutting and we also plan to do different design for the bedrooms when the kid grow up. Hi barcadibreezer, I have the same feeling ... ID will just design based on what you told them, but I believed they will add in some design factors into the plan and also giving the 3D which is more easier to imagine : ) I still haven't shortlisted ID / contractor ... still waiting for their quotations. It has took me for more than 2 months of discussing till receiving quotations ... Btw, have pm you the contractor contacts ~ good luck

  4. 10k COV is really a good deal ~ Looking forward to see your layout plan, curious to see how you want to do with your new house ... Will you also hack a many walls? I know there are 2 contractors who were very popular in renotalk - Alan and Mr. K, let me know if you want their contacts. Besides of asking them for quotations, I also checked with other contractors who were recommended by my friend... but still haven't finalized the contractor / ID. How many IDs have you talked to ?
  5. We have the same depth of 30cm under the window recess area, we also will do 50cm protrude out of settee, total depth is 80cm .. correct. You can consider to do 40cm settee but it might not be comfortable to sit long .. standard is 50cm. Our carpenter will make a "frame" with doors outside the recess area, i.e. inside will have no shelf as we want to put big things inside the settee.
  6. Hi barcadibreezer, welcome to renotalk ~ Welcome to join the tampines 7xx neighbour group .. U know the unit we bought? You viewed this house before? This house has been opened to market for 3 months and we choose it just before it's valuation expired .. I have viewed almost all the units in 7xx .. so I also know the floor plan you mentioned. We usually will buy the floor plan before shortlisted the units Is this something you bought? Sure we can share our reno ideas here .. here is 7xx tampines T-blog : ) We faced the same problem, the reno cost is unexpectedly over our budget .. and we still haven't found ID/ contractor to reno our house, already 1 month of searching. Now almost received all the quotations except some still pending, hope one of them can meet our budget .. we increased our budget from 40k to 50k, how much is yours? Btw, how much COV did you pay for your 7xx unit? During our house searching time, our unit was the highest COV among the rest in 7xx Tampines ... we have viewed more than 20 units
  7. Thanks crypaz ~ I hope can stay with the current bottom grills after putting some plants .. else will need to spend some money to cover it with the wooden frame ... not sure if the wood can stand the rain water.
  8. Like your open concept kitchen .. Looking forward to see more pics ~
  9. Hi bb_1314, congratulation on your new purchase! When you going to collect your key? I also just bought a 5room hdb and going to collect our key in end of October... Initially we have budget of 40K and after talking to few IDs and contractors, we have to increase our budget to 50K or more ... We also give up to do flooring and keep the existing flooring .. Even though the budget has increased, we still haven't found the contractor / ID coz still waiting for their new quotation .. Hope can meet our budget. Btw, this is what we want to do .. ignore those green color which will be purchased. All the best ~
  10. Hi tessina, I guess we have the similar grilles .. I saw the link before, I also have thought of it but now changed our mind. Current owner has painted it to white color which looked fine to me and we going to paint the top section of grilles to white color too. If still find it ugly after everything is done, may be will try to cover it like the picture below : And put some decorations and plants on it. Hope the final result will turn out nice
  11. I just realized you also pregnant ~ me too (EDD 7 Jan). Our first appt of buying is 1 Sep and key collection shall be on 27 October .. can't wait ~ Wow, you also have met so many IDs .. We still haven't found the ID we want, now quite keen to meet InsideL***** after saw your review .. The quotes received from IDs we met was quite high .. sigh.
  12. For our future common bedrooms, will not do much things on these two bedrooms : - Design & fabricate cabinet under the window recess area. - Change to L-box for the ceiling so that we can install ceiling fans for both bedrooms.
  13. hi ~ I used photoshop to do the floor plan, my husband used fireworks to do the measurements .. so more accurate. You can try google sketch .. saw it was not bad, but have yet to try.
  14. Yeah .. the house we bought was in quite a good condition and the living room and MBR was in parquet flooring - move in condition but we want to have our own style. We are going to hack 8 walls We managed to find a carpenter to do all the carpentry works and now is looking for ID/ contractor to do the remaining works such as tiling, hacking and ceiling etc. We have to increase our budget .. be prepared that you might not able to achieve all your wish list due to budget constraint .. We also never expected the reno cost can be so high. I shared our lookbook here & my blog ~ I not sure if ok to share the pic of the house we bought as the owners still staying there, i.e. I filtered the photos into sketch mode .. e.g. Look forward to see your lookbook
  15. Have a chance to stay in this mingshu when we travel to Yilan last year .. like this feeling too ~ very fresh. I quite impressed on how Taiwanese and Japanese designed their home ~ I also like the feeling on this cafe that we visited in Ji Long :

After paid so much cash, we also on tight budget for reno ~ around 40k but seems quite tough after received few quotations all are 67k or 78k n above .. Sigh. Great to see you also like scandi+jap minimal .. I also looking for similar theme. Put some ideas in my t-blog ..

  21. We actually looking for area + floor plan ~ but we really like this floor plan, now is hoping the wall between MBR and service balcony can be hacked .. else my husband will really upset, is his idea to convert service balcony to study room.
  22. Hi Nexer, have pm you the link .. I bought @ 74.50 ... Think is cheaper than Lush Lush.
  23. Good idea for the usage of bench ~ I will try to ask my husband to consider ... Wow .. for us, just thought of buying 42" TV (current one was 37") ... looked like we have to think again about the tv size.
