these 3 nights been sleeping late. searching TB for taps and lights. We are doing LED track lights for the entire hse. gonna go with our intuition and buy the tracks and lights. if not enough, next time order again or buy in SG (if no choice, coz SG really overpriced) like our brick wallpaper, wanted to order from catalogue.com.sg. but the staff not responsive and unhelpful. their wallpaper cost like $55/metre. my 20sq m wall will cost me close to $1k. installation not inclusive. it's ridiculous.
-
ok. then i think not a problem. coz i see most of not all are 220v. thanks =)

those hanging lights lo. like dining table lights (pendent lights etc) do u know what i should look out for? like the voltage or the watt?
-
hi peeps! Do we need a converter for the lights we buy from TB? they seem to use the same kind of bulbs (E27) and voltage is 220v. But got pple say need converter. any comments?

I've yet to have a chance to go down and measure the exact distance. will only get to do that when i get my keys in march. i guess based on floor plan, the visual is kinda hard. i've very limited imagination. we also thot of doing the sink parallel (to the pipes) at the "concealed area". which will also leave us with abt 55cm walkway. hope we dun grow fatter. lol.

Hi summersann yah.. that's my dining table lo. urmmm... i think i need to explain abit more. the entire table plus cooking hob is abt 9 ft x 2.5 ft. The width of the table is against the wall. this means the table is perpendicular to the wall. Hence the legs do not hit the walls. but yes, we do intend to keep the bottom hollow.=) i get what you mean abt the difference in height. for normal kitchen work top it's abt 90cm rite? drop is only 10 cm for dining table. but it has to be raised by 20 cm for bar top. hmmm... *headache*

hihi... yup resale. if not the new 4 room flats are much smaller. and 5 room too unaffordable for me. We also intend to hack the toilet wall. so have to apply permit too =) your neighbours so terrible leh. u met them yet? you can do wat jus4fun did. Shut them up! urmm..sorry.. too harsh. Bribe them. =)

heard abt the power nasi lemak, yet to try!... This RT post is making me hungry. -
wow. very efficient indeed! are the laminates of the same colour? coz it looks darker in the first picture than subsequent ones.
-
Met up with Contractor yesterday. He passed us the paint and laminate catalogue, said we'll need a lot of time to decide. i think we do have a lot of time coz we can only have the keys a month later! (1 mar 2013) Then probably going for tile selection mid or end feb. So exciting. =X

Replied you in my blog. =)

hullo! i saw ur msg.. then went to icez blog to see wat we "spoke" lol... {Hi Z3phy, yup, walls represented by thick black lines are not hackable thus there are limitations to wat Icez can do to change the layout.. by the way, visited ur blog too! wonder how u will overcame the pillar (if u remove the rest of the wall next to it) smacked right in the middle of ur big big MBR? haha! } My reply: thanks for confirming.. abt the thick lines. as for the second question, only one side of the wall is hacked. Thus it becomes 2 connecting rooms and not a huge MBR. the wall facing the toilet entrace is still intact. we are living it there lo. and putting a glass door at the hacked wall instead. We dun wanna waste the aircon mah.. room big oso hard to cool leh.
-
Yup, it's squarish hence hardly any odd corners. Do you mean all those darker walls (in ur floor plan) cannot be hacked? mine was in the form of pillars. For mine, the previous owners already hacked the wall between bedroom 2 and MBR. it's neither here nor there coz of the pillar. i think my place got beams oso.. but we're probably still going for open concept kitchen. =)

Hullo... To save on cost and effort, we are now thinking of doing wall paper for the brick wall effect. http://www.lancashirewallpaper.co.uk/wallpaper/1832/brick-white/muriva i know i know... lazy people. just being practical here. Dun like then change wallpaper after few years. =X

similar layout with my 4 room flat. of coz mine is smaller size. Jia you! which part of pasir ris? mine at st 51
-
agree that since already know ur ID3 pattern, you'll probably feel more comfortable with him esp if his attitude and workmanship is ok the last time. anyway, looking forward to more reno pics! smooth journey ahead =)
-
lol.. i think the previous owners would probably take it with them. we're getting keys only in march.
-
we might turn to other options. like >> http://www.universalunion.com.sg/product.asp?id=222 we'll need the actual measurements to buy off the rack. save on carpentry costs. yup. my idea of using the sink from both sides was to get a rectangular sink and place the tap (with two "switches/handle" dunno wat u call it) at the width instead of at the length of the sink. so can use both sides lo.
-
hi Chiansl back to the drawing board. maybe i'm too naive. have to check with contractor if this could work. Alternatively we are thinking of concealing the pipes and place the sink in front of it. But the walk way would still be 50 to 60 cm. oh well.. probably turn to off the shelf sinks and move it ard whereever we can. the colorful pipe idea is not bad.
-
I'm interested in this too! Norman.. i think he did say it's ¥550/cubicmeter. so the size part is regardless.

Thanks jaykr for the very informative reply. 1. Actually we did do some research, which was why we gave up on our "DREAM" stainless steel kitchen (industrial look). too costly and too difficult to maintain. during our research, we found this chart that stated the pros and cons of each table top including quartz, solid top, glass and stainless steel among many others. As we are not the gentlest people (very chorlor one), we opt for quartz for its hardiness. And you are so right. Spending so much and then regretting would probably put me in depression. 2. Few of my other quotations also listed $2.80 as tile cost. But i will check with him before signing on the dotted line. 3. Thanks for the info. I saw his workmanship was not bad. material wise, i will clarify again. 4. i just checked. There will be drawings for the carpentry. but no 3d drawings la. my bad. Thanks for the info. sure helps.

with your comments in mind, I am still trying to solve this problem and came up with a few "costly and impractical" solutions. Here's one of the more practical ones. 1. The wash basin can be used from both sides. 2. i can choose not to conceal the pipes if budget doesnt allow. some cons 1. walkway from shower screen to basin is approx only 50cm. is this ok? 2. limited basin size What do you think?

Congrats on your new home. I noticed you have an island with dining table. did you use quartz for the dining table?
