  1. IKEA sells the entire drawer (the wooden base and the drawer runners) as a set... the drawer dimensions available are 30, 40, 50, 60 and 80cm... so the cabinet width must be one of these sizes in order to use the IKEA drawers... for drawer runners only, gotta buy from BLUM through a BLUM dealer... then u can fit in any drawer width...
  2. i just called Mr. Lim, the haulage guy... his handphone number is pasted on the lobby... he said he's actually selling sand... he quoted haulage/sand for 4-rm (all tiles) is $1K... if doing only cabinet base, $150...
  3. if the refund the homeowner is supposed to get is more than $40K, then the homeowner can get the full $30K advanced payment... there is no accrued interest on the withheld amount because the official date of disbursement of the refund is the date of surrendering of the old flat... note that the $30K is an ADVANCED payment... if HDB wants to, it could actually DEDUCT the accrued interest on the $30K before disbursing the advanced payment, but it did not...
  4. do consider the 42" model: 42pv7 or 42pv70... v good review on these two models in hardwarezone forum...
  5. not just the laminate flooring, even the glue in ur carpentry works can potentially emit toxic vapor... but the amount emitted at room temperature is negligible... only at a temperature of about 50 degree celcius or higher is there a danger of the emission exceeding the safe limits... u can google for more info on Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) in furniture... not just the laminate flooring, even the glue in ur carpentry works can potentially emit toxic vapor... but the amount emitted at room temperature is negligible... only at a temperature of about 50 degree celcius or higher is there a danger of the emission exceeding the safe limits... u can google for more info on Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) in furniture...
  6. in blk 25A, i noticed that some of the main doors have become more glossy... izzit that these doors have been re-varnished??
  7. hi gadgetgal, i did not mark the height... so it's the HDB contractor who decide the cement screed thickness... according to HDB rules, the total thickness of flooring (screed plus whatever overlay) must not exceed 50mm... i believe the HDB contractor would consider this point when he decides on the cement screed thickness... i will check the thickness and update the forum... probably will be using supreme laminate flooring... the 8mm AC5 kind...
  8. then u have to !! !! ur ID liaox... ur ID should give u more confidence
  9. haha, of cos... but reno not yet started...
  10. yes, IKEA still selling them... u can see the BLUM logo on the runners...
  11. yes, an ID told me to that the tiles should be done up first cos scared later the tile height and laminate height not the same... anyway, already done, so hope it is ok... or at least the contractor/ID can adjust the tiling height to suit the laminate height...
  12. hi kriegs, i submitted the application one week after collecting keys, together with the defect list... at that time, still did not know abt the BSC at Blk 27B, so went to Bt Merah HDB Branch Office instead... nope, i was not notified of the completion of the screeding... but the BSC did call me to inform me that the defects have been rectified...
  13. hi xlan, yes, theoretically can apply for cement screeding on the same day as collecting keys... the place to go for application of cement screeding is Bukit Merah HDB Branch Office... rem DO NOT handover the actual main door and main gate keys... get a padlock for the metal gate and handover the padlock key only...
  14. HDB has done up the cement screeding for my unit... think it was done on last sat, cos the cement screed was still moist yesterday... so din get to inspect the workmanship... hopefully it will be fine... !! i applied for the cement screeding on 22 sep, so it took about two weeks... usually it takes abt 3-4weeks (stated on the application form), so was quite surprise when i visited my unit yesterday and saw the cement screed! yupz, i will be doing laminates flooring for the all the rooms and LR/DR except the foyer, where most probably will be homo tiles...
  15. for ceilings, perhaps can consider ICI Mouldgard... only white color available... ICI online store
  16. i had asked HDB Branch Office whether can change toilet louvre window to top-hung window with ventilation fan... the reply is, yes, can change, but must ensure it does not pose a danger to others...
  17. i have met an ID who quoted me $6+ psf for supreme 8mm! i "admire" him for his guts to quote such a ridiculous amt! :D needless to say, he was immediately eliminated from my ID hunt! !! !!
  18. to be fair to IKEA, stainless steel wares from IKEA do NOT rust... those that rust are chrome-plated steel, not stainless steel... u can check the product tag to see whether an IKEA product is made of chrome-plated steel or stainless steel... generally, the GRUNDTAL series from IKEA is made of stainless steel, just like those stainless steel wares sold at hoe kee, song cho or sim siang choon... rust can be scrubbed off or sandpapered off... rust is merely the oxide of the iron, and it does not bond to the iron, so they can be removed by physical means e.g. sandpapering... those rusted accessories are made of chrome-plated steel, not stainless steel... get ur ID to replace them with stainless steel ones... it is not easy to identify by merely looking at the metal to know whether it is chrome-plated or stainless steel... however, chrome-plated steel does like more shiny than the normal stainless steel (there is a more expensive grade of stainless steel that is also shiny, but i doubt any ID will give them to u without u paying more)... to be safe, u may want to follow ur ID to the shop floor and ask the salesman personally before ur ID buys it...
  19. i think there is no mention on the time needed for rectification... but usually 2 to 4 weeks depending on the extent of work needed to be done...
  20. no news from them yet, except to call to confirm that i have passed the key to the branch office... i called the branch office hotline to ask if can add to the defect list after submission... the reply is yes, can add... can either call the TO-in-charge or fax in to bt merah branch office or report to the BSC at 27b...
  21. yes, found some defects, and have put up photos earlier in this thread.. haha, maybe i am too ngiao, small small things also listed as defects ... after submitted my defect list, i found some more defects (loose door handle and the toilet floor traps cannot be opened)... need to call the branch office tmr to check if can add to the list or not...
  22. i just visited blk 27b and noticed that there is a Building Service Centre there... seems like the rectification of the defects will be coordinated by the BSC instead of the Bt Merah HDB Branch Office.... so, do check with the BSC whether u should submit ur key to BSC or to BMBO for rectification of defects... for me, i submitted my key to the BMBO last saturday, before i found out that there is this BSC at 27b, and the BSC pple called me this afternoon to ask if I had submitted my key to the BMBO and said the BSC will get my key from BMBO... also we could direct our reno questions relating to reno rules and regulations to the BSC and get the official reply... think it is opened till 7pm... not sure whether opened on weekend or not...
  23. sorrie, have another question... mine is a new flat from hdb direct, and the walls and ceilings come skim-coated and painted... so, is it still required to apply a sealer coat before painting? thanz!
  24. hi, according to the hdb brochure, the new hdb flat's walls and ceilings are already skim-coated/plastered and painted by hdb. so, do we still need to apply a paint sealer to these walls/ceiling before painting?
